Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple New Zealand reviews
45 Fo Guang Shan temple is a very peaceful & relaxing place. Lovely place to.
Nice traditional style garden and vegetarian food restaurant.
Make sure to wear appropriate clothing when you are planning to visit.
Went in only to have lady not say a word and usher me out and show me a sign (which they never used to have) regarding appropriate clothing.
I was wearing shorts so was not allowed in.
You can at least politely tell me instead of treating me like a criminal.
NOT THE BUDDHIST WAY!
Very disappointed!
Drove up there like others 45min drive and in the past have visited temple many times before so not happy!
This is not a good place to have a breakfast, food is not even worth the money.
The buddhists are also nasty and unfriendly.
I totally not recommending this place. It is a waste of money and time.
If there is zero ill mark them zero, very bad treatment of guests, food not even worth the price you paid for - a waste of time and money.they should keep the place private if they are not able to respect others as much as they want to be respected.
Highly recommended. Beautiful architecture, it is a temple of quite considerable size. You can appreciate a taste of the culture and the feeling of being in another place.
History, calligraphy, souvenirs, cafeteria, ample parking area.
I recommend making a donation as in all places that open their doors to us with free access.
The personnel is very friendly.
The temple is a place where l think you can come to reflect on life and its serenity is divine. The teahouse have a lovely selection of food. Everyone there is friendly and made you feel welcome.
Absolutely loved my first time visit, a beautiful place to walk, talk, give thanks. Most greatful for the warming hospitality of our hosts and guardians of the Fo Shan Buddhist Temple. Many thanks and appreciation.
Lovely ambiance
Serene nature
Peaceful vibes
Great vegetarian food in cafe
Must try fried rice there so tasty
Super photogenic spots
Really enjoyed the cafe atmosphere and the rose tea. Loved the gardens and the temples. Bought a bracelet for a friend's 50th at the gift shop, beautiful and a bit expensive but she's worth it
My partner and I went to The Water drop cafe for lunch on a Sunday.
We over ordered which is not always a bad thing as we got to try three excellent Vegan dishes Barbecue Pork Wonton noodles, a deluxe Laksa (which could have been enough for us both by itself) and everyones favourite Spring Rolls.
I like the occasional bit of vegan faux meat and the bbq pork was good, the noodles were in a light tasty broth and the wontons are delicious, the Laksa was full of flavour, with plenty of noodles, tofu flat noodles.and again faux mixed meats. The broth was flavourful and spicy and warming on a cool day. Lastly the spring rolls were crispy and full of vegetables with a sweet spicy sauce which was very satisfying.
We left some Laksa as we ordered too much food but were keen on trying the vegan Cheesecake to take to a family members but the cue had got so long for lunch that we skipped that treat for next time.
We did take a quick visit around the Temple and it did bring back travelling to Asia in as small way, we will have to come back when we have more time to relax and be spiritual. The Temple appears to serve a large community very well and is very welcoming to all who walk through its gates.
(Do dress modestly or you will rightfully be turned away.) Beautiful temple, such a sacred atmosphere, everyone very friendly too. Food from the cafe was timely and delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed art gallery/installation and also the caligraphy space. We look forward to returning.
Beautiful temple, located in Flatbush, Auckland. A serene point for peace and meditation. A place to pray, enjoy calmness. They say 1. Kneel & bow and join your hands together to pray. 2. Recite ' NA MO SAKHYAMUNI BUDDHA' 3. Wish your own. 4. Ring the bell. 5. Raise pray again.
Them restaurant was so good, Brunch starting at 11am, pure vegetarian.
Amazing place, relaxed atmosphere, so much history! Tried Calligraphy, friendly staff, Food and gifts available, the whole experience is stunning, so much love and care gone into creating this amazing Temple. Good wishes and fortune
Went on a Sunday so quite a few people around but still you can't help but feel restored after a visit to this beautiful place. Had a cup of a very interesting tea and s few snacks at the vegetarian café. Lovely way to spend an afternoon
Beautiful tranquil place to walk through. There is lots to see and read about.
Excellent learning space and place to just take it all in.
Food was good, enjoyed the laksa, but kind of pricy also my order was wrong or staff didnt hear me proper, and for that price you would think that the containers be free especially if container is small ️also timing with food was off i was getting the plates different times, and waited till i was finished for the drinks ️️️
Autumn season here has very beautiful garden view. Nice Chinese traditional style garden and temple, my 22months old baby loves coming here. Great place to have a simple, healthy lunch, or coffee with friends and family, and buy some Asian goodies! I also love their books and CDs, although I don't believe in the religion, its still good to read some of the books, and consistently take my son here to learn and feel Chinese culture and wisdom.
One of the most beautiful & impressive structures in Auckland. The Temple is a very peaceful & relaxing place of worship. Everyone at the Temple was very welcoming to visitors. The gardens are stunning & a great place to reflect & ponder life. Highly recommend
Food a bit pricier than the meaty counterpart, but tastes pretty clean and their vegetarian meat is unique and creative.
A tranquil place to visit, regardless of your religious inclination or spiritual orientation. Whether you want to clear your mind or calm your nerves, or simply absorb the essence of another culture, this is a beautiful and welcoming place to come to. The Waterdrop Café at the temple is also the perfect accompaniment to bless your body with delicious nutrition as well.
