Rented from this company for over one year. All staff were friendly and accommodating except for Joanna, the Property Manager. She was rude and tried to compel us to pay for things that were not required. Be forewarned-they did not have the house cleaned before we moved in, yet insisted that it be spotless when we left. That old famous ‘carpet cleaning’ clause was one she hung onto for several emails until she realised that we knew exactly what the law is. Also, wouldn’t allow us to attend at the final inspection. This would have saved several hours of back and forth along with multiple trips to property.
Wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.

I have found Barfoot Mt Eden to be professional, thorough and caring throughout my dealings with them. Joanna is a great property manager and I have no hesitation in recommending her to manage your property.

Things would be simple and transparent if you take your job seriously. Easy steps are know the property and then let it.
Every staff here were nice except for Joanna - the rudest property manager. She never considered our requirements as tenants and surprisingly did nothing for us. Ended up breaking the fixed term through tribunal at her expense and got something better that we deserved.

Recently some relatives had the misfortune to deal with Barfoot and Thompson Mt Eden. They signed up for a rental through them but before moving in found that it was infested with fleas. The landlords agreed to cancel the lease and refunded all their monies but Barfoots refused to give a full refund of their “letting fee”. Bast**ds.

I approached Barfoot Mt Eden to let out my property in Mt Eden.
It was a frankly a waste of time and waste of my $115, which I paid them in advertising fees.

My biggest frustration above all, was how Barfoot showed no urgency in the process of trying to let out the property, which was shown in the lack of viewing slots. Only a couple of viewing slots were made available, but they would be very inconveniently placed for working people and families, smack in the middle of a working day or school day (ironically, how could this work, when I requested that my tenants are either a professional couple or a small family? !).
Also, a rather passive approach in following up with the enquiries that did come through, really drove over the edge in terms of how the letting was being handled.

My gut feeling: my property was being treated like a "second class citizen", as I was only going for the casual letting option. This was confirmed when I saw that there were no physical post signs put up to indicate the property was for rent.
Not to mention, I had done all the hard yards prior to approaching Barfoot, with professional photos and listing description provided by myself.

After two weeks, I decided to part ways with Barfoot and did my own "Open viewings" without requiring people to pre-register and all that none sense.
I decided to make the viewings on a weekend, you know, when people in the real world have time to look. I managed to get 15 applications (actual filled-in applications) on my own in one weekend, and signed up my new tenants the Monday after.

Do yourself a favour, no one cares more about your property than you do, certainly not an agency thats really only after long term property management contracts.

Let it out yourself! Save yourself the time and money! Plus it will look more attractive to prospective tenants, as you can remove the letting fee!
