The ambience is good and the staff are helpful. I went for dinner but I was not feeling hungry, so I thought of having light food, but the snack time of the restaurant was already closed, I requested the staff for light food and she checked with the chef and made it for me. That was one of the good experiences to share with. The food was tasty and filling. Ordered some chicken wings and a beer.

Went here to try their set menu. It wasn't available so we tried their dinner menu last night. Tried the oyster entree matched with marlborough riesling, braised red cabbage and the fish with risotto - outstanding! Felt my eyes rolled back with the apple and rhubard crumble Goodness! Excellent all around. Every course was superb as the last. Chef did an amazing job coming up with this winter menu. Well done!

Could not fault the food, however the service was a little slack. I was told Fish of the day was kingfish, salmon arrived (didn’t complain I prefer salmon) had to ask to see the dessert menu but no one came back to take our order. It wasn’t overly busy so a little disappointed by this.

My daughter and I took my wife here for the Mother's day lunch menu. The food and service were amazing. We will definately be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our date night meals and the service from all staff was excellent. I had salmon, hubby had the eye fillet. Sharing so you can be inspired to try them out!

Great service and hosting from staff. The only thing, my meal came later than others, was a steak meal although was a rear steak came later than others. Also being outside diners felt a little overdressed, being a member of public not staying at the hotel with the name Hilton was a bit wierd.

Service could use some work. Lots of wait staff standing around while guests wait for them or try get their attention.

We celebrated our mum’s 70th birthday at Ethereal and wish to thank the staff for making it such a memorable experience. We had the best food and service.
Ellie was our server and she was absolutely phenomenal. So friendly, patient and attentive to our table of 11.
We ordered the set menu and each course came out quickly, and the food was delicious. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and my sister said the matcha chocolate was out of this world.
We had to reschedule our initial booking due to covid and the staff over the phone was so understanding and kind, and didn’t add to the disappointment that we already felt. Thank you so much. We loved our experience, our mum had a great birthday dinner and we hope to be back soon.

Poor quality and execution in food sadly. For a nz renowned chef I was highly let down in flavors. I cannot believe you served some of what I recieved it was unpalatable and poorly thought out.

No response or care upon mentioning things wrong. No care to offer compensation to try again and rectify the poor food.

Sadly your stars and reviews are showing what we and others clearly experienced. Watch the space for declining stars!

I just hope your chefs go taste some exquisite meals elsewhere auch as Sails and decide to up their game for the future of your restaurant before its too late!

Totally pleased would really recommend took my wife for our wedding anniversary lunch and from the moment we arrived to when we left service was outstanding food was well presented and very very tasty we will return for sure

Had lunch today for a family members birthday.

Decor is excellent, service was top notch and food was divine.

Everyone commented about how good their meals where.

Dined on a Wednesday evening, seated at 7.10pm and entrees ordered.took 45 minutes, then mains took 40 minutes after that.people around us that were seated after us got food first
king fish cerviche had pieces of fish still part frozen in middle, and main pork belly overcooked and dry.service was attentive but at no point did anyone advise why meals were slow.we were originally pleased that a named chef was bringing an offer to the area, however our experience was poor and spending $260 for a night out for the two of us has left a sour taste.no obvious leadership in the restaurant, but plenty of staff and also 3-4 chefs in kitchen so really no excuses for slow food.very disappointed as restaurant only 2/3rds full.

We have had dinner here three times and we have loved each time weve dined. I loved the pan fried fish and the wagyu steak, I highly recommend those 2 dishes. Weve also had breakfast here a few times with all our accomadation stays.

Delicious food, great location I love the stylish decor of the place very unique and beautiful. The buffet breakfast has a wide selection of dishes to choose from. The staff are all very friendly. Overall great service just like the hotel.

Had lunch here today.
Firstly, the duck croquettes were only luke warm in the centre so could have been cooked a bit longer. This made them slightly unpleasant to eat. It also really missed the fruit component to cut through the richness. There was a fruit jam/ chutney type component on top of these last time. Duck needs this to balance out especially if paired with more duck parfait. This time all we got was 1 measley pomegranate gem size bit of something per croquette.

The goat cheese starter was nice, I couldn't notice the goat cheese at all though compared to last time I had these. I felt the flavor was lost and lacked seasoning. We enjoyed the truffle flavors however.

Breads were nice but lacked something extra like a balsamic reduction would be good or even some of that honey and truffle or parfait that's added to the croquettes.

Tuna ceviche was odd- the white foam was far too sweet and sickly for a savory raw seafood dish. I would have enjoyed some fresh microgreen coriander and citrus to freshen it up as there was no freshness what so ever to cut through sweetness which goes so good with raw fish.

Pork terrain was not great. The pork had a pickled cured flavor along with the cured prosciutto, diced pickled gherkins, mustard seeds floating in similar flavors and again pickled onion segments - all too much of the same flavor components and nothing to break it up. Quite disappointing. Presentation was nice for what it was.

Dessert we shared Orange creme brulee and portion wise was great, my disappointment was the fact they over heated the brulee resulting in the texture being a complete runny warm custard, not a brulee. This made me sad. As for the chocolate pieces I found them too over powering and once eaten, I lost the flavors of the brulee. Other components were a nice extra.

We mentioned a couple errors upon being asked how the food was and sadly the lady just apologised and hoped we would come back again- no offer of compensation for the poorly executed food. Not so sure I'd like to take my chances to dine here again or recommend to peers anymore. Which is sad as I had a better first experience.

Awful - DO NOT GO HERE! We had a family dinner here whilst staying at the Hilton. I was served an entree with an ingredient I asked whether was in it or not, as I am intolerant & it still arrived with ingredient. Only compensation was a meek ‘sorry’. Then 1 hour after waiting for entrees we were told oysters had sold out & remake (which i didn’t want as too concerned to eat). Our poor child waited 1hr to be served his butter pasta. Not once were asked if we wanted fresh drinks - each time we had to ask. Every time we needed fresh water - we had to ask. Rare $46 steak was no were near rare. Very disappointed. Couldn’t even face dessert after this disaster. FYI I never write bad reviews - it was just that bad.

Thrilled to have chosen to go here for dinner. Entrees, main meals and desserts all first class. Wonderfully pleasant and attentive staff from start to finish.
