Franklins Bar & Eatery reviews
65 Used to come here semi regularly for a particular meal, sadly tonight was likely the last time. Unfortunately did not know the menu had changed as there was no mention of it on any social media and the online menu had not been updated so was disappointing to find out my favorite dish was no longer available - I understand menus can change and have no issue with this but thought that it would have been advertised on socials/the website for future diners.
I instead ordered the clams off the new menu which sounded nice but was not told it wasn’t actually available tonight and only found out when a bowl of mussels was brought over instead. Nothing else on the new menu caught my eye as it seems all of the staple menu items have had drastic changes with no options of substituting sides for other existing ones. My partner’s steak while tasting nice was well overcooked and not worth a nearly $50 price tag for a small scotch.
Pretty disappointing as we have always loved Franklins and were looking forwards to a nice Valentines dinner only for it to be a bit of a let down.
As we was right next to the speakers it was a but loud, but was a very enjoyable experience
Very lovely atmosphere with plenty of seating. We went at an awkward time so there were heaps of tables around.
Staff were friendly. Food was good but nothing really blew my mind. We ordered the wagyu beef ricotta balls, duck pate and the Mac attack pizza.
Duck pate had a nice pairing with wine jam on top, not too strong and the flavours compliment each other.
The pizza was true to its name, tasted like a Big Mac but on pizza. The crust was crispy but not burnt, which I really appreciate, and the centre had the right amount of fluffiness.
The highlight was the wagyu risotto balls. Very light and crispy on the outside with creamy risotto and wagyu mince inside. There were five on the plate, which we thought was an awkward number for a sharing dish.
It was a bit pricey, and for the wagyu being in mince form, I can't really tell if it was actually wagyu beef or not. But overall enjoyable experience.
Came here for dinner. Really nice place. They were quite busy and we didn't have reservations so didn't get a seat in the nicer area but the atmosphere here we were seated close to the bar was still really good
Staff was super friendly and helpful
The food was quite good. Not blown away by anything but everything was on point including the deserts.
Bathrooms were not the cleanest but then again it was later in the evening and sadly as we know most peeps can't clean up after them self so probably not the fault of the place
Parking is a little bit of a pain. There are some 60min parking around and a hand full of 120min. My first day in Pukekohe so perhaps there is parking somewhere the locals know about that I just didn't see
The chicken burger was good however I feel the buffalo sauce let it down quite a bit (or might not be my taste).
Excellent service Food was VERY overpriced for what was received. I paid close to $25 for a starter of calamari with nothing else, which was the pre crumbed, frozen, deepfried variety. No salad. Meal disappointed by the service was exceptional.
Excellent place and super busy on a Monday night! Loved the painting evening idea too for getting people out and about.
Absolutely loved our dining experience at Franklins, the atmosphere is fantastic, a stylish vibe, the lamb was absolutely delicious.
Great atmosphere, beautiful food with good gluten free options. Affordable. Staff were really lovely.
Cool place
Love the conservatory area. Squid is great. Craft beer, and Guiness and the big Lion Red bottles. Neat staff too
Excellent food, service, food was on table quickly and pretty much came out for all six of us at same time. Can't fault
We took our Australian visitor to the Franklin. The menu is small however it offers a variety of choices to suit everyone. The food exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and efficient. I recommend that you try it. We will return. Thanks team.
We didn't even get in, they were rude. " No more walk-in" I get that you are busy, but a little kindness goes a long way. I gave it 2 star's for bad attitude.
Lovely place for a nice dinner out. The steak was delicious! Lovely atmosphere!
Great staff!
Great food but service was average never came back to ask if we wanted another round of drinks, asked to have a/c turned down a bit but was never actioned
Food was good except at the time they didn't have all the menu available. Will still try it again.
Nice and comfortable inside terrace bright atomasphe staff are hard workers foods are super awesome! Esp chips was soooooo good
Food was nice but not a great selection especially desserts very expensive. They also don't do coffee
Nice atmosphere good selection of food which was well presented and tasty. There was a delay in serving each of our guests their meal so by the time we all had our food the first person's was only warm. Apart from that we had a lovely time
Gorgeous and popular bar. Multiple areas with different seating.
Tables are fairly close so there is bumpage, especially if you are seated on a table end.
Great atmosphere with friendly staff and a great welcome and departure from the staff on the door.
