I dealt with a young man who newly started in the Warehouse named Hare.

I came to pickup some parts and he was not aware of this and didn't know were the items were, his training from his supervisor and his intuition got me my parts on time for my job.

Thank you very much it was a pleasure.

Shockingly bad experience.

Have had a failed heat pump since it was first installed in June. So it’s had issues from day one.

Daikin won’t respond to our installer who is now at wits end trying to get another heat pump from them.

6 months on with a young baby in the room going into summer and we have needed to get in touch with Daikin directly to try to get traction.

Not currently getting anywhere.

Next stop is getting both Daikin heat pumps removed and going to another brand that has better post care support.



As promised I would update the review once resolved.

Our heat pump that had issues has now been replaced. Daikin pretended it wasn’t a manufacturing issue, but there was a leak in the inside unit. Our installer has now experienced this on more than one unit, which is a newer model.

Our other unit makes horribly loud clonking noises, but otherwise works…

Our installer has moved exclusively to Mitsubishi since the issues they’ve had with support from Daikin.

In my opinion, Whoever is running the NZ branches needs to be replaced, they aren’t running a good operation. We have no faith in Daikin.



Another update, for anyone who’s interested.

I ran into our installer, who let me know that Daikin had only just processed the warranty claim. A bit over 1 year after the incident of the unit failing.

If we could, we’d pull ours out and swap to another brand. Definitely a sour taste in our mouth with Daikin and how they handled things (or didn’t)

I am an experienced electrician of 35 years whom has had some bad luck with TWO 5kw Daiken A/C unit failing in the 5-7 year range. I chose Daiken as they are consumer recommended in all categories. These things happen. I contacted Daiken whom fairly provide a 5 year warranty on there products and due to my unfortunate experience they came to the party with a replacement board at no cost. The first failure was a complete system replacement which I paid for but as the second unit failed again at approximately 6 years I took my grievance to Daiken and Jared from WRAC backed me up. Daiken provided the part at no cost for my 2nd unit and due to my unfortunate luck Jared kindly installed. I will continue to promote and purchase these units due to this exceptional support, excellent communication and understanding. I must advise my case is not the norm and Daiken and Jared are contractually not required to provide parts at no cost beyond there standard 5 year warranty. Due to Jared & Daiken's concern for two filed unit just out of warranty they made an except for me in this case. I will now actively promote Daiken and Jared to my many high-level contacts in the Australasian technical services arena and would like to pass on my gratitude.

I would warn prospective customers of Daikin to expect poor aftersales service. Had 2 Daikin heatpumps installed in my new built property and one of them started making a rattling noise six months later. Contacted Quality Heating Services to look at it but only got pleasantries and no action. Contacted Daikin NZ without a response. Buy a Daikin at your own peril.

It is very unfortunate that there 2 units in a 2017 built home failed, one in 3 year of installation and other in 6th year. Although they were fixed within warranty. The 5KW unit fix only lasted 3 months. Now have unit outside warranty. I expected Diakin units to last atleast 10 to 15 years without problem similar to other reputed brands. Not a happy experience.

Had a new Diakin installed to upgrade on the old one.its been a disaster and had to pay full price for what is effectively a second due to the fact that it needed repairing from the get go. I wanted it replaced but they would not replace it so my brand new purchase had to be repaired…not on - no wonder there is no seconds shop they sell them to clients as new.

Support is terrible, have contacted 3 electricians to try and get my heat pump looked at, 2 recommended by daikin. None will even quote for the job as it has been incorrectly installed. I've called daikin several times, the last time they finally agreed something was wrong and would send someone out, they have never contacted me since and no one has come to look. I've even been hung up on by daikin. The service guy on the phone even called the electrician a liar and that the people whi install daikins are at the top of their game, but in the same call admitted something was wrong. I have my heat pump set to heat to 16 degrees and it heats to 23 before it cuts out, and won't cut back in until the room is 10 degrees. Stay away from daikin, the moment you have a problem you out in the cold, literally!

After sales service is horrible. Two wall units has been installed last year, one unit got an issue loud noise, when I called dealer, he said I need to call Daikin for Warranty, and when I called Daikin, they said I need to call dealer and Vice versa, but their website boasting excellent service. Really disappointed, due to urgency, I bought portable heat pump for time being.waste of time dealing with Daikin.

Worst customer service and after sales service.

We had two Daikin heat pumps installed by our developer in our first home and had issues since the day we moved in. After months of trying to get this fixed by the contractor who initially installed them, I decided to contact Daikin.

At first I was told they can send out a contractor to analyse the issue but I’ll have to pay for the call out. A few calls later, I was told the heat pumps are under warranty so, wouldn’t have to pay. I had a contractor do a thorough analysis and figure that the pipping was wrong. Mike and his team were very helpful. They reported back to Daikin and told me it’s up to Daikin now.

Winter rolled in. My wife is asthmatic. So, it was vital we got this fixed. She needed to stay warm and not have the cold flair up her asthma. After repeatedly explaining ourselves, Sanjay and Joe from Daikin came over and apologised for the cowboy job that had been done and assured me that this would be rectified as soon as possible. They suggested replacing the heat pump in our lounge to suit the pipping in the wall.

Sanjay got back to me in a few days with a replace unit that didn’t suit our colour preference. But I agreed for it to be installed anyway. As per Sanjay Daikin didn’t have stock to suit our preference locally and more importantly we needed to have our home warm in winter.

Sanjay and I kept in touch for a few weeks but then Sanjay seemed to have fallen off the grid. He wouldn’t answer my calls or text. We were just left hanging.

Tired of being mucked around, a few weeks after I went to the developer with my solicitors advice claiming compensation for the runaround we’ve been given over the past 7 months and now have our heat pumps working and replaced in a colour that suited our preference.

But it’s absolutely disappointing and horrendous how Daikin itself have let them selves down as a company and uses unskilled contractors to install their products. Yet wouldn't take responsibility when customers complaint, leave customers hanging. Not even Taking into consideration their health and wellbeing. Or the big $$ customers pay for their products.

I wouldn’t recommend Daikin. Their products could be top of the range but their customer service, after sales service and contractors are a nightmare to deal with.

Started ducted heat pump 4.30 am room temperature on controller 16 outside 11 set heating 23 running till 6 am no cutout temperature reach 23 75 sq Mt open lounge/leaving
Spoke with Mitsubishi, Panasonic &fujitsu they advise should reach 23 in max 45 to 60 minutes when outside is 5
Daikin says it’s normal keep on using more power and make power companies happy
Think twice before installing daikin

So much for 5 year warranty. Outside unit faulted because a bug got in and shorted the mother board. Daiken say that isn't covered because it's not a fault in the unit.
Come on! The unit has to be outside so it ought to be designed in a way that the sensitive parts are protected from that sort of thing.
They have stepped back a bit and are supplying the parts, but I am still in $200 labour on a unit that is less than 3 years old.
Not happy.
Note that the only reason there is one star is that I can't post unless there is one.

Bought into Daikin two months ago as it is a known and trusted brand. However the after sales support on my brand new unit has been terrible with the system not performing to specification and internal opinions at Daikin being in direct conflict with one another and the customer (me) being caught in the middle with no resolution or escalation path. I can no longer recommend the brand and regret my ~$8K investment in their family.

After moving into our new house we had problems with our two unites.
The technician that had installed the two units returned a number of times after ordering parts to try get the two units operating again and sure did his best to get them operating as they should do.

Sadly the two units are still not working for over two months and still waiting on more parts as the first attempt was not successful.

Its a shame that having bean in our new home for 8 months with new heat pumps that don't operate at all and Daikin will not replace them, sadly what a shame that the service is of very poor standard of service and not reliable and endless trouble.

I have tried on many occasions to try get this problem resolved but there has been no correspondence and no follow up on any emails I have sent.
My details were sent to the correct management but still have had not correspondence with any of the management team.

We are left with two units on our walls that do not operate at all with a five year warrantee that Daikin will not warrant so have taken the mater to fair go and will be proceeding with it further.

Its shocking bad company n very poor after Services.stay away I will post pictures of the bad job done at the time of installation.
Unit was having a fault so I called them yesterday to book an appointment to get it fixed. Its been more than 5yrs and outside warranty so I am paying for it. Mr dave at shannon Refrigeration refused as they have stopped serving residential customers. I called up other Services providers and they refused as well as it was installed by shannon Refrigeration it should be serviced by them.

I called up shannon Refrigeration again today n very rudely Mr dave refused it and told me I should call someone else.

I have a heat pump for which I paid 12k n no one want to fix or service it.
I called up the head office today again and spoke to one of the responsible person and they have put one person on the case.

I will post the outcome once its resolved.

I bought a Daikin Zena Vogue Highwall black 5kW unit, 5 ½ Star Power Consumtion. I love the look (see for yourself beneath) and the installation by the 'Heat Pump guys' was awesome. I had to call Daikin for some after sales support when the 'Heat Pump Guys' dropped the ball with no knowing how to set up the build in WIFI function on my unit. The Daikin IT support Technician was spot on, very helpful, patient and got me up and going within 15 minutes. Signed off with invitation to call at anytime if there were issues.
'Customer Service' to the core, the After Sales Service is what makes such a difference. Thank you Daikin to step in where the ' heat Pump Guys' (sadly) left off.

Have asked for advice on sizing a ducted heat pump, they have no one at head office that knows how to size heat pumps and all their installers and resellers are so inconsistent im am getting reccomentations from 7.5kw -14kw and in between.

We are love Daikin Heat Pumps. They are a quality product at a fair price - in other words when you install a Daikin you get good bang for you buck! The back up service is also very reliable.
