69Great atmosphere. Friendly and competent staff. We ordered beef burger and Tap beer for $40 and it was really nice. Burger comes with fries. Well served portion. Recommended.
Had the mushroom gnocchi which was amazing! Really yum. Husband had a chicken burger which was nice, but not great. I like that there is the bar area on the left when you walk in, it's darker and louder and a quieter area on the right. Also bar upstairs as well.
Great food and cocktails. Exceptional service by Diya another great experience at Basalt:)
**Diya - Compliments to an Awesome Hostess**
I am from Melbourne, and have been to Basalt Howick on a few occasions when visiting Auckland; it's always an absolute pleasure. It's extremely comfortable, has a very relaxed atmosphere, with a great selection of meals and drinks.
The Basalt Howick team members (both front-line/ customer facing and custodian/ maintenance) consistently deliver excellent Customer Service.
They are all extremely professional in their approach, as well as very efficient in attending to any requests. I've seen your team members take a genuine interest in ensuring that the guests are comfortable, and they are always polite; even where the guests themselves were not as polite. Although these behaviours are consistent across your team, I have especially witnessed it with Diya who was our recent hostess.
I believe that Diya and the wider team's consistent positive customer service skills and genuine enthusiasm for what they do is a great asset to your organisation, and should be recognised/ rewarded.
I'd appreciate if this feedback is shared with Diya and your team members please; and all the best to them in your organisation. I look forward to visiting Basalt Howick again when I'm next visiting Auckland.

Served by the queen Kiani, loved her service super friendly & bubbly. Food was mid, pizza was quite bland.
Service was great.
Food was OK, I enjoyed my Beef burger but the Mrs fish and chips meal was under par.
The fish tasted old.
Also the tables were sticky and the dam flies man!
Was out of gluten free buns and pizza base at the same time. Had to order a salad and then still put noodles in that where not gluten free. Ordered pork belly and was cold and not crispy at all
Good food, Great staff and a good atmosphere. Cocktails are a hit and miss, but overall a good place to head on out too.
We had a birthday meal for my wife booked in at 6 o clock hardly any body eating at the time we got our starter and main course ok but Dessert we waited an hour for and as a birthday treat they up sized the onions rings which she didn't even order we've eaten here before but on this occasion very disappointed.
A really lovely evening with the family. Everyone enjoyed their meals and our waitress Grace was super attentive and sweet. We will be back.
Had a great family meal yesterday. Good sized tasty portions and the waitress Jamie was very attentive and lovely.
Four of us went to dinner there during the flood weekend. Area not noticeably affected.very lucky! Food excellent, table service excellent. Flavors were right on and the waitress was friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend for a meal at least.
Miss Sarah F was amazing service, super friendly & made the experience at basalt wonderful. The food was top tier and i love the new menu. Amazing would come back xx
Great staff service is great the staff work tirelessly to meet our needs so go though be patient with the staff cause they are all super amazing humans who sacrafised their lifestyle of weekend parties to provide great service to us.
Cocktails terrible. Took back a margarita in the upstairs bar that was Soo sweet it was sickening. The bartender looked offended. Margarita is a basic cocktail. It should be refreshing not sweet.
The worst meal and service I have had in many years. The waitress was obviously new and should have been helped more and supervised properly. We all felt sorry for her. We were there for a family birthday which was ruined by bad meals.
Service was great, very friendly staff.
Food was tasteless and burnt.
Ribs - $19.80 I think. Had no meat on it. Was just cornflakes on bones.
Cheese/beefburger - $26. Almost tasteless. The only taste in this burger was the taste of burnt meat and burnt plastic bacon.
My partners sister found a long hair in their cornfla- I mean ribs. Legitimately unacceptable. Hygiene should be a priority.
It appears that their dishwasher hasn't been working for the last month or so. The last two times we've been there, the glasses from the bar have been filthy. The first time there was an insect leg in one glass and this time there was some kind of small paper or something still stuck in it (?) It was also covered it smudges.
It feels like they've upscaled the pricing on their menu to help with COVID, however they've lowered the quality of everything except the service, which is the only reason they're even deserving of 1 star.
10/10 service, 0/10 everything else.
Love how friendly the staff are when I tried it out over the weekend:) highly recommended if you want to enjoy a place with very friendly staff
Poor and late service, pizza and pasta served cold, very cold, not salt and pepper in table. Bad experience and I don't think I back here again
