Nice pub with a good atmosphere. Nice food. Very quiet on a Thursday which was a surprise.

Have been a few times now, food is good the staff are always friendly and the place has a good atmosphere about it definitely worth checking out

This place has come through some hard times to now excel. I enjoyed it in the old days. There were challenging times in between due to cost and light rail restrictions. But the rebirth is awesome under new management. What a gem, great food, great atmosphere, attentive bar staff, and a manager who lives to give. If you used to go and got put off, give it a go. If you've never been you are missing out. But definitely check the daily specials and time your visit for a win, the food is restaurant grade, not pub easy. Highly recommended.

Went here for my cousin’s 21st birthday, great space, the staff were lovely, and the food they served was really good.

Spent big bucks for my daughter's 21st here. Food was tasty but half of our guests left before the platters arrived. Very dissapointed with the service

Wonderful staff and an excellent menu gave me optimism that went unfulfilled. Shouldn't have ignored that it was empty when we arrived.

Our own version of the Cheers bar where everyone does know our name. We have been running workshops upstairs for years for clients. And we love nothing more than a drink in the bar chatting with the friendly owner, Jason, afterwards. The menu is made of good old fashion pub food with something for everyone. And they have a wide selection of beers and wine Very friendly staff and locals and nothing is too much trouble. Highly recommend as a local watering hole.

Friendly bar staff. Free parking available with terminal at bar. Live band was setting up and environment was great. Average prices for drinks and what ypu would normally expect in this part of the city.

Loved the downstairs function area, great size for around 30- 50 people utlising the outside area as well. Finger foid was great too

Like a proper pub, your local where people are pleased to see you.

Love this place, modern yet old school enough to feel at home. Best outdoor deck. Then there's the guys who take care of us. WOW just awesome.if you go there twice, you will feel like Norm from Cheers

The usual uninspiring food as you'd find in any cookie cutter 'gastro pub'. The spongy batter on the fish and chips - the bland pizzas. Not bad food at all - just dull.

The heaters outside on a cold raining night were not on until we kept asking, and after that they kept turning them off every so often possibly to save power even tho a lot of people were outside in the cold. Their bad isn’t stocked very well running out of pineapple juice very quickly. Customer service good.

We had a table of 12.service was ok it felt like not much training had been given.all but 2 people got their meals on time.and everyone was well finished before the last 2 got there's.plus they did not specify between a calamari main and starter so they went to the wrong people.more training.more smiling and maybe an extra chef

Haven't been to the Horse and Trap for ages, but it has a good selection of food and beers and the prices are ok.
The ribs were a big serve & other family had the roast lamb, which was apparently very good.
Two fires inside made it a warm & welcome respite from the cold night outside.

Not recommended to use an Entertainment Book voucher there! For what started as an enjoyable birthday dinner, we received nasty customer service from the manager when we showed our valid online voucher. He even tried to say it was an Australian voucher (is there a Horse & Trap Mt Eden in Australia?) and then claimed our current voucher was a scam, which it wasn't. From this behaviour, we would not go there again. Entertainment Bk have since removed this restaurant from their listings.

Had lunch here. Very good service and nice environment. Braised pork belly is a little soft; pizza of the day is good. Fish and chips for kid. And brownie and coffee too. Average $30 each adult

Great place for private parties. Good range of beers and served good food too. Staff were great.

The whole family went there for Sunday lunch. We ordered pizza of the day and chef's roast of the day. Both taste perfect. You can also get a free kids meal for Sunday. The staffs are welcoming. Will definitely visit again.
