Canton Flavor

Canton Flavor is definitely the restaurant of choice at Orewa Beach. Wayson and his family and the management and staff provide very prompt and courteous table service. The kitchen delivers the best Chinese food you will ever eat. The flavours are exceptional and reflect the overall high standard of the restaurant. The menu caters to all palettes, including vegetarian and vegan, which suited us as a monk and a nun. We highly recommend Canton Flavor and looked forward to returning soon. On the night before Chinese New Year, 2024, we did revisit. In between time we dined at the neighbouring restaurant but we found a significant difference. Being a former chef, I know that presentation is one thing and flavour is another but it is the balance in the flavours that makes a meal exceptional. I checked on this second visit to Canton Flavour and I was right: the balance in the Canton Flavor dishes was superb. It is the balance, the menu, the service and the price that will keep us coming back whenever we have leave from our monastery in Taheke. The priceless dedication of the chef and the whole kitchen staff are to be commended to the highest. We came away fully satisfied.

Fantastic! We were given a complimentary starter due to Chinese new year of the dumpling combinations which was a lovely touch and a great dish. It Beef in black bean sauce was a delicious and much more of it than we were expecting. Chicken fried rice was good, again a mountain of food! We had prawn dumplings, again brilliant! Spring rolls were top, and the pork dumplings were soup dumplings! Not advertised as such and a happy happy happy surprise for us! Would have ordered 10 of them! Complimentary dessert, again for Chinese new year, lovely bit of ice cream! This was the best Chinese we’ve had in ages and there were very few people in the restaurant on a Monday evening, so a great ambience to it! Thanks to Wayson our server! Fully recommend.

The whole family had lunch together. The price is good and delicious. The environment is good. You can walk your kids directly on the beach opposite.

The seating was quite clean and set up nicely. The food was very tasty and came out rather fast. I really enjoyed the honey soy pork. It was very easy to share between my group and everyone had a great time. The employees were very polite and helpful to misunderstandings, and came with smiles. I would recommend going here at least once to experience it.

We had one good meal here, but the last one was not good with the 3 dishes we ordered all being delivered to our table separately with quite a long time between each dish, rather than all at once, so we could have eaten it at the same time. Service was poor and the food had no flavour. There were no sauces on the table either. Disappointing.

We are living in AKL but this is our fav Dim sim restaurant. Highly recommend! Love the view - you can see beach and sea just cross the road. Nice food with fair price. Great customer service, friendly staff. If you want to spend half day somewhere near the Orewa beach and want to have some Chinese food, try it.

Canton Flavor was a lovely little stop on a road trip that I did along the way through Orewa. Situated on Hibiscus Coast Highway just a hop, skip and a jump away from Orewa Beach and in a busy part of the town, it is an ideal location.

The ladies were lovely and served us with a smile on their faces. The food was beautiful and authentic. The chefs really cared about the food served and that was reflected in the presentation and the final outcome of the food. We had some dumplings, pork and rice. They were all delicious.

Overall, I was very pleased with my experience and hope to dine again here soon.

Fantastic dining experience including great customer service. Friends and I came in late and the chef stayed to make our food which was delicious. The staff then waited around an extra 50mins after closing hours while we were catching up.

We've been here 3x. Food is alright. Nothing too great. Service was very poor though. Everyones chatting at cashier and no one to welcome you right away, eventhough there were only 2 tables with guests. I waited for food to be served 35min.only to find out my order wasnt placed.since were hungry, we didnt leave but bad experience lingers. We waited for another 15 min.servers are not customer focus.

This is hands down the best yum cha in the world. Would definitely recommend, especially their rice rolls. Thank you Canton Flavor!

The food and flavours at Canton Flavour are very nice. We were excited to go for a birthday celebration.
The service was poor and lacked the standards that we have received from others in the neighbourhood.
Ordering drinks was very confusing where only the adults orders were taken and the server walked off, we the. Had to ask if our kids could order a drink too.
Ordering the food did not go much differently as we needed ask to place order despite it being quiet when we arrived, the male server then seemed to not understand what we ordered and needed to look at menu for everything.
The food came out with no sensible order which left some almost finished before others had received anything.

Overall, the food was tasty but the service will see us choosing not to return.
Perhaps it was the night but we won’t be returning to check.

The best Chinese dishes in the North Shore. Service was fast and food was good. Make sure to try the buns when you do come! Highly recommended!

We often get takeout from here, recently moved to the area we had a number of neighbours recommend this place to us and we weren’t dissatisfied!
The food is really great and the staff are absolutely lovely so I can’t recommend this place more really.

Real authentic food with a great atmosphere and friendly staff. Comprehensive menu, good for kids too! Loved the round table for our bigger group - definitely recommend going here for lunch, dinner or take away!

We love coming here once a week. They've got nice wines and delicious meals, especially if you are like us looking for a spicy food sometimes.
