AA Auto Centre Wairau Park reviews
54Thanks for telling me that I'd need an overseas conversion for my driver's license to be able to drive around New Zealand. Just found out that I can use mine for 12 months which is more than enough time. So that makes me 100 dollars poorer for no reason haha
Friendly staff especially the receptionist, discount for Gold card, very reasonable cost, problem with my car was explained well.
I sent my car to AA Auto Centre for a Warrant of Fitness check up. The assessment included some unwarranted remarks such as "faded seat belts" which were functioning perfectly and gave no cause for concern.
Twice now I have been here for a WOF and been quoted well over what the actual repair cost was. Last year I was quoted over $900 for a shudder and was advised I needed new rotors. Another mechanic was able to machine the rotors and I paid half of what AA quoted me. This year I was quoted $925 to replace ‘broken’ control arms, which I was able to have done elsewhere for $600. The other mechanic had to carry out the repair as it was noted that my car failed a wof for it however he advised me that the control arm was fine and the issue was actually with the shocks. I’m not sure if this is a lack of attention by AA or an effort to make more money from the many people who probably wouldn’t question their advice. The mechanics are lovely and always take time to explain the issues found but I recommend getting a second opinion on pricing - in my experience they don’t seem to want to do the best by the customer.
Completely untrustworthy, go elsewhere.
I had an issue on my vehicle that they claimed to have fixed, but when my car broke down outside Auckland and I had to take it to another mechanic to have it looked at, it turned out that they'd broken a part while performing the repair, and failed to communicate this. An absolute nightmare to deal with and get this resolved - don't waste your time.

Update to respond to the below:
It was three years ago, however your recollection of the events are misleading, and the fact that you've gone to such lengths would suggest that the untrustworthy behaviour is still in play.
There was zero communication about a part being broken during the service, or my needing to return shortly after the service. I was going on a 4000km road trip; the reason for getting the vehicle serviced when I did was to ensure that the car was in good shape for this, and to my knowledge, it was.
I did not have a check engine light come up while driving; I took my car to a different mechanic (not AA Auto Centre) in Palmerston North for a different problem as I had relocated, and they informed me of the issue, at which point I contacted you.
I was initially asked by you to drive the vehicle to Auckland in its broken state so that you could fix it, which was an entirely unreasonable request, and likely would have caused further damage. The compromise, after a great deal of back and forth, was to take the vehicle to the branch in Palmerston North.
Throughout the process, communication was poor from both yourselves and the branch in Palmerston North (maybe just avoid AA Auto Centres altogether?), however eventually the problem was resolved.
The time that it took and the admin required on my part was not justified by any means, and my reason for posting this review, three years on or otherwise, is to give others awareness of the poor behaviour which they should avoid at all costs.
I received very poor service at this station - I am a regular customer and have visited this station over many years, but have not experienced this degree of bad service ever! My window screen washer on the passenger side was not spraying optimally, but it has been like this for many years. This same station has passed me many times over the years with the sprayer working at the same level of effectiveness. However, this time they failed me twice and the guy threw the failed WOF paper to me at the end of the evaluation. Something has changed - they seem to be pushing for extra business to complete minor repairs at their facility. I didn’t have an oil leak issue but now they are reporting one after they completed the service! I won't come to this garage any more. Very disappointed.
Got some repairs done here. Great communication, great service. Friendly staff, really impressed. Best AA I have dealt with.
Got car serviced here at Wairau park mid October. Again this branch has done fantastic in the servicing of my car and with their outstanding communication skills. 5 stars again
Great service from a cheerful friendly team at AA Wairau Park. Battery advice, selection and installation requiring removal of driver seat was professional and quick. Special thanks Maree and Chris.

Very friendly and helpful.
However,
They just need to update their website, regarding services.example.as they don't do AA Membership or Registration, but website says they do.
Thanks
As usual. They will sell you other service though you specified the service you want when i did my booking.
Love the service I get from A. A. Auto Center. Great work n friendly team, thank you A. A. 1 Crofield Lane, Wairau park.
My go-to for any vehicle issues/needs. The team here are fantastic, and so helpful and kind when it comes to sorting out trickier issues. They go out of their way to communicate clearly and find the best solutions for their customers, and their services are efficient and of high quality. Really grateful to know I can count on this branch!
This is the second time I have been there. The silver service was excellent. Had a pleasant dealing with the reception lady.she was very good as I remember the first time she was very pleasant. The staff also do a good job and are happy to answer any questions.
Too expensive for a pensioner. They quote the highest retail prices and will not fit supplied parts.
30 minutes to do the diagnostic scan
1hr waiting for the paperwork to be ready
150 dollars paid to be told the engine light on
Could possibly mean a few things
But no details on exactly what
Well that's exactly what I already knew
That's why I went for the diagnostics
Fail and cost a bad combination for me unfortunately
I encourage people not to go there. Some coins were stolen and my work shoes which I left in my car was completely messed up during the car service. It seems like animal bites. I assume that when the mechanics were fixed my car, they left the door open and animals came in.
No one told me what is happened to my shoes even though one of the mechanics definitely knew it. It is so frustrating. Also there are thieves. Worst experience in my life. Don’t trust these guys!
I had my car serviced which I was very pleased! I have no fault with that. When i paid the amount the receptionist told me all was well and no problems. When i got home I read at the bottom of the account it had written that i had an oil leak and something about the chain. Well i would have thought that the mechanic would have talked to me and explained the problem. I feel that some of us women do not understand a lot of repairs.it would have been helpful.
Why they didn’t vacuum my car this time for silver service? And explain all the details notes, should it urgent to fix the problems now or you may wait until your next service?
