So even when supplies are short and times are hard perfect crispy fried onions shreds of bacon and perfect cooked mushrooms on this dog then soft moist calamari rings and I shouldn’t have had the chips but hay I always over so it when going here great staff great food keep up the good work

Everytime I come here, the burgers are perfect and the service is lovely. The chips are always fresh and crispy and that gravy is just sensational. Would definitely continue to order from here.

Might have a child and bless it with the middle name Big J. Kumara wedges make me question my existence and the burgers always make my ancestors proud.

Wow, their burgers are amazing! I heard about this place ages ago, but never got a chance to go there either it was too crowded or I just went too late.

Love their super steak burger, layer of sandwich steaks, mushroom, cheese and sauces. That was so good, totally forgotten to take a photo of that burger sliced open.

I was introduced to this place from a friend, I live 2 hours away. I find any excuse to make the trip up.

Tonight was my first experience of a mistake - they forgot a burger on an online order, called them up, the owner was very apologetic and went above and beyond to rectify the easily made mix up.

I will continue to recommend and make excuses to visit and consume the delicious food on offer!

The burger gods have bless this man with the ability to take the humble burger much further than it was intended to go. Honestly hands down the best gourmet takeaway shop around pound for pound, fish and chips, burgers, special of the week all are beyond exceptional. Order in advance, you will be waiting as things this good aren’t done at drive through speed.

Ordered the small chicken burger (I think that's what it's called) bc I wasnt that hungry. Really wasn't expecting much but the chicken was so tender and well cooked. I love the simplicity of this burger, not too many fillings and so flavourful. Definitely coming back.

I really like the burgers from this store, especially the burger of the week. Fresh, delicious food and quick service. Highly recommend!

In search of a good angus burger like the Hardees US - Middle east I ended going to all some Karl and his juniors and my friend suggested Big’j and by far the best burger place in NZ. All these Furg QTN, Whiteladee CBD and butterburgers can take a chill for now

Big J's takeaways i would say is an under rated shop. They make awesome burgers and is pretty economical too. They are not located in the penrose town centre and is a wee bit away from it. But they do produce better burgers than any joint in penrose.
You have to order online through their website and its not an dine in place.
I ordered dragon burger and it was spicy as they advertise it to be. I will definitely be going back to try more of their burgers and chips.

Awesome burgers! Ordered though Uber a few weeks back and watched it sit in the car for nearly 30mins while he did another pick up. By the time the burger arrived it was cold and mushy (vege corn burger), not Big Js fault but will never use uber again.

I have been visiting this eatery for years now and they are certainly one of the best burger joints in Auckland.

The food is remarkable, with a different variety of burgers available on the menu along with other options. The prices are reasonable, and they provide fast and excellent service as well. The owner is a nice guy who is always welcoming, and so are the staff.

I generally prefer a steak and egg burger or alternatively their classic chicken, and they never disappoint.

If you like burgers and live in Auckland, try this place. It is superb.

Delicious and fair priced and you really get what you oay for! The super steak burger was filled with natural mushroom flavor and the steak was soft but with a small bite ot it making it a get mix. And the chips are the best I have ever had from a burger place worth the visit and eats. 5/5 will be going back.

I suggest you pre-order unless your not in a hurry as waiting time is 30min if your lucky. When we did get our order 2 beef burgers and one lot of chips it was cold as I could see in the back they had stacks of pre-orders waiting for pick up so obviously our order was with the rest until a stuff member notice.

I made an online order from their website and brought the burgers back home. They have a decent selection of burgers within the range. They also have a special of the week which is on their facebook page. The place is hidden near Sylvia park. It is a bit out of the way. Pick up was fairly easy at the entrance.
The burgers are pricier than others but also larger and tastier. I tried their special of the week, Its gravy baby, a steak burger with wedges and bacon. I enjoyed it but not as much as the hotdog. The Big js hotdog had everything in it and was really tasty. The bacon and onions made it really nice. Their kumara wedges were also decent but it doesn't come with any sauces.

We also got some spring rolls and mac and cheese bites. The mac and cheese bites were nice. The spring roll was ok. Nice cheap dinner.

Top notch! Burgers are of the best kind; folks running the joint are a sensible bunch too.

Look forward to returning again soon.
