1947 eatery reviews
64 Atmosphere was peaceful and less lights. Food was good, ordered some chilli chicken which was really nice - hot and spicy. Main course - butter chicken was okay but I have had better version so nothing new.
Overall the food had enough portions and tasted good. Staffs were friendly and helpful with choices. Parking is located just opposite the restaurant which was convenient.
Got the butter chicken and butter naan and wanted to give the butter chicken a fair shot. It’s good but not that good for the price they are charging for it. No butter chicken should be as exorbitant of a price that they are charging. You could find cheaper equally as good options elsewhere
Though portions are small and prices are quite high comparatively the food is of high quality and very tasty.
Delicious food. We ordered the Diwali 4 course meal and it was very festive! Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely coming back to this one:)
Good food, good ambience, good service. You get what you paid for at this place!
Note that most things are for sharing.
Amazing service and atmosphere, every single staff member was so friendly and polite, and made our visit a memorable experience!
The food was divine, every single item we ordered was delicious, especially a side dish recommended by the staff! I would absolutely recommend this experience to everyone
Great experience. Limited menu but good one. Great service. I am not much knowledgable towards drinks but whatever drink I had was amazing and good. Great staff good service. Keep it up. Hats of to all staff. Would see to dine in again in future. Keep going
Took my family there for the first time. The wait time was longer I had to ask them for my food. Food was great I say worth the wait.
Thanks for being open at Level 3 and serving the very best Indian food in Auckland if not New Zealand
We went for the Social Hour as part of Restaurant Month.
Firstly, the offering on the website is different than when you arrive - you can only have the very oily over fried Okra fries/lady fingers.no normal fries as per the Restaurant Month listing.
Secondly, you can only choose 2 of the same cocktail, not one of each. This wasn't clear on either the Restaurant Month listing, or the menu they gave us. We ordered before knowing this, so the waiter then had more to come back after 5 minutes and tell us no, you can't do that. In any other circumstance, you'd expect them to make the exception and then change it for the next customer/update their spiel to the customer when explaining the deal.
Thirdly, we asked to be seated by the window as they gave us a table in the middle of the floor, and being a louder bunch, I'd wanted to sit away from everyone to not disturb their nights. It took 5 minutes for them to come back to us and said okay now you can move. We'd already been seated for 5 minutes so we decided to just stay.
Overall the service was average and then dampened by the misunderstanding of the Social Hour.
Highly recommend to have samosa chat which perfectly made with no oil to be sniffed (which is usual compliant in street style food). Butter chicken was average, not the Indian butter chicken I would say. Breads are well made. It's good place to be. Lamb is well made as well (slow cooked)
We were turned away at 8ish pm saying their kitchen is closed, when it actually closes at 10pm. Highly unprofessional. Poor customer service. Staff wasn’t friendly at all. Overall disappointing experience!
Very excited to finally able to come here. Menu was quite interesting and there were a lot to try. They offers Indian fusion cuisine. However, people expecting Indian’s big flavor will be disappointed. Curry and tandoor tasted pretty light. Fried okra was quite nice and chaat was refreshing. Food was expensive and it was definitely not a quiet restaurant.
Ambience was good but they lack customer service. We were not welcomed by the gentlemen at counter properly.
Menu is expensive so we expected good quantity of food. Selection of menu and drinks is nice.
Later a lady came to our table with her hairs not tied, like this was not expected at fine dine restaurant.
When our food arrived it was cold and Rumali roti was even colder. When we requested to repeat rumali roti they asked us to wait for 10mins or have to order Naan bread instead.
Good but not enough quantity as per price.
Poor service standards and no one followed up as well on our dine-in experience is going onn.
Very slow response and service
Food is not very warm enough
Chilli chicken is not good
Its like chicken cook 3 days ago and sales now.
Its hard to eats
Snacks were ok we tried bhindi & prawns. Long island was good too. However, the Mains were pathetic, not cooked properly, had no flavor and could taste raw tomatoes in paneer gravy too savory. Butter chicken was also very sweet. One star is just for snacks. It's overly priced, wouldn't mind paying price for quality but not for the stuff served to us.
Was my favourite place of all time, unfortunately the staff has put down the standards. I was served by the Indian guy with glasses and Indian girl, they were so judgmental and rude when I was ordering more drinks and when I asked for a straw to go with it. Unfortunately I won’t be going to this place due to problematic staffs.
Nice place good vibe and friendly staff…. Overall food was not good only 1 out of 5 dishes was pleasantly tasty and drinks were good… Need improvement on food cheers
Great food and cocktails. We were impressed. Only issue I had was my curry had like 4 pieces that were just bone and no meat, but it came with 10ish pieces so I wasn't complaining.
I had heard rave reviews about 1947 Eatery, which is what influenced my decision to visit this restaurant with a friend. I left incredibly DISAPPOINTED for a number reasons.
1) POOR SERVICE: The waiter pressured us to order our starters and main course together in spite of us insisting that we wanted to complete our starters before ordering the main course. These dishes were then brought to us at the same time. The waiter interrupted us a number of times during our meal just to ask how the food was. Upon seeing that we had not eaten our main course yet, he mentioned that my friend and I should "eat first and talk later" - which is rude and disrespectful! He refused to reheat the main course, which meant that we had to eat it cold.
2) LIMITED QUANTITY: The food does not taste half bad; however, neither the quantity nor the quality is worth the price you pay for the food here.
3) AVERAGE DINING EXPERIENCE: If you have not made a reservation, the staff will most likely make you share a table with others. The high chairs are incredibly uncomfortable. The customer we had to share the table with was unpleasant and rude. The staff will have to be more attentive and vigilant in such instances so as to ensure that their paying customers walk out of the restaurant having had a pleasant experience.
