Allianz New Zealand reviews
32If you're thinking of buying a travel insurance from Allianz, don't! I wish AA did not partner with this company. I thought it was all managed by AA, I can't be more wrong. Super slow claim processes, and terrible customer service.
Worst customer service I have ever experienced.
Been waiting 4 months for a simple travel claim and still no resolution.
I would put no stars if I could. Horrendous service for a genuine claim that is not even COVID related. We were left in a foreign country in and out of hospital without any support or even confirmation that we're covered. We waited in our hotel for over 48 hours for a return call which never came. We gave up. On our return to NZ we provide everything they request and we're still waiting 3 months later and receiving emails requesting the same things we provided months ago. They are not fit to operate as an insurer.
Waste of time getting insurance through Allianz when you can’t even claim anything from a cancelled flight. Whats the point in having insurance when you can’t use it when you need it.
Will never get insurance through this company ever again! Absolutely terrible.
We used Allianz for our travel. We underwent a big stress with Qantas, and now we can't even see a cent from our "reliable" insurance provider. Such horrendous service!
Allianz response to my request to claim insurance due covid isolation
"Covid-19 has been a known event since late 2019 and therefore not considered an unforeseeable or unexpected event. You would have been aware of the complication and challenges around travelling in a pandemic environment. It is vital, when travelling in a pandemic environment, for travellers to ensure they have the appropriate travel insurance cover in place for any potential Covid-19 related expenses. "
They only had one policy to choose from so why are they selling insurance that is not appropriate for travel during covid.
So, as an international student, it is the inbound insurance for us, and when I broke my ankle because of my uni farm practical experience, they firstly said that it is labour job, so, refused to claim, and then I read the policy carefully, and it said as long as it is related to education aim, it should be covered, and I give them the evidence from uni as their requirement, and then no any reply, no any money, when I checked again, they have closed the claim process, and the most terrible thing is that the whole process took me four month, till my ankle almost recovered.
AN absolute joke! I have spent a total of 300 minutes of international calls on hold with STILL no response, sent four emails and NOTHING trying to settle a policy issue. Will NOT recommend, I hate to see what happens if I actually need to take out a claim, good luck, haha! Been sick to my stomach for a whole week trying to get through to sort out a very urgent policy matter. Furious! Non existent service, why do we pay so much money? !
Be very wary of entrusting your travel insurance to Allianz. Based upon my personal experience it seems that they are only too happy to take your premium but ever so reluctant to pay in the event of a claim. I purchased Travel Insurance in good faith. A policy that provided for compensation in the event of cancellation due to a medical condition arising that prevented travel. Unfortunately this occurred. A medical condition arose that required cancellation. This presented on a date prior to Alliance invoking the Pandemic Clause of their travel policies. Nonetheless, they declined to pay on the basis of the subsequent Covid Pandemic that (conveniently for them) also prevented my travel on the departure date. I am aware of others whose travel insurers have paid under similar circumstances. Had there been no Covid due to my medical condition I would have been unable to travel. In these circumstances Allianz would have had an unambiguous liability. It appears that the function of their Claims Consultants is to find reasons to decline a claim. Whilst they have an internal Dispute Resolution Process the function of this process again appears to be for the purposes of delay, obfuscation and finding reasons or excuses for refusal. You have been warned!
You let me down. I was really dissapointed with this company.
All this company does is trying to rip you off.
I will never go with this company.
Please who ever wants insurance do not insurance your self with this at all, They are just ripping you off that’s it, I had issue with my travel insurance when travelled to LA and these company is very hopeless
I give this insurance company ZERO stars
Doesn’t even deserve it
Worst company to buy travel insurance from as their communication SUCKS, Staff are not helpful at all, never reply to emails and they'll find any excuse to not give you your claim. Don't use this company! They will not help you once they have your money
.
Can't give less that a 1 star on here! If your looking for Travel Insurance, avoid this company, by far the worst I have had to deal with. Claims take up to 2-3 months to sort. You can't get a response from anyone via email or phone. Should have gone with Southern Cross.
Worst ever travel insurance company, took out policy with AA Travel. Giving Worst Rating possible -10 stars
Literally the most cancer thing I have ever purchased and I buy cigarettes, these guys are more toxic. Whats the point of getting insurance if they will do anything in their power to not pay you. We had a flight cancelled that was not our fault and they refused to pay for it. Scam insurance.

So many swindlers. I will never go with this company.
Dealing with Allianz was very frustrating and time-consuming. Our airline cancelled our flights home at very short notice and as we didn't have our policy on hand we called the Allianz helpline and were told that we would be covered for the new flights and could go ahead and book them. When we tried to submit our claim, however, we were told that our policy did not cover the flights and that we must have misheard the advice we received over the phone. I asked Allianz to locate the recording of the call, and to pay out our claim if it turned out that they had in fact given us the wrong advice. It took a further two months for Allianz to "find" the recording of the phone call, several weeks to admit that we had been advised to book the flights, and another month to finally agree to pay out.
Throughout this entire process Allianz were extremely difficult to deal with. I would often have to send several follow up emails before I received a reply from customer service, and would not have received any money from Allianz had I not persisted in pursuing my claim over a three month period. The overall impression I got from my interactions with Allianz was that they were not concerned with the happiness of their customers.
They dont even deserve a one. They jumped through hoops not to pay my misrable $150 US that I had to pay extra for a missed connection. They dont deserve anymore of my time and I will never go with them again.
When things go wrong, the last thing you need is to deal with a nightmare (travel) insurance business. Choose wisely, I wouldnt choose anything covered by Allianz or resold through their partners like STA Travel. There are better options like TINZ or 1Cover.
