The taste is pretty good, the environment is pretty good, and it’s very comfortable compared to other yum cha restaurants in Auckland.

We had drinks during the day, and really enjoyed them, so decided to go back for dinner having watched the sunset from the Sky Tower. It looked promising with Chinese Ducks hanging, and plenty of Chinese guests, but unfortunately the food was dreadful. My dimsum starter was OK, but my husband's soft-shelled crab was nearly all batter and we couldn't taste any crab. Worse still was the 'duck' which was a breast - definitely not from one of those hanging - totally without flavour. Absolutely dreadful. We complained, and they had the audacity to offer a 15% discount on the food (we thought they had said 50% which would have been more reasonable). Definitely not to be recommended! I don't know if we had bad food because we weren't Chinese and they thought we wouldn't notice - but we did and it was dreadful. One of the worst meals I have had - and I am a cook by trade.

I've been there many times, but today was surprisingly bad. I understand that some of the staff members were very experienced and did their best to follow up, but there were too many staff members who were inexperienced and inconsiderate. It took 20 minutes to order a drink and have it come out. I saw that other customers who had ordered later had their drinks first, so I looked over at the staff and they brought out a drink that had been left outside for a long time with lots of water droplets on it. The staff didn't come to take my food order for a long time, so I raised my hand several times and managed to get the staff to stop and order. When I unfolded the table napkin on my seat, my pants were full of white fluff. Even though I immediately called the staff and showed them my pants and asked them to take action, they just apologized and did not suggest a solution. They didn't even give me replacement napkins. The food tasted completely different from before and was not good. The shrimp chili seemed like a completely different dish. In addition, the Peking duck pancakes were dry and stuck together, making it difficult to separate them. The emphasis is on getting things out quickly, and taste has become secondary. At the end of the day, when I went to checkout, I was overcharged because my drink had been double charged. I know Huami in good times, so what happened?

Food was good here.service is excellent. We ordered a variety of dim sums and happy with the quality. The dessert was amazing with the right balance.the only issue is probably the kids meal as the fried chicken lacked flavour and crisp. Follow for more @cloverbakesnz

Super bad service, not only when you go in or sit down, they just THROW the food on you table. I’m not racism but I think this is the worst Chinese restaurant I have ever been to, these Chinese girls don't deserve to work here. The food price not matching your service. If you want to experience why there is such a bad service attitude in New Zealand, I recommend you come:)

Very yummy traditional Shanghai Style Chinese food. The seasoning is not too strong and the portions are moderate, so you can enjoy many dishes.
I particularly recommend the xiao long bao (小籠包), which is the best Chinese restaurant in the CBD.

Huami serves the best Chinese cuisine in Auckland. Everything is just perfect. Ordered the set menu this time and it was such a feast! Can’t wait to visit again!

Fancy yumcha place but probably not my go to. Wouldn't say the food is any better than other yumcha places (its still very good) but its shiny and the service is good. Suitable for some occasions like a date.

Our visit to Huami, our first visit to this beautiful restaurant, surpassed all expectations I had for celebratory lunch. Our reception to the restaurant was friendly and our hostess not only warmly welcomed us to Huami, but also wished my companion a Happy Birthday. Our server (whose name, unfortunately, I do not know) provided the best and most attentive service I’ve experienced since moving to New Zealand nearly five years ago. He was prompt to take our order, refilled our water as soon as needed, and seemed to anticipate our needs before we thought to make a request. The food was delicious and our portions were generous. I look forward to my next visit in the near future.

Save your money, terrible food. Especially avoid the oil filled wonton's and flavourless, chewy calamari. Shame really as the restaurant position and condition is great.

My sister and I had such a great time. The service was the best I have experienced at a restaurant in years. The food was also phenomenal.

We were disappointed for these food, the pepper beef was tender but was cool and not very peppery.the fish dish wasn’t tasty at all.the staff was nice and gave us 20% discounts.

Terrible untrained and incompetent staff. Few examples below:

1. Was my birthday and given a gift (homemade sweets) from my Aunty, the clueless waiter rudely and awkwardly told us “ahhh, you cannot eat that here. ” Obviously we are civilised enough to know that. When we clarified it was a birthday gift he then continued to make unidentifiable mutters and started taking notes on his notepad. We were so confused as to what was happening, he finally utters some words I identified as “you get a treat from us for your birthday…”. Outcome no treat was provided as promised.

2. Xio long bao was sold out.

3. Dumpling platter: chewy skin, mediocre filling. Can the chef cook?

4. Price to quality and portion ratio was ridiculous.

5. Peking duck, pancake was over sticky from sitting in the steamer for far too long. Presentation of the duck itself sat on a small plate. We ordered a whole duck? !

Overall this is a Place for tourists who wouldn’t know any better. This place sums up the food industry in New Zealand perfectly: unskilled/trained staff, over priced food, poor service, poor execution.

Huge fail.

Overall, my experience at Huami Chinese restaurant was very disappointing. The restaurant advertised a set menu on their website that was not available, and the manager did not apologize for the misleading information. The restaurant also did not serve traditional Chinese tea and only had infused tea bags. Additionally, the glass door to the outside dining area was left open, causing cigarette smoke to fill the indoor dining area, making for a very unpleasant dining experience.

The steamed fish was overcooked. Although the food quality was reasonable, the management and advertising were the worst part of the experience. Additionally, the restaurant charged for condiments such as chillies, which I found to be unreasonable. To make the experience worse, the staff asked if we would like to split the bill or pay for all, which I found unprofessional and unnecessary (Tips: don't initiate).

I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Me and my partner decided to eat here just to find a place to eat dinner together. The service was lovely from the beginning - seated within 15 mins, and the restaurant and bar has a lovely atmosphere. The food was delicious - we tried the beef, lamb shanks and stir fry vegetables. The lamb was absolutely the highlight, marinated perfectly and just melts in your mouth. I think the price was worth the food. We left very satisfied. Highly recommended chinese restaurant and bar

Just visiting Auckland for a few hours and found Huami. It was the best Chinese food I have had in a long time.
