My husband and I started using La Hughes before the business was sold to Aqua Plumbing. We used them for a complete gas and water fit out in our tiny house build.

When owned by Luke, everyone was wonderful, responsive and professional. We were kept informed and had a wonderful experience. Half of our work was done under Luke’s ownership and the other half done after the business was sold to Aqua.

Our tiny house was moved out of the Auckland area and once we moved into it found our gas oven had not been installed to manufacturer recommendations. We cannot use our gas oven and one of our hob burners.

We started this process in January 2023, it is now May.

We have been stuck in the process of trying to get Aqua to help us sort our oven out this whole time. Countless emails and phone calls to be told they’ll find a local gas fitter to help. Then silence.

We can’t get a warranty replacement for our oven until Aqua say they installed it properly, and they won’t.

Luke was great, but the new owners are not. I haven’t wanted to write this because of how great Luke was, but this has become a last resort.

Not sure how good they are but their driving skills and manners are below average. Fully branded van KKG851 running red lights at Wairau onramp at 7am this morning. Must've been in a rush to a sewer leak.

Now 13 April 2021 rang for help, no hot water in just bought home, trying to get in and find out what the problem is.
Got told first time could look at my problem two weeks out.
Wow what service no showers dishwashing or cleaning of house or body.
Just lost me as customer could have spent 30 minutes to scope problem and then advise solution.

Gas fitter came when he said, fixed our problem quickly as it just needed to be turned off and on a few times but he was very careful to show me what to do if it happens again would defiantly get them again if something goes wrong

Gasfitter fixed our pool heater and serviced our house gas heaters. Straight up and down guy, lots of good advice & fixed everything cost effectively.would definitely use again.

I needed a gas hose replaced for the external 45kg bottle.

Tech arrived and started disconnecting the gas bottle. I stopped him and asked "before you start, can you tell me how much it will cost? " He answered " I don't know" then he continued disconnecting the bottle. Then I had to ask a couple more time to get the answer.

Took less than 10 mins and replaced two hoses.

$40 for the call out fee
$95 for the 1 hour min labour charge
$70 for the gas hose
$30.75 gst

$235.75 total.

Luke and his team converted our old electric hot water cylinder to Rinnai continuous flow and also installed a new Rinnai Energysaver gas heater. There was excellent communication throughout the process and we felt the price was quite reasonable. We are very happy with the work and would recommend L A Hughes.

I was nearly smashed into by the owners of this company in a signwritten van who was on his phone while driving. This is illegal.
