Not usually my scene or a must visit. However the good lady dragged me along this morning, and I must say I enjoyed it more than she did. The 2 hostesses Suzy and Gisalda were enthusiastic and proud of the opportunity to explain and discuss with me any questions that I may have had. The ladies need top marks for a job well-done. If I had a situation vacant that would be a fit for them they would be my first call. Visit date 26/08/23

Very interesting historic property with well-preserved artifacts donated by the actual family that live here and called Highwic "home"

Loved exploring Highwic last weekend. The staff Chris and Lee were so kind in sharing their knowledge with us about the family and history of the house. We ended up spending two hours there and will definitely be back for one of their upcoming baking events.

It is a beautiful house more than 100 years old. It is very well planned house. The lady who gave the introduction to the Bucklander family gave a very well description about the family and this lovely house too. One can travel time and see the architecture and beauty of the house inside and outside.
It has a beautiful green lawn where one can come and have a picnic in the summers outdoor.

Highwic is a great place to visit in Auckland. Before our tour around the house, we enjoyed a very entertaining story about the house owners. Then it was so interesting to see all the interiors and imagine how the people lived there. I didn't take any pictures, but there is definitely a lot to see.

Uninviting, antiseptic and antiquated with ugly colour scheme. Needs at least two picnic tables and benches for relaxing lunch and lovely respite from Westfield hustle & bustle. Awesome potential so come on people!

Went there with a bus tour. We were given a very interesting talk on the history of the house and could ask questions and then we could wander around the beautifully kept house and gardens.

Beautiful gardens and seems there is also a lava cave under one boundary wall. Very mysterious and was just awesome to visit on my own one day.

This place and the stories associated with it are just amazing. The house and its inhabitants had an important role in the development of Tāmaki Makaurau/ Auckland. The displays and information panels give a strong sense of what life was like in the late 19th century for affluent Pākehā families. It’s also the first stop on the Pouhere Taonga/ Heritage New Zealand tour of the Waikato sites from the New Zealand Wars. Also surprisingly quiet and tranquil even though surrounded by Westfield Newmarket and the Newmarket Flyover.

What an amazing experience I had today, the moment I entered on the hill I felt like I m in 1920s, the house itself is beautiful and the receptionist RUTH was just amazing.while she was explaining me everything about the Buckland family tree, I felt like that I m In that time when stories happened in highwic.such an amazing in day this house. I was going out and coming back so many times as I liked it so much.everything inside the house is a kind of story. I must say, People who like history and visiting historical houses should must visit here. I even felt like If i stayed over there longer, I might gonna end up bringing my bags to stay over there. Very Peaceful.
I m’m sure that i will be visiting highwic again someday!

Lovely school holiday trip to explore this huge mansion. Very kid friendly with the search and find activities. Clipboards and pencils provided! The gardens were also a fun place to explore.

I felt like I had gone back in time the moment I entered this house. Was fascinating to see how life was, a little over a century ago. The man who worked there was very nice and helpful, and educated us on some extra interesting facts. Nice to do if you have a couple of hours to spare!

If you are a little in love with the beauty of the past, this place will not disappoint. My partner and I were the only ones there and we took our time exploring and delighting in the details of how well made things were. Also intriguing to think of the relationship between the lady of the house and her unpaid companion. The companion was chosen by the dying first wife to become the next and care for the children (as well as having many more). The garden is lovely and I'd recommend dressing up in old fashioned clothes and having a picnic! I wish it was a bit cheaper and then I'd visit more often ($10 entry).
