Janice Sommerville Ltd

I would not recommend Janice at all. All orthodontists will make your teeth nice, but great orthodontists will make the experience a pleasant one. This is not the case with Janice, and many friends who were previous patients have said the same.

I had braces for several years with Janice when I was younger and returned as an adult in 2022 to correct a gap that had formed between my front teeth. I had asked to discuss Invisalign or a long term solution like a removable retainer but was not offered any treatment, and I was just told it would be ‘expensive’. No further information was given for me to make an informed decision. The solution provided instead was to crank my front teeth together painfully and wonkily and glue a wire retainer to hold them together.

During the process I asked Janice to stop and she smacked my hand away and told me off. I found this experience this so disrespectful and shocking that I cried while leaving the appointment which Janice and the team later used as an excuse to refuse to treat me. The bad placement of the wire behind my teeth meant I could not chew or clench my teeth at all, but Janice told me I would ‘get used to it’ and charged me $200 for the experience. When I called later to discuss that I couldn’t chew or clench my teeth due to the wire she flat out refused to change or review the wire placement. I was completely unable to eat anything but liquids until I sought help elsewhere.

I ended up going to another orthodontist a few weeks later who was able to give me beautiful teeth again by giving me braces for three months, and a long term retainer. My experience with the new orthodontist was respectful, gentle, informed and enjoyable, things I never experienced with Janice in my many years visiting her as a teenager.

Definitely look elsewhere for a good experience, especially if you are a parent looking for help with your child.

Have had two children go through the orthodontist process with Janice and can highly recommend her. We now have two confident children with perfect teeth!

I would definitely recommend Janice and her team. My son first went to Janice in 2015 as a 10 year old. His teeth needed substantial work however we were never pushed into doing anything and Janice was happy to wait till the necessary baby teeth had fallen out before starting our treatment plan – this took well over 16 months. All in all we were with Janice for 5.5 years, first with braces and then a plate. We have found the whole team to be friendly and completely professional. Appointments were always scheduled where possible out of school hours and any between-appointment problems were dealt with speedily. And the final resulting smile is amazing!

Went to Janice when I was 15 after being turned away by several other orthodontists because I would be too hard for them to treat. Janice was amazing! With the help of maxillofacial surgeon Lance West, they transformed both my face and my teeth and I couldn't be more grateful! Janice is straight to the point and willing to do whatever is necessary to give you the best result possible, so I would 100% recommend her services.

Would 1000% recommend Janice and her team! My teeth were super problematic, but Janice came up with the best solution and the results are amazing! I got my braces off a couple of days ago and haven’t stopped smiling since! The easy, relaxed and friendly atmosphere that Janice provides has made the whole experience so much better - I cannot thank you guys enough!

My 12 year old had her braces fitted with Janice. She is 13 years old now and got the braces off a couple of weeks ago. Such an efficient, punctual, effective place to be. My daughter had cause to contact the clinic in between appointments on a few occasions and the team were accommodating and sympathetic to her predicament. Thoroughly recommend.

Excellent level of customer service from Tracey at reception, Margaret-Ann the practice manager, through to Janice and her team in the 'treatment' room. Had something break in my daughters mouth and got scheduled in straight away and fixed - without any drama, the complete opposite to the clinic where my son went for his orthodontics. Cannot praise Janice and her team enough, hugely professional and highly recommended.

Janice Somerville Ltd is extremely professional and efficient practice. The staff are always very friendly and helpful. My son's teeth needed a lot of encouragement to straighten up and now, in less than 18 months, he has a perfect smile. We couldn't be happier with the results. Janice is a miracle worker!
