One of the best dining experiences I've had in Auckland. Great service, great venue, amazing food and the pricing was outstanding.

Lively place for meeting friends and having a delightful variety of Asian inspired (Sechuan mostly) small plates and interesting drinks.

This is a great little spot for a lunch with friends, place is really vibing. The food is good and obviously reasonably priced, cocktails are so good also.

I had heard good things about this place and we finally got to check it out last night. My wife and daughter and I walked in with no booking and were seated almost immediately by the manager. He was super friendly and explained how it all worked. We took a while but placed our order of 9 plates and 3 drinks. Our phone said 4 mins to service which we all laughed at but sure enough less than 4 min later our drinks turned up and then the first of the plates, beef cheeks. Unbelievably good! Then the next plate and so on. Every single dish was amazing from the beef cheeks to the chilli chicken to the chicken and beef skewers to the dumplings. Great atmosphere and staff, we have been out and about a bit lately and have been disappointed but for the first time in ages I had nothing negative to say. We will 100% be back, the manager was full of energy, friendly and made the experience even better. If you haven't been do yourself a favour and check this joint out.

Delicious and budget friendly food, came out super quickly as well. Will definitely try their bottomless brunch, as I wasn’t able to try their drinks. Decor and Ambiance is great but is definitely more suited to older kids and adults (as it is a bar) but you can still bring your kids here I guess, for the good food.

Place and food was great although the drinks I ordered was not to my liking. Too much background noise because the place is packed. They have the best dumplings.

Everything cost $8.88 from cocktails to amazing food. Was blown away by the service and atmosphere. The buckwheat noodles were our favourite of the night.

Great place. Cheap as cocktails. Not sure how strong they are tho. Order via q-code and drinks and food literally cone within minutes.

Fun for the first leg of the night, good for groups. Beautiful spicy offerings. Adventurous, high-risk menu that delivers consistently.

Have been 3 times and always a great experience. Love the food but not much face to face experience. Wouldn’t recommend for larger groups of more then 10.it can get quite noisey.

This restaurant is fantastic. The dishes are all great and flavourful, the decor is an absolute vibe, and most importantly — it’s reasonably priced, which is a rare find in 2023 on Ponsonby road. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu here, however the chilli chicken and pork belly fries are two standouts for me. The manager Nathan is very accomodating, and quick to fix any issues should they arise. Be prepared for a bit of a wait for a table if going on a Friday or Saturday evening — that’s just how popular it is! I love this place and will definitely be back.

Great choice! Quick service, awesome atmosphere and outstanding food! Imagine, $8 for an enormous, succulent plate of beef cheek! The place is pumping with a young set but we felt very welcome.

Cocktails had no alcohol in it - tastes like sugary water. Bathroom is quite yuck with no ventilation and dimmed lights overpacked

Prices are now 8.88. Nice to have a changed up menu. Just remember what you order as some of the orders get mixed up with it being quite busy. Food and drinks are good.

Great food, much like a hybrid yum char (tapas) experience. Need to know how to scan QR codes to order. Nice ambience, only thing that let it down was the booming techno music. Younger crowd I know, but it was only lunchtime!

I really wanted to like Lucky 8 but I was pretty disappointed with my experience. The food was ok. Not deserving of the hype especially with such high quality competition within walking distance. 3 dishes didn’t turn up (not order error because we ordered on the app) and had to ask for them multiple times. The floor staff were completely disengaged and unbothered (the host was lovely but the floor staff seemed annoyed at us when we asked for the missing dishes and some water - we got an eyeroll which I could understand if we’d have been rude but it was busy, we asked nicely and were really patient). The cocktails are what you pay for. Probably the worst part of the experience was the horrendous state of the toilets - they definitely weren’t having regular cleaning checks (the toilet seats are black and the lights are really dim and it still appeared as if they hadn’t been checked all day - maybe cleaned in days. Not ideal for a venue with such a high turnover of people visiting!). I’m so sorry. It’s just not the place for me.
