They will commit to a time and make sure they don't meet it. Complete and utter waste of time! Useless

I've had my car serviced at Toyota Grey Lynn for years and have always found them extremely efficient, courteous, honest and reliable, and always do a great job.
Yesterday i took my car in to see if they could help me find something I'd lost under the front seat - they were immediately helpful and understanding and Scott set to work to remove the seat and help me find it - without his help and set of eyes I would not have found it! Very appreciative, thanks Scott and Toyota!

I only had to get my electronic key replaced but I found the staff at the parts counter really friendly and helpful. I was quite impressed by their customer service.

Had a service of my vehicle which is always done perfectly. Also spoke to the New Vehicle manager regarding an error that occurred when I purchased my vehicle 4 years ago. It was now impacting on me. Wow the manager went over and above the call of duty. Thank you to both the manager and the mechanics.

I scheduled a full car service last Friday (08/09), and I received an initial email quote for approximately $1,200 NZD covering both services and parts. However, when I arrived to pick up my car, I was surprised to find that the total cost had surged to nearly $2,000 NZD due to an unexpected labor fee. My frustration arises from the lack of transparency in their initial quote – why didn't they inform me about the impending labor fee? This situation feels like a rip-off.

Another concerning issue arose during my visit. Prior to the service, my car's engine didn't produce any unusual noises, but now, after the $2,000 NZD service, the engine generates a significantly louder noise every time I start it. Troubled by this development, I promptly contacted the service center on Monday (11/09). Regrettably, the individual who answered the phone displayed a rude and dismissive attitude. When I explained the issue, they responded with, "I can't understand what you're saying, " and promptly ended the call. Moreover, they didn't inquire about when I could bring the car back for further assessment. Given that I heavily rely on my car for daily work-related tasks, this newfound noise is disconcerting and makes me feel unsafe.

To compound matters, this isn't the first time I've encountered problems with their services. Last year, after a full service, I encountered a similar issue with a noisy engine and had to return my car for a second visit. The lack of courtesy and apologies in handling these situations has eroded my trust in their services. This overall experience has been disheartening and raises serious doubts about the quality and integrity of their service.

I did my car service and WOF there yesterday, the experience there was terrible, and I am so regret to go there. Here are what happened:
1.first appionment I got there in time at 10am, got told it would take a whole day to do, car ready by 5pm, no loan car, so I rescheduled in store, but the confirmation text received later showed wrong time. So I called back changed the time and booked a loan car, and told them I needed the loan car for my doctor appointment the same morning. Showed up in time again, got told no loan car, leave it or reschdule again. A loan car magically became availbe after I requested to talk to manager. But frustration has caused. I returned loan car at 3pm as they requested, but got overcharged for the loan car, I paid $39.5 instead of $25. I am pretty sure it is an overcharge as I got price confirmation twice, at booking and before I took the loan car on the day. I live at west, drive 20-30mins[twice] to city at their branch to do service, the whole service fee is not competitive to others, no apologize for the mistakes and frustration they made. Why bother to go back?

Sales rep was very helpful, test drove a RAV4 Hybrid. But ended up buying instead from Henderson Toyota instead, because the manager in Grey Lynn was pushy. Added paint and interior coatings to quote without asking, and tried to argue their finance was better than a mortgage loan, even with higher rates.

No communication from Toyota. You leave them your info and never hear from them ever again. They can learn a lot from any other car dealership in Auckland. All of them have much better customer service.

Biggest scammer ever! Sent my car to get a wof, they failed it and demands me to change parts for 11k. Asked them why do I have to change the parts, just said to me not going to pass the wof without changing those parts. Then I took my car to vtnz to get a wof and passed straight away. My car has no problem and has been regularly serviced in the past, basically just trying to rob me. Also asking them to clean up the car, they said they have vacuumed everywhere but see crumbs on the middle of the floor and seats. Totally disappointed and will never go there again!

I find the service department receptionist in glasses I believe her name is Erica so rude. She was chatting with another customer in front of me with a smiling face when she sees me suddenly turn a wooden face. That was the first time to visit them. When I picked up my car she just pretend not to see me and turn her face around. Every time I talk to her she clearly avoids eye contact with me as if I'm not welcome there. I keep myself tidy and presentable when I visit them, I do not understand the reason I receive different treatment than other customers. Very unprofessional.

Worst customer service ever. I bought a car about a year ago. And it’s a NZ new car. When I went to do the WOF, (it’s the first time I did it when I got the car), I didn’t pass it because the wheel bearing has problems and needs to be fixed. Definitely it’s not my problem. A wheel bearing normally can be used for 10 years. They said it’s nz new, I was the first car owner in NZ. And I drove it only for one year. Now I can’t pass the wof. I called the sales person, he asked me to give a report to prove that this car had a wheel bearing problem a year ago, so I called Mayne Automotive who did the WOF for me, to check whether they can provide a report or not, and Mayne Automative said no one can give that report, if someone can, they must be lying. So I called City Toyota, they transferred me to different departments and no one is helping me to fix it. Either said that it’s the salesperson’s problem, that I need to negotiate with him to cover my cost or said that I need to repair by myself. No one actually cared about customers. They just don’t wanna take the responsibility. I am so disappointed.

Booked for service and warrant end of January 2023. A few things on top of the service had to be done. Paid lots of money. The lady who was leading the communication during the service was pushy to get things done knowing the prices she quoted were higher than other places around Auckland. I serviced my car in the same place for the last five years and still went ahead with service but noticed when I mentioned that I will shop around for tires in other places she was quick to get rid of me. The thing should have been mentioned that I only had 28 days by law to return and get the WOF. Then flooding happened and I could not return to get WOF due to huge slips in the area I live. So called Giltrap again and got rejected to bring the car for WOF. Not taking in consideration that flooding affected roads and people got trapped and were not able to drive to the place within the period we could return to get WOF sticker. Management should consider and review the deadlines when customers are affected by floods and can’t bring the cars within required time.
So I was told to pay for WOF again because I missed the deadline to bring my car back to get WOF and it cost around $60. That amount is nothing for the business and it believe that it should be done free of charge considering I already paid for it. My family spend thousands in that brunch over the years and will never be back.

I recently brought my first used car from here. The team are professional, friendly and welcoming. Firstly, I’ll confess, I did a HUUUGEEEE rookie move and did not test drive the car. However, I had no doubts about it. Car needed a WoF, Rego, the team cleaned it up pretty good and got it ready for collection (basically looks and feels brand new), within 3 days. When picking up the car, paperwork was pretty fast and straight forward. When I drove home (moment of truth haha), the car drove smoothly with 0 problems. Couldn’t be anymore thankful. Just want to say a massive thank you to Reyn, Dean and the rest of the team! 100% happy with everything.

I want to share my experience of purchasing a used car at Auckland city Toyota, Grey Lynn, a little over a month ago. I am a new arrival to New Zealand and I bought my 1st car, a used one, from Auckland City Toyota. The used car sales consultant – Awam Raj was knowledgeable and conversant with all the tech specs of various cars that were on display. He was quick on the uptake and knew exactly what I was looking for and would guide my wife and me on the pros and cons of each car, based on our needs. Although I was looking for a Toyota, I found a nice Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, that suited my budget.
The purchase and delivery experience was simply fantastic. The car was ready in 2 days, with all the cleaning, polishing, and paint job at a few places. The vehicle looked stunning, almost like new.
As an experienced vehicle maintenance manager myself back in my country, I found a few minor issues with the car after about 20 days of usage, including an issue with the charging cable. I shot an email to the service department explaining the issues in detail and a service receptionist – Brenda, promptly responded, to fix a convenient date and time for bringing the vehicle to the service center for the repair/ rectification.
Each point that I raised was checked thoroughly. When I went to collect my vehicle, the used car assistant sales manager – Erin and sales consultant – Awam, briefed me on the rectification actions taken until I was satisfied and advised me not to use the defective charging cable and that a new one has been ordered which would arrive in a couple of days. After a few days, I visited City Toyota to collect the new cable. To my utter disbelief, as I parked my car and walked in, the used car sales manager – Luke, walked up to me holding a carton that had the brand new cable. I hadn’t even met him before, but just by the vehicle plate number he knew me and knew exactly why I was there. It was such a pleasure to see such promptness in customer service. The Toyota culture, I guess is truly amazing.
Thank you, guys.
Best wishes. Merry X mas and a Happy New Year to your entire team.

I have never bought a brand new car in my life, but I'm glad I did so through Toyota Grey Lynn. The team was approachable, welcoming and knowledgeable about the range of cars on offer. I appreciate their helpful recommendations and suggestions to ensure I got a car that was tailored to my needs. Special thanks to Joslyn for her assistance with the paperwork side of things. If you're heading in for a test drive, or have a few questions about the cars I highly recommend Denis! He will steer you in the right direction. It was a seamless service and delivery, making the wait for this magnificent car all the more worth it. Cheers team!

Best service I’ve ever received from a car mechanic or service centre. Scott & Tezy were really understanding and attentive to the unique issue I had with my car. Tezy agreed to take my car overnight and test it on the open road at higher speeds to experience the issue and assess what was happening. I collected the car just one day later. Tezy took the time to explain the issue he discovered and what he did to remedy it. He also offered to take me for drive to ensure I was satisfied. He charged me a very small fee for his time and work and wouldn’t let me pay a cent more. The whole experience with Toyota from my initial call with Scott, to my conversations with Tezy, and even the staff at the centre, was exceptional. I can’t thank them enough for their help and efficient service. I highly recommend visiting their Grey Lynn / City branch if your Toyota needs some TLC!
