36 This electricity company has undoubtedly been the most frustrating experience I've ever encountered. Their customer service is shockingly poor, often leaving me with more questions than answers when I attempt to seek clarification. I've been utilising their services in conjunction with a solar energy system from Solar Zero, and initially, we were promised that any surplus energy we generated would be sold to Ecotricity. However, to this day, I've received no payment, as they claim something on their end was not properly activated. Ironically, on my end, it consistently shows that I've been exporting excess energy since day one.
Before switching to Ecotricity, my electricity bills were much lower, even when two families were residing on my property last year. Now, I'm forking out an exorbitant $500 per month for electricity, in addition to the $200 for the Solar Zero service. This is incredibly frustrating, as the entire reason for installing a solar system was to save money. Paying $500 per month for electricity alone makes it extremely challenging to cover basic expenses and support my family. It's bewildering that our electricity bills have skyrocketed since making the switch to Ecotricity.
Furthermore, it's perplexing that even during the nighttime hours, the battery from the solar system seems to be contributing to Ecotricity's supply than to my own home only. This is a disheartening situation, especially when we had hoped that the solar system would provide us with some relief.
It's deeply disappointing to feel that we've been misled (hidden charges which was not disclosed) and taken advantage of. It's evident that Ecotricity's practices are causing undue financial hardship for us, particularly when we are struggling to make ends meet. This situation is nothing short of disheartening, and it's unfortunate to perceive such behavior from a company that should be providing reliable and affordable energy solutions.
Horrendous customer service
Haven’t been able to log into the web portal for 2 months and the customer service has stopped responding to emails.
Horrible experience. After trying to contact them over a period of months over my ridiculously expensive power bills, I changed provider to a large NZ provider and my bills halved.

Fast and friendly services. The price is higher than others, but as long as you are sustainable business, it's a good deal.
I'm on the ecosaver price plan and loving it! It's great that I can reduce my carbon footprint to protect our planet for future generations to come.
Why would you support oil and coal using power companies when Ecotricity are around? Climate positive and exceptional customer service!

If I could give neg stars I would.
1- this company stole my power, cancelled my personal contract under my name with Nova energy and transferred my house power into my landlords name without any of our knowledge.
2- when I tried to call to get a manager to speak to me to get the issue fixed they refused to talk to me because they don't have an account with my name on it even though they cancelled my original power bill.
3- the person I have dealing with this issue is an outside agent and they got the runaround as well. They have been told they are awaiting my original power company to get the power switched back. Low and behold I call my power company and they do have my power back, thanks Nova.
Would never recommend this company to anyone, the customer service is absolutely shocking, the fact that its taking 2 weeks of me chasing the same issue of mistakes made by other companies who thankfully are fixing things (thank you solarzero, is a total waste of time. You people are horrible to deal with. Could of been sorted with one phone call but you all refused to deal with me so you can deal with the electrical commission complaint.
Simply the worst company I've dealt with in NZ, they consistently get my bill wrong, every month and I call them and send emails and never get a response, do yourself a favour and stay away.
This has been my electricity provider for years! Actually met some of their team at one of their staff dos last week! What an awesome bunch!

An amazing company ticking all the right boxes for my power needs and helping me feel a little less guilty about my carbon footprint at the same time! Not to mention a refreshing change to have fast and on to it staff who answered all of my questions and helped me get set up quickly. Would recommend to anyone seeking hassle/guilt free power for their homes.

Stellar customer service, very quick and easy to talk to a real person. Deany was polite and respectful on the phone and sorted my problems on the spot.
A bad experience with this company. My first bill received on yesterday which was included 3 month usage. It cost me $200 for daily charges in 3 month? And I even never use any power from that property. Hey if you sent me the first bill in my first or second month, I will stop using your company straight away. I will never recommend this company.
