Mother’s Day High Tea
It’s a quaint little place.
Service was a little slow due to lack of staff but I understand it’s tough for hospo so forgiven.
Disappointed with the high tea.
Everything tasted like it came from a local
bakery and not one of the really good ones at that.
We ordered for adults and kids.
The offerings for the adults were pretty average: date scones, tuna, egg and cucumber sandwiches, micro mini pie and desserts.
The desserts were super sweet that we couldn’t have more than 2 items on the plate.
The kids high tea: 1 micro mini pie, fairy bread and some of the desserts that were in the adults high tea.
When kids tell you that it’s too sweet and they can’t eat it you know it definitely is.
Only one savoury item on their plate.
One of the desserts given on the kids plate was coffee infused/flavoured. Which kid wants to have something coffee flavoured.
The flavours in the high tea was skewed on the sweet it needed more of a balance.
Looking at all the tables around us no one could finish their desserts and they packed them to take home.
I will give this place another chance and dine on their normal menu but definitely won’t do high tea again.
Six months ago Amanda Allan posted a review and mine is exactly the same (minus the cockroach). High Tea with bubbles over $40 but food is identical to her description. Confirmation had been great but on arrival we were confused when given lunch menus. Back to the Cordis
High tea was less than good. After waiting for ages to be seated for a booking. Then 50mins for a high tea that only came because we asked the waitress what the hold up was. Sandwiches were okay as were the sweets but over underwhelming.
Company Xmas function, first got our fettucine and pasta mistaken (didnt swap back because we had different meat), then got my co-worker's medium-rare steak as medium-well, at the end dumped our leftovers even we asked for take-away.yet the waiter looked quite impatient when I asked to add a drink before he left from our second round of order? Food was alright but the experience turned most of my expectation down.
Food was average as. Our food box meals at home are better & we suck at cooking. Give it a good 2.75/10.
For the price you would expect more. No seasoning on the steak or chicken. Only flavour was coming from the gravy which wasn’t even all that great either, steak was burnt. Not impressed.
My family & I had family dinner here and we loved it! Our server was joyous and kind and made us very comfortable to be around! The food was very delicious, i absolutely loved the golden fries and steak! The desert was lovely too! It was fully booked out because of a work function happening as well but the staff were very gracious and kind not forgetting us haha
HIGHLY RECOMMEND
We were in auckland last week and we had my mother in laws birthday on the terrace. Food was a buffet, roast ham & beef, roasted veges, salmon, oysters, salads were so delicious! Staff were just so kind and welcoming! Such a beautiful place we got to spend her birthday with the family.
Thank you so much!
We came with family for dinner - drinks were good. All our food apart from vegetarian burger was old and stale. Mushrooms given with burger were bitter though. Veges with salmon had no taste, salmon was hard, Thai curry had no taste. We did not say anything then as we were celebrating and did not want to ruin our night further. The staff was really friendly. I wonder if we were given stale food due to a party they had at the venue. Oh and fried chicken was stale too it tasted sour. I could not finish any of my food. Next morning everyone else in the morning has sore and lose tummy. So never again Fisher house and will not recommend it to anyone.
We went out for a work lunch here. A few of us ordered the salt and pepper squid and some of this hadn't been cooked properly. Our mains were brought out and the staff had forgotten the changes we had asked for. They did do their best to rectify this. The steak also was quite bland.
Very disappointing high tea. Nice enough venue and appears reasonably clean although the presence of a large cockroach in the dining room should have been enough of a warning to make us leave. The plastic flowers on the table were a bit tacky and the bathroom, although clean looked very tired. The venue is essentially a reasonably nice local bar, with a small restaurant that happens to serve high tea. In that order of priority.
The service was adequate, although we were not greeted at reception and had to go to the bar to attract the attention of the staff. Although this could have been an issue with low staff numbers.
The food was very ordinary - nothing fancy about it. Only one hot savoury, the scones (date) were stodgy the sandwich fillings were okay, but the bread was thick and dryish on the outside. The sweet offerings all seemed to be mass produced and sourced from off site. We left nearly half of the food.
If you are wanting a refined, elegant high tea with delicious, quality food then you may need to look elsewhere. We won’t be going back.
A busy place! Recommend booking!

We stopped in for an early lunch. Fast and friendly service within a nice setting. Had Fish and chips with a salad. Excellent quality and reasonable price.
Had our sons 21st here ️ Perfect! Bar Staff looked after our family. The food delicious and so convenient to all of us! Great safe Parking. Cheers Quentin’s Family.
Superb meal and fullfilled my special requests to make a special day much more memorable! Thank you very much
A nice building with historical events pictured in a book on the table and hung on walls for you to see.
Food was decent, a bit on the pricier side compared to other steak houses. Overall a nice experience with a lively atmosphere.
Very nice establishment never been in before but was surprised. Spirts price wasn't to bad keen to return and try their food.
Great location. Best place in the area by a large margin. Always enjoy excellent service and food. Multiple choices of areas to sit means there is something for everybody.
Been here for both lunch and dinner menus, both are excellent with lots to choose from. Food is tasty and the premises great, well maintained and lovely warm atmosphere. Lots of parking.
They also do high tea, I didn't get any photos but it was also really good with our own private room for our group to enjoy.
