We needed a large deck replaced. After making an enquiry with DBS Residential I received a call from Dan a few days later. My experience from the onset was refreshing and positive. I was given a quote the next day and everything spring into action after that. I was then contacted by the Project Manager Terah who put things in motion with delivery and dates of commencement. The two builders Josh and Seb were awesome. They identified a few issues with the deck such as leveling and replacement of bearings and joists. The extra time and cost needed certainly paid dividends. I was especially impressed with Josh's mapping out of the deck and meticulous attention to detail. These guys were artists. I now have an awesome deck which turned out to be everything we had hoped for. I am so grateful to Dan and his team to have finished the work this side Christmas. Thank you again. We engage DBS Residential to enhance the outlook from the deck of our waterfront property by removing supporting poles that supported a fairly substantial and architecturally designed pergola.the project required bespoke steel and wood work that was quite nuanced.

The outcome was awesome.we now have amazing unobstructed views which has additionally added to the usability of the area.

Not only was the job done in a timely and very professional manner, the attitude and especially communications from the DBS team was second to none.a quality outfit we'll be using again!

Dan from DBS told us verbally our retrofit for our double glazing would cost $10,000. This was after going over the project in person, sending through the window schedule and him having documentation for our project for over a month.

He asked us to pay a deposit of $4,500 for materials and we did.

We waited for a quote and when it came back, with a couple of small extras, the quote came in at $178,000.
We quite obviously turned down the offer and asked for our deposit for the materials back minus a steel beam that had been ordered.
Since then Dan from DBS has withheld out $4,500 to date despite declining the quote a month ago.
He is keeping our money until we agree to pay him $2,000 for providing us the quote we have declined.
Until we agree to pay Dan $2,000 for the quote he is not paying back any of the $4,500. We have had to refer this matter to the disputes tribunal as a last resort to try to get our funds back from Dan.

It felt safe to work with a local team with good reviews. Steve and Josh came up with a good solution for new access and a storage room under the house, making the most of the space They listened to our ideas and delivered an excellent new room. When drainage became an issue they stuck with us to devise a solution. I wouldn't hesitate to use their services in the future.

I cannot recommend Steve and the guys more highly. I had a tricky wrap around deck renno which included hard to find bespoke balustrades and the guys did an amazing job. I get the feeling with DBS that they genuinely care about their clients and go to great lengths to get things sorted for them. These guys are great!

We contracted Dan and his team for our deck renovation project as the old deck has some H&S concerns. We ended up not only with a nice new deck but also having some rotten timbers removed around the house and part of the tilted floor remade. Now I can be confidently living in my house without having to worry about safety. Dan and his team are knowledgeable about the work process and they have the patience and skills to explain this process to non-handy people like me. Appreciate the help. Strongly recommended!

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience with DBS residential. We had contracted them to carry out a renovation on our home. Embarrassingly the owner called me the wrong name throughout the 6 months I dealt with him and then after council consent proceeded to give us a fixed quote that was 60% higher than his estimate. We went with another company who was more affordable and professional. I would not recommend this building company to anyone.

Dan and the team looked after the rebuild of two balconies, a large rotten deck and new deck! They also discovered and completely rebuilt/re-clad a rotted out section of garage/laundry that saved us from disaster further down the track. The quality of the workmanship with the woodwork especially was great, we have some beautiful finishing on our cedar home, with new stairs and decking/balconies throughout. Dan, Steve and their Builders Laurence and Chris helped bring our vision to life, making some great suggestions to enhance the finished product. The team were reliable and worked with us every step of the way to manage our budget, and figure out solutions when problems were discovered. We'll be using DBS for our next project!

The recent Auckland lockdowns threw up some challenges but DBS got everything done quickly and to a high standard.
We did go over our planned budget, but with renovations you always have to factor those possibilities in!

DBS Residential recently completed a retaining wall in my basement. Thanks to Dan and Brett for a job well done. The guys responded quickly to my request for work to be done and worked extremely efficiently and thoroughly once the work got started. The end result is a quality job by a professional team. I contracted Dan and his team for a bathroom renovation. Right from the first phone call the entire team bent over backwards to be flexible and work with my changing timelines. They were knowledgable, helpful and I was really happy with the end result in my bathroom. They communicated with me throughout the project and everything went as planned. Dan and his team fixed some timber rot and cladding that had failed on our 1970's home in Glenfield. The guys were amazing to deal with. Very knowledgeable, hard working, and thorough. A very comprehensive job completed by the team and we are very happy with the outcome. We would highly recommend them to anyone.

DBS Residential recently completed a kitchen, laundry and living room renovation and my wife and I are very happy with the end result. Dan was a pleasure to work with, communicated well and made the process easy and stress free. Once the ball was rolling everything came together quicker than we expected which was a bonus. All of Dan’s team and sub-contractors did a great job and offered advice and solutions throughout the process. Although this was a small job in the scheme of things, we felt like it was treated with the same importance as any of the bigger jobs DBS R had on the go. Overall, we’d highly recommend DBS Residential and we’ll happily use them again when we get around to doing the rest of the house.

Dan and his Crew were an awesome outfit to work with.

We had a roof leak, with an unknown extent of the damages. DBS were responsive and quick to mobilize their team to fit us into their busy schedule. They kept us across and aware of the project scope and estimates as we reached key milestones. They managed all the subtrades and organised works well. This included scaffolding, carpentry, roofing, gib/painting, demo, etc.

When we did have issues, we were able to contact Dan directly and he was quick to resolution and ensured that any concerns or problems were fixed and adjusted. Things don't always go as planned, so having this transparency, access and communications was appreciated.

I would use DBS again and highly recommend this outfit. They've earned my trust which is hard to come by in an industry fraught with cowboys.

DBS was a very reliable team who sorted all our landscaping out they had great ideas to ensure the end result was perfect. The communication with us was top notch and the lads were super friendly and very helpful. We would highly recommend and use these guys again.

I highly recommend DBS residential for any of your building or renovation needs! Dan was a pleasure to deal with and nothing was too much hassle. We had multiple companies come out to quote our job and most couldn't complete the work or even get a quote out. Dan reassured us the whole way through and although it dragged on a bit longer than expected it was completed before Christmas as promised! The price was great for the work involved and we are very happy with the result!
