Kitchens By Design - Takapuna Showroom

Marianne is the dream kitchen designer. She took the time to really listen to all our different ideas and dreams for our kitchen. The results are exemplary and we would not have wanted to enter into this project without her. The installation was second to none, with a professional team who worked with us and communicated every step of the way. Thank you, Kitchens By Design.

To give context - I wanted a dream custom kitchen and I have very good attention to detail (meaning I'm fussy), so my kitchen was never going to be cheap and a lot of effort went into the design. I chose Kitchen Work Space as the cabinetmaker (recommended by my designer at Kitchen by Designs; and also known as just "Work Space" but difficult to find online, hence the review here).

Simply - they are amazing. Perfectionists, treated the kitchen like the piece of art that it is, easy to contact, great to work with, responsive. They cared about my kitchen just as much as I did and didn't shoo me away when I hovered over them during the install. They were proud of their work and I appreciated them pointing out the small details to me. I highly recommend them if you're looking for something special.

The kitchen was designed by Sue Gilbanks, who also recommended the colour scheme (photos unfortunately have an unusual filter and don't show the grey/white contrast nor the variations in the countertop).

Our new kitchen looks amazing. Marianne from Kitchen by Design did an amazing job. We had a clear view of what we wanted and Marianne listened to our input and the final design was better than we had hoped for. Marianna always replied instantly to our questions and the whole process was smooth as can be, even during the unsure times of lockdowns. The quality is top notch and as a result we now have a new favorite room of our house.

After extensive research into potential designers to help us create the kitchen of our dreams, as well as a laundry, we decided to go with Kitchens By Design (KBD) in Byron Avenue, Takapuna.

We are so pleased we did as we now have a kitchen that is beyond our wildest dreams, from both an aesthetic and functional perspective. We absolutely love it! We also have a fantastic laundry that cleverly maximises the limited space.

We thoroughly recommend KBD and in particular would like to acknowledge designer Marianne Gailer, who did superb work on our behalf, KBD Owner Richard Cripps - including for the stunning cabinetry - and Vernon for the meticulous installation

We also recommend Paul Thomas and his fantastic team at Architectural Stone, who sourced for us and installed with precision the beautiful natural stone for our kitchen island and splashback, while Paul Troake Construction’s team of builders also did great work for us.

We couldn’t be happier with the result!

We had a fantastic experience with Kitchens by Design; Marianne was a great listener which meant we got exactly the kitchen we wanted - but better. She made sure to stick to the budget and provide us with options and recommendations how to save money. We felt extremely well looked after and the kitchen suppliers did a fantastic job installing the kitchen in a timely manner, paying excellent attention to detail and going out of their way to make sure that we ended up with a perfect, flawless space. From the minute I walked into the Kitchens By Design showroom in Takapuna, and met Marianne Gailer, I knew our kitchen would not only look fantastic, but would be delivered to the best quality.and I wasn't wrong. Marianne is creative with her designs, she listened to what we wanted and worked with us to achieve a kitchen, that till recently I was only able to dream about. Marianne From Kitchen by Design in Takapuna, has an eye for detail and listens to your requirements. Our kitchen is small and our house very hard to fit, so we needed storage solutions that would work for us. Marianne was fantastic at finding alternative ways to squeeze out that extra bit of storage, like kick board drawers and not wasting any space under the sink where an insinkerator is housed. A fantastic result!

My experience here was VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNCONSIDERED!
While visiting the showroom on Saturday and discussing my design with Marianne, she just walked off while I was in mid-sentence, to discuss bench top options with another couple. Not an 'excuse me' in sight, or a brief description to them, then coming back to me to continue our discussion, she just walked off!
This is a very unprofessional approach and I was made to feel like my time that it had taken me to travel to the showroom unconsidered. I will never go back to them!
