Java Jungle Cafe reviews
61It used to be the best value for money eggs Benedict. The food is still good but price has gone up with service gone down. The last two times the waiter has forgotten food or gotten the order wrong.
Grade A!
Nice little water front spot and prices have increased from the last time we were there few months ago. Enjoyed our meal and coffee was delicious.
Parking: you’ll be lucky to get one close by, took a while to find one and nearly gave up but found one just as we were about to drive off.
Ordered
Salmon Eggs Benedict $28.50
Bacon Eggs Benedict $27
Ice Coffee Frappe $8
Ice Chocolate Frappe $8
Mochaccino in a bowl $7.50
And soft drinks for $3
Visited today and did not enjoy the experience. Manager was openly critical of staff which was awkward to be around. Food was expensive and poor value for money. I ordered a toasted sandwich with three fillings for $15.50 and received two slices of plain white sandwich bread with sparse toppings.
Such a great place close to the water. Massive menu, we had Mince on Toast and Bacon Bennie. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu
The food is very delicious, been to Brown Bay quite a few times, this is the best cafe here
Lovely spot with views of the water from outside. Great food, coffee and staff
Hubby had breakfast salad & I had the vege pride with salad
I got the eggs Benedict and the sauce was not what I was used to so I asked the manager and he yelled at his staff that made the sauce then when we left he was abusing them
Would not recommend
Was here for a birthday celebration with family at 1000hrs on a Sat so it wasn’t too busy. The service was really friendly and accommodating & the food was fabulous. Def going back
Went on a public holiday and the place was full. A 30 min wait but didn't mind as our food was delicious. Great portions and well priced for a fantastic location.looking out at the ocean.
No table service had to queue to order, mixed up orders wen they arrived and the food was not cooked well, very pricey for what we got, will not rush to go back
The staff are lovely. The food is good in general, though what I ordered was not ideal (Beef Panini) had little filling, so it was more bread than beef. It was still tasty and the coffee was good too.
Popped in for a coffee on a rainy day. Coffee was fine but $6.50 for a large cup?
Won't be going back.
Exceptionally bad coffee (cappucino & mocha) yet the iced coffee tasted good but was overpriced. The blueberry muffins looked OK but were underbaked and soggy inside. Just not the best experience!
Always awesome food and service. I had the creamy mushrooms with poached eggs and hash. Brilliant coffee.
Ordered Toasted cheese, onion and bacon sandwich today. Took over 20 minutes to arrive. Bread toasted but bacon completely dry, hard, coiled up.
Fell out of sandwich!
Tiny pieces of cheese still untoasted, onion also untoasted. A dreadful apology for what should have been a delicious melting lunch.
The maker of the sandwich did not have a clue as to how to prepare same! Totally disappointing. Not returning.
Small positive is they have gluten free bread, although not advertised they do have it - This waitress was lovely! I discussed with another waitress about fries when ordering, as i can not eat potato if i could substitute them for kumara fries, she agreed and even joked with me about how awkward it is order so many substitutes. I assumed there may be a couple extra dollars for the gluten free bread, and *maybe* substituting the fries. Not $9.50 for a whole new plate of Kumara fries when discussing the substitute - my plate still came with regular fries on it as well. $42 for just my meal of a smoothie and the CLAT, my friend who ordered the same thing didn't end up having chicken on her plate, easy fix, the first waitress was lovely about it. When i asked to see a receipt after to make sure, she couldn't print one and then said something about "I hope there's nothing wrong with it you already payed". A 45 Minuet wait for food, missing meals and not following through with originally intended price points and substitutions, very disappointed, will not be returning.
Was very disappointing - 2 adults and 3 children, very expensive, all the food was cold, coffee lukewarm, Hollendaise sauce was sour. Couldn't send back the food to kitchen due to having the 3 young ones. In saying that the girls serving were very good at their jobs. The manager/owner overheard our passing the above onto the waitess when paying and he said nothing just kept on playing on his phone.
Excellent coffee but unfortunately the muffins and cookies were old and stale hence the two out of five stars.
I’m not usually fussy when it comes to coffee but unfortunately this was the worst coffee I’ve ever tasted. I had three sips and couldn’t finish it (and that’s saying something because I’m a stingy uni student). The food was also very messily presented and look slapped together by someone with no experience in the kitchen.
The staff were friendly therefore a 2 star.
Friendly staff, clean toilets, cabinet food fresh & good selection + menu for bigger bites.
