Columbus Coffee reviews
57Coffee Price too high. Ordered a large latte and confirmed fm cashier. But received regular size and said this the only one size for it. Need 1 extra dollar can get bowl size that not on menu and never said when did order. So confused.
I seldom review but must say that I'm totally disappointed with this cafe. The chicken wrap was tiny and when toasted the salad wilted. The loaded hot chips with bacon and sour cream took more than 30 minutes to arrive after 3 people had finished their food, making the 4th person embarrassed waiting for it. Their excuse was there's a queue of people. The cafe looked empty to me. When asked to cancel order, was told that the food is 99.9% ready and waited another 5 mins before it arrived. Definitely wouldn't recommend
I was in the café this morning and ordered coffees and food but coffees was served and food was not served and asked where is my food and they said that will be on the table soon but we finished the coffees but food was not still served came back without food was not a good morning for us.
I don’t complain much about food but thought since I had a bit of time this morning, I’d head out to the Columbus store in St John’s in Auckland for a cooked breakfast. I ordered an omelette. It was over cooked, dry, small, lacked any love and looked like a dogs breakfast. Far from anything compared to the photos you have on your website. I called a staff member over to come and take a look for himself and asked him if he’d be happy paying $22.90 for that. He asked what was wrong with it just said he’d chat to the chef but never came back. I decided to get a refund as it was absolutely disgracefuI and I refused to pay $22.90. I later spoke to the lady and was told it’s how Head office wanted the omelettes done. 3 eggs and 3 ingredients etc. That might well be the case and if so Head office you need to pull your finger out. If I cooked something like that, I’d be too ashamed to even send it out. No excuses, it could have had 2 ingredients if it was made with a little love and passion. There was none. Disappointing!
Took too long, not worth what we paid, dirty bottle to serve us water in. Food was dry, poached egg might as well have been a boiled egg, ciabatta was so dry and hard, Just not what we expect from a cafe and for what we paid, not satisfied at all
I was there to support local business while on lockdown but that white lady on the counter today 28/02/2021 was just unfriendly and shouldnt be in a front facing customer service role. Destroys the whole experience no matter how good your coffee is.
Ordered a large latte and a large mocha in takeaway cups. Both coffee were very blend with no taste. I went back to counter and asked if the coffee were one shot only, they confirmed me that they were two shots each.
I said they hardly have any taste, tasted like too much milk and water. They first asked have I drank it, I said yes (of course I have! What kind of question is this? If I didn't how would I know the taste?). They then asked did I drink much? I then gave the guy to hold the cups to let him judge on how much is too much or not much. He hold the cups and asked do I want an extra shot to add in to the cups (to me, that's not a good customer service at all! Don't even mention about great service!). I said how does that work, wouldn't it not being hygienic at all? I didn't ask to get new ones made, which I should have, but I thought this should be an instantaneous thing to ask by any shop/Cafe to offer the service right to redeem their own reputation to take care of their customers, not by asking do I want to put an extra shot in my two cups of
half cold coffee!). In the end I left for him to deal with my order. He came back with added shots, not newly made coffees. My wife have another drink and she said it tasted bad, totally not what she'd expected and certainly didn't taste like mocha any more. She left the coffee on the table without drinking it again. We then left the shop, felt disgust about the whole experience.
Coffee itself costs less than $2, the margin the coffee shops make is very huge. I just don't understand how hard to get us new freshly made coffee to get customers happy and back for more?
Won't go back there again, and would ask my network not to go there if they want bad experience on any good day!
I was not impressed with the service here. I ordered a flat white with marsh mellows. The lady refused to give me the marsh mellows. She said if she gave them to me she would have to give to others.
This is not a classroom but a business. It is important to give the paying customer what they want within reason. Whilst it was a small request I acted on principle by walking out.
I will never go again, and find their coffees too expensive anyway.
The smoothie (detox) is terrible, when I have a smoothie I expect it to be more than some "fruit" and water. And the scones are just plain bad. The only redeeming factor is the people, they are pretty nice.
Our coffees were cold - I think the cups are too thick and this sucks the heat out of the beverage and their new pies are ghastly. Not at all flaky but just incredibly doughy.
It's gone downhill following the change in ownership. Dropped in today and it was empty which tells you everything. All the paleo, vegetarian and gf options are gone and the new food was not great. Unfortunately its just another average columbus now.
Changed ownership a few weeks ago and has slid downhill very fast. Today hot chocolate was served cold (twice in 10 days) and a lady at neighbouring table said she had been served a cold coffee last week. Banana loaf was uncooked. I refused a refund or replacement item because it was a minor issue. Replacement hot chocolate was literally slammed down on our table with no apology making my daughter jump with fright. When I approached the new owner expressing that I was a long standing and regular customer for 8 years and told her of my bad experiences of my last 2 visits in just a week, she ripped into me and criticized me for my very brief conversation with lady at neighbouring table. Left with a very sour taste in my mouth and we won't be back. Dannee and Jigisha Patel, you are sorely missed. I can't recall ever having had to return a cold hot chocolate or complain about anything in 8 years.
Asked for eggs on toast to go with my coffee. Coffee was great. Eggs came on the plate not on the accompanying “toast” (more like a smidgen off a piece of roll). Asked if they could give me eggs ON toast liked I asked for, answer was “that’s how it comes “ I then found out the eggs were ice cold. Left the plate and walked out. I think I got a newbie member of staff. Not a happy camper!
Yet another customer feeling compelled to report the very poor food from this cafe.
$8.90 “Toasted” sandwich was marginally re-toasted on the outside and cold on the inside, served with… nothing. $7.50 chocolate brownie was much smaller than those on display and again not even heated, let alone the missing cream.
Dropped by here first time today. Coffee was good but food was unappealing. It was too simple, too small. Cabinet food looked better though. Their customer service was just average.
Not as good as the last time.all the meals were smaller then the last time we were there and the food came at different times
I was here with my friend for Brunch. Good food and great customer service. The ambience was quite good too. Their Japanese Green tea is a must try! Would highly recommend!
Very disappointed at the service I received earlier today.ordered a large latte in bowl and toasted sandwich.received a normal cup and when waitress delivered it said 'flat white' when I questioned it she got flustered and said was it a latte? Then 20minutes later another waitress came over to me and was taking my number away and I reminded her I still had not received my toasted sandwich. She went away and my sandwich arrived after another 15 minutes. No apology. No Customer!
Came here on a rainy Sunday. The food is fabulous and service is also really good. Plenty of healthy options. But the atmosphere was almost unbearable. All the doors were closed and the tables were full. It was SO noisy you couldn't hear people at the same table without shouting. Not relaxing at all and we didn't hang around.
We've been before and sat outside, it was much more pleasant. I notice a few reviews mention noise but it's so bad we won't be back unless it's a fine day and we can sit outside. Some soft furnishings and barriers rather than concrete would help reduce the sound. It's a shame because it's a great spot with great food.
I bought a chai latte and a vegetarian lasagne, the chai latte tasted purely of syrup and he lasagne was good but it had paper attached to the bottom of it. The service was great though.
