Ahi reviews
41 First time diners. Really impressed. Great service. Mouth watering dishes which were visually beautiful and made of great fresh produce. Fantastic cocktails. I'm gluten intolerant and they accommodated this no problems at all. Tried wallaby for the first time and was impressed. Loved the oysters, crab dog and the red deer. The desert wow.
Highly recommended.
I used to frequent this establishment quite often, however this may be our last. Don’t get me wrong the food is wonderful, its just that they are taking 'shrinkflation' to an entirely new level. Their trademark 'Scampi Hotdog’s have been getting smaller and smaller each time we frequented. This time it was literally a 'chicken nugget' sized niblet that was simply 1 & 1/2 bites (if you're lucky). These were priced at $14 however we were informed they would be $16.hmmmmm
Then our mains were absolutely wonderful, however again more garnish and aesthetically appeasing herbs, than any substance of protein.
The blue cod cooked to perfection however perhaps 4 x Nespresso pod sized pieces of fish and my client indulged in the Venison which equally was perhaps under 65gms of meat in two small cylinder shaped offerings.
At $46 each, we were gobsmacked and still hungry.
Then at the till, the price of the scampi dogs had increased to $25 each. We put our foot down and complained around the shrinkage in food and subsequent increase in pricing. I know we are in a cost-of-living crisis but to limit protein to two hungry chaps was a tad cheeky.
The manager obliged however and did not charge us for the Scampi which was greatly appreciated, and we do hope that AHI has taken on board our feedback.
Exceptional food and service, you pay for the quality and the quality is top notch. Top, Modern kiwi cuisine
If I could give a 10 I would. From fabulous service to divine food. One of the best meals hands down for quite a while. Special mention to our attentive and wonderful front of house mgr Edward Boyd.
After watching Ben on tv in Australia was so excited to go to Ahi.
One of the best meals we've ever eaten.
Could not fault anything Thanks for a fabulous time.
Sadly, had a below average time here last night. We were left with menus for 20mins with no explanation so we weren't sure how to order or have drinks taken. Another couple waited 30mins unseen before walking out annoyed. Our courses were lagging behind, leaving us hungry in between and forced to spend on drinks. Again, table next to us complained about not getting their food, as did we. They did take $50 off our total bill but with what we spent for a fine dining establishment, we felt sorely let down.
Very nice place/atmosphere and good, special dishes. Went there twice. Octopus was dissapointing - too tough, they could have noticed cutting it. We complained, but only a "sorry". Oysters with sake are phantastic, so were the lamb, the fish, the wallabi tartare and all desserts we had during one Lunch and one Dinner. Truly sth.special in New Zealand.
Highly recommend this place. It is something and another level up. You will not be disappointed
I had 1 oyster which was really nice, a corn dog scampi which costed 20$ and the wagyu beef (44$). Although the flavours were really nice, the size of the portions does not justify the price. I was told the wagyu beef is around 120g of meat, however the plate came with only 2 small pieces (see photo) which were maybe 70g in total. I paid in total 70$ for these 3 dishes and I was still hungry.
Really interesting combinations of flavours and textures. Picked the "trust us" option and was not disappointed. The snacks were phenomenal, especially the whitebait tart.
You know when you’ve eaten great food - you want seconds!
Give Ahi a try - you won’t be disappointed. Did I mention they do great cocktails?
Great food and presentation.and good city view.
It took long time to get food ordered and more food ordered as the restaurant was full even though it was Monday night hence
a booking is a must.
Love that they have a long list of wine and staff who was kind to explain what orange wine is and what the difference is of each wine we chose:)
Pricewise if this helps, we (three girls) spent $430 for a couple of dishes to share with a bottle of wine.
Wow was an experience, food was so delicious. Definitely a must try if you’re in NZ. I’m a self proclaimed foodie and I really enjoyed the entree and starter, the mains were a little anticlimactic but still tasted good. Probably a one time experience for me because of the price point but I guess that’s fine dining. Overall I’m happy I got to experience it and I can now tick Ahi off my restaurant wish list!
This is a great restaurant serving local dishes and wines located on the second floor of the commercial complex. We shared the well known scampi corndog and wallaby tartare and milk fed lamb savoury for starters. For mains we shared the butter fish, wagyu bavette and roasted quail. For dessert, the waffle cone with boysenberry and chocolate was the best way to complete the evening. Service was excellent. We left the restaurant after 11 pm and required the assistance of security to exit the building as most exits were closed by that time.
Food was unbelievable, our whole table was blown away with the flavors. Mains took a while to come out but when they did we were speechless.
Purely Epic.
The story behind the business.
The earthiness of the fit out and furnishings.
The presentation of each plate - visually, physically and olfactorily.
The mixture of flavours and textures.
The friendly and attentive service.
Finally the magical cocktails.
All epic.
Very grateful we got to experience Ahi on our last day in NZ.
We entrusted the chef's with our lunch (4 snacks and 4 course) and smiled ear to ear thanks to the variety of flavours we experienced from each serving.
A magical experience.
This is one of my top 3 restaurants in NZ. The level of care and dedication to the food and service by the team @ahirestaurant is incomparable. Creations are sent out by the kitchen and arrive on deliciously presented plates, that made me constantly excited. Every single dish was phenomenal, but my favourites were the tahr tartare, and the ‘seafood chowder’ that was a collection of the finest seafood with a rich enveloping sauce. The location is so convenient with ample parking next door, and as soon as you step inside, all your problems go away and all your needs are addressed by the attentive staff. It’s been a long time since I’ve found a restaurant I recommend so highly.
To be honest couldn’t have been better.
Staff very helpful, we booked for 2 and then they changed it to 4 for us last minute without hesitation.
Food and service was exceptional.
Great GF options as my wife requires and wine list was well priced and matched.
Highly recommend.
We went there for a lunch. Relaxed atmosphere, great customer service and delicious food. The only issue was the directions. It was a bit hard to find this place from the parking
Beautiful views over the harbour and nearby Britomart Station building. We came here for our Xmas lunch and had the set menu which was more than plentiful. Ruby served us and was friendly throughout. The scampi corn dogs are a must try! I really enjoyed the mushroom ketchup with potatoes too. The wallaby had a lovely level of spice to it. One of the top restaurants in Auckland.
