55Fans of Brokenwood Mysteries will recognise this gem of Auckland history. An interesting insight into the past and well worth the small entry fee.
Well worth a visit. The history and stories are excellent. The house is unique and the grounds are lovely. They have cool market days too. Feels like stepping back in time.
An amazing historical house, well run and well kept. The gardens are just as impressive as the interior. The indian style balcony looks absolutely beautiful, and the markets are always lovely.
Was there for a hosted event - the house interior and exterior were lovely to roam around, and the atmosphere was amazing.
What a beautiful house and grounds. Couldn't get over the fact it still had its original wallpaper blew my mind. The staff were extremely cool, friendly and informative.
If you love old houses and history, then you will love this one
A very cool and amazing historical place to visit. Once one of the first farm lands in auckland. You can tour the house and see the amazing rooms and hidden secrets they built in. Also see the surrounding gardens that have markets once a month. A must visit and you can get a pass for the other historical houses in auckland
This is an ancient building in a residential area in central Auckland. The owner of the house started building the house in 1863 until 1920. It took 40 years of continuous expansion and reconstruction. Well worth a visit.
Took a special "Behind the Ropes" tour, part of Auckland Heritage Festival. Most interesting. Lovely historic home.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. I arrived at opening time and had a great introduction by one of the staff. Then we were free to roam the magnificent displays. The authentic heritage was so enjoyable to see. I felt that it wasn't over- dominated by 'don't touch' signs. The freedom we were given, to explore and enjoy was just right. The gardens were lovely too. It was well worth the $10 entry. The we gift shop had some great things for sale.
It was so interesting to come here and experience a Victorian home in the middle of Auckland! What I liked is how light and welcoming the place felt. A lot of homes like these feel spooky inside but everything here feels more museum like. Thank you for the experience Alberton.
Beautiful heritage building ️can buy a ticket for visiting inside the house and have a nice vintage afternoon tea in the back️
Weekend market at garden sometime ️
Great for family and friends come to visit here
Interesting place to visit. Very quiet but with historical vibe. Sadly we went there during Covid. Would be lovely to have a cup of tea in their gorgeous courtyard.
A great place to visit, to get a glimpse of what life was like back in the old days. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend.
Beautiful older Auckland home, well presented and maintained, which shares a way of life which is both fascinating and informative. I hope to return on another visit to Auckland. I have visited Highwic too.
Gorgeous setting, ample parking, friendly and knowledgeable volunteers. This was an incredible walk through the past. Detailed information on the rooms, functions, and history of the home and families. An amazing maze of a mansion. Will definitely visit again.
Part of the Heritage NZ trust, very knowledgeable guide, beautiful grounds, and display boards providing facts on family and building. House in good condition being built in 1860.
The staff that work here on a voluntary basis are amazing well worth the visit beside the chickens they have bee hives.they sell the eggs & honey onsite to help with up keep of the facility
My wife and I took our 5 year old grandson to tour Alberton. We were very impressed with the whole experience, from the welcome to the departure. We started off with tea and scones, hot chocolate for the young one. The history of the family followed, most impressive. The tour was the highlight, especially for the 5 year old, who incidentally was fascinated by the chickens. Will do it again for sure.
Alberton as a place is not bad, but the Alberton market is fantastic. The like music was really good, and there is a nice variety of food stalls. Only one option for coffee though, so that wait was longer than would be ideal, but not enough to lose a star.
