Aubergine Restaurants

The food was devine.however the staff were slow and inattentive no one cametocheckon how our meals were or toask if we needed anything else.very disappointing foran end of year function.

We had a large group for our family Christmas get together and were recommended a couple of places around Auckland. We chose Aubergine in Takapuna and it was the perfect choice! Leading up to the dinner the staff were friendly, informative, have us great options to accommodate different budgets and hunger. On the night the service was great, nothing was a problem there were no panicked looks on any of the team's faces, so professional yet friendly. Yah we found "hospitality"! The food, there good oh my Darwin the food. It's not often I look at the meat eaters and want to steal something from their plates but the dishes that were coming out looked stunning and even the pickiest amongst the group enjoyed every last bite. A couple of us went with vegetarian options and I have to say the falafel at Aubergine is second to none. Their mezzo platter was a perfect mix of flavours and the portion size was perfect not too much and not to little. Now I had the tiramisu for dessert and I have to say I've tried a few of these over the years and always been left with, "oh that was nice" but Aubergine's version of this classic dessert was just pure magic so a big thank you too the chefs. I could literally go on for hours about every little detail but I think you have to try for yourself. Aubergine is definitely a restaurant that we'll need frequenting when we're back in Auckland for a visit and will need telling those that couldn't attend how they missed out on some of the best food and flavours in Auckland. Well done team an awesome effort you should be proud of yourselves.

Went for a group event for $30 set Lunch menu. Restaurant was very busy on Thursday noon. Food and service was good, atmosphere was superb. I ordered Baba Gounush for starter, chicken schnitzel for main and Sticky date pudding, Tiramisu for dessert. Portion size was very good, it was a good value for money. I highly recommend this for group or even small gathering. You won't be disappointed.

Food: we had the lunch special: For starters, we had 1) baba ghanoush: good portion and taste. 2) Pumpkin soup: very small portion of watery soup that tasted nothing like pumpkin soup. For mains, we had chicken schnitzel, good taste and portion.

Service: We felt that the restaurant was understaffed for the busy weekend, hence the service wasn't the best. Servers seemed to be avoiding eye contact with customers, so it took some time to make an order and it took around an hour for our mains to be served. One of the female staff, had a grumpy/stressed? Face which, although was not directed at us in particular, still made us feel uncomfortable - we expect servers to meet and serve us with a smile rather than a poker face. The two younger female servers who were on shift yesterday (9.12.23), were both lovely though.

We will still be back as generally, Aubergine is a good restaurant that provides good food and nice atmosphere.

I hadn't been to Aubergine is years and after a recent visit I cannot recommend them more highly. We held an event with them this week, with over 80 guests and it was the smoothest and best experience I could have asked for, right from booking to paying. The food was outstanding, size and quality and my guests made a special mention to how good it was. We will definitely be back. Thanks so much!

Poor service.
The manager deliberately delayed our table’s order to give preference to other customers. We had a booking but we’re only served after people that came and ordered well after us.
The waitress tried to apologise and offer starters for the extended wait but the manager blocked it confirming that it wasn’t a mistake showing his bias.
Great place if you are Caucasian because your order will jump the queue.

AMAZNIG. Probably one of the few restaurants where I liked everything I saw on the menu and had one of the best eye fillet steaks I've ever had. Great value for money.

Enjoyed the fillet steak, rare as ordered - do miss the previous version with mushrooms and mash. Creme brûlée was a bit gritty. Overall good value. Decor updated and clean. Nice ambience. Staff lacked character n charisma. Service was attentive.

New owners same great flavours and choices. Friendly staff. Ooops sorry was told it was new owners.

Family night out - the consensus from us all was “Very slow service, very average food. ” I’m giving 2 stars as they refunded us some of the money once we we explained our disappointment.

Excellent, had a lovely family meal. All was superb, food great and huge portions. We went for our last day in New Zealand on holiday and now home in Scotland. Thank you. John and Maureen Blake.

Great menu. Lovely atmosphere. Nice that the owner/chef came out after our meal to check everything was ok. Old school. Loved it.

We had Sunday lunch here, it was busy and the staff were amazing! Thoroughly enjoyed lunch!

I went here for the Harbour Voices Christmas party and the food was great. The lamb nearly melted off the bone it was so tender.

Nice ambience. The food was good but not stunning. Main was the best. Desserts need work. My sticky date pudding was stodgy and more like a cake mix type recipe than made properly with real dates.

Delicious and authentic, loved the food (I had chicken pasta for main and creme brulee for dessert) and atmosphere. Definitely going to visit again!

I brought myself and a group of 25 to the restaurant and had an amazing dinner and experience! The food and service was exceptional, and the staff were so friendly! Big thank you to all the team, everything was perfect!

This time the meals weren't great. The lamb was cooked lovely and tender but very few veg for a main meal eg 1 thing slice of carrot that you could see through, 2 small pieces of broccoli and 3 small potatoes. The lady opposite had quite a lot more veg than what was dished up to me. The dessert was over cooked for the lava cake. Certainly a rip off value wise.

The chicken filo and chicken schnitzel are the best! Great linch deals for $20-$22 you can have an entree and a main and they worth it. They also have good wine and cold beers on tap! A great place for work lunches or just for a catch up with friends.

Ambience is looking a little dated but the food was very good in fact amazing from starters to dessert. The standouts were the wedges and the kunafa for dessert but I could not fault any of the other dishes
My steak was cooked perfectly rare as requested. And on top of this the service was impeccable. Friendly and efficient manner. Well done Aubergine
