Honey Cafe

"Today is a rainy Sunday, and I had plans to meet friends for brunch in Takapuna. We found this highly-rated cafe on social media and, on the way there, I called to make a reservation. I was told there would be a 30-minute wait. When I arrived at the cafe, I informed the staff that we had arrived and were waiting for our table. I appreciated that they managed to find a table for two families after the 30-minute wait, despite the cafe being quite busy, especially during meal times.

Once seated, we began chatting and ordered coffee and drinks. It wasn't until after we had finished our coffee that the food started coming out slowly, with pancakes on the menu mentioned to take 20 minutes. This part was a bit puzzling. The first dish arrived after 40 minutes of being seated, and the pace of service was disappointing. While our companions had finished their meals, we were still waiting for two more dishes.

Suddenly, we noticed that the dishes we had ordered were placed on the table of customers who arrived after us. Upon inquiry, it turned out there had been missed two orders. One of them was the pancake.and we were informed that our pancake order would take an additional 20 minutes. Unfortunately, we had to cancel the order, and have to order a quick dish for kids which is a fries. I'm sharing this review not to damage their reputation, but as someone who has dined at many busy cafes, I've never experienced being overlooked in this manner, and it missed two orders. Shouldn't busier times come with better customer service? At the very least, they should ensure all orders are placed?

In the end, they offered us the fries for free, but I have to admit I was disappointed with their service. It’s been waiting for so long. Their coffee was still quite good, but I don't think I'll be returning.

Delish food. My mate had the creamy mushrooms and they were insane. I had a bagel and it was so pretty and really yummy. The servers were sweet and efficient.

Terrible service, we are 2 families with 4 little kids, been told have to wait for the seats for a while, we waited for 30mins, 4 or 5 waitress there, two staff rather standing in front of the till doing nothing and not willing to help us figuring out seats.no interaction, no smile on their face.then finally seated but waiting for food for 40mins, after another 40mins, most of us have finished meals except one kid and one parent who was still waiting for their foods.staff found they missed their meals. 5 waitress there, come on.have been finally offered free chips only.definitely not recommended for families dining there, we will never come back to this place again

Great customer service. We requested to top up with a bit of almond milk as the latte tasted a bit strong. They remake the latte for us by reducing the shot. Very warm customer experience.

Great service and very friendly staff. They have good range of GF choices. The almond latte was a bit too strong for me. They just redo one for me and check whether I like the coffee. Thank you. I had a great brunch experience there.

The food and service for the cafe is great. However, there are not many parking spaces nearby, and there is a shopping mall nearby, so it is good to use it there, but there is a 2-hour limit.

Good food and good service I go everyday and Kaylani usually serves me she's super good

I dropped in for lunch with my daughter, had a coffee but it was so bitter (burnt beans) I could not finish it. The lunch meal was late as I had to ask the waitress to enquire as to the where-about's it was. (45 min wait) Sorry ladies hope you do better next time.

What a great find! A busy little cafe so you should book a table in advance. Delicious food, great service and dog friendly!

A wonderful boutique cafe, very popular and busy at times.great kids menu and meeting point for a quick coffee or breakfast, brunch, lunch, a great selection of food.very friendly and hospitable staff, attentive and caring.highly recommend

Went in for breakfast on Friday and the food was Devine! Took my mother there for the first time and she was blown away. The service was incredibly fast. We’re quite picky with coffee, Safe to say they smashed the coffee out of the park 10/10! We will definitely be coming back <3

We ordered egg bene with halloumi and avo on toast with poach egg along side green juice and matcha ice latte with coconut milk.

Overall the food and drinks came out quick but is abit pricey.

It's a very nice cafe to grab breakfast or lunch. The ambience is really good and staff is very friendly and helpful. I tried their chicken burger and it was so good. They use decent coffee beans and taste is very good.

Firstly - it pays to book as this is a very popular place.
The food was fabulous - great choice on the menu and in the cabinet. I had the pea and halloumi fritters- OMG a taste explosion in my mouth that sauce was phenomenal.

We came here for brunch / lunch and really liked the menu. There were lots of options that we likes the look of.it was really busy as well which is always a good sign!

Service was efficient but not overly personal - probably due to how busy they were.

The chicken salad was delicious and a decent size portion. Juices were good too!

My husband ordered the Eggs Benedict and thought it was good but not amazing. Not enough hollandaise sauce and a big swirl of something purple that didn't really go.beetroot sauce maybe?

The food was delicious & well presented. Despite the busyness of the cafe, our food was served quite quickly. The service is excellent & café well decorated.

Always enjoy visiting Honey Cafe! I had the mushrooms and they were divine, so glad that they can be made vegan and GF too! My sister had the chicken salad which she said was delicious and she couldn't even finish it was so big! Every meal I have eaten here has been well presented and so tasty. Love that they cater to allergies and are baby friendly too

They provide good service! But I don’t really like my French toast with orero cookie in the middle. My friend ordered honey chicken and omelet are better than mine!

Enthusiastic waiters bring sunshine to the restaurant. The food presentation is very thoughtful, and the color matching makes people happy. Pull in a list that is worth visiting frequently.

Really nice French Toast! You will never get a table on weekends, too busy. Come on weekdays better.
