Went there for diner a while ago and it was the best dining experience I had in Auckland.
The sashimi is a 'must try', no matter you chose one type of the fish or chose the 'platter' like us. The thick-cut style makes you can feel the sweet of these seafood. So we ordered another one after we had the first plate.
Spring onions in chicken skewers lift the flavor to another level. My partner ordered king crab leg, the only downside for that is the mayo is a bit heavy and override crab.
Will 100% come back for another fantastic diner.

It had been a few years since we had dined at MASU and certainly had high expectations, particularly as it was a belated wedding anniversary celebration. MASU did not disappoint in any way. The food was outstanding and the service superb. Thanks to all the staff who attended to us. The special anniversary dessert was a welcome surprise, thank you. Jeremy runs a great ship at MASU. We will be back again soon!

Nice food. Nice presentation. Not traditional Japanese. More Westernised fusion in its style of presentation. Enjoyed the Tokyo Platter. Pork slider and soft shell crab slider were also good. Service was efficient, polite and informative. We enjoyed our dining experience.

I was back for the third time to celebrate my birthday at this wonderful Japanese restaurant. Three of us had the Tokusan tasting menu and every dish was perfection. The standout was the nigiri platter especially the scallop. I was surprised with a special birthday platter at dessert. Service was exceptional especially from the maître d/mgr who took the time to come over and explain many of the dishes in detail. This was a real treat and we thank him (sorry we didn’t get his name).

We managed to secure a spot at the outdoor dining section. This place is so amazing that’s why it’s fully booked all the time. The place is known for its sashimi and innovative and cute cocktails. Although i ordered the pork belly at that time and it was delicious

Loved it loved it loved it! Celebrated hubbys 50th with our adult children. Opted for the set menu Shomi $99pp and well worth it. Loved every dish. Beef Wagu dumplings were the favourite. We got a taste of so much. Some of the dishes may sound a little strange but give them a go we weren’t disappointed. Appreciated the bar tenders suggestions as we weren’t familiar with Japanese alcohol. Dishes came out at a good pace and cleared timely. I also arranged a Chocolate Vanilla Crème Brûlée Bday cake which is amazing. Took 3/4 of the cake with us to enjoy the next day. Will be back.

Have to try the Masu Natsu Tokusen Menu as it provides an excellent variety of food for someone who is indecisive like me lol. One of the best meals had in New Zealand and unlike other tasting menus, we were full afterwards:) My favorite dishes were the chicken wing and crab legs, but all the food was good! Also the dessert platter at the end solidifying a great experience. If you are looking for a sweet cocktail, I encourage you to try the Masu Royale, you barely notice the alcohol. If you are looking for something a little stronger and/or that looks like a flower bouquet the ikebana is the one.
Overall excellent experience and service phenomenal!

This restaurant has been the best Japanese restaurant I've ever been to. We got a wide selection of small dishes ranging from sushi rolls, tempura veggies, sashimi tuna and sliders. Everything we got was fantastic and it's definitely worth going too at least once!

Fantastic experience all round! Such professionalism. Meals were delicious and unique. My partner and I visited in early January during our Christmas holiday in NZ. The set menu can also be made gluten free, and it was excellent. Service was exceptional as well - our waitress Kantima was lovely! Great sake and wine selection. Highly recommend visiting for a fancy dinner in Auckland city. Make sure you book in advance!

The manager was very good noticing all the small things like water top ups and asking us if our drinks or food was ordered. The newer lady grace was a fantastic server explaining everything in detail and very easy to talk to. All servers and service was impeccable and will highly recommend this restaurant. Thanks to all involved the food was some of the best we have had in NZ

The food was good but not great. The service was okay. We were a large group and when ordering drinks it seemed they forgot me. I needed ask whether I to could have a drink.
We had a room for our group but everytime waiters came and went they left the door open to a very noisy room outside.
It was a final night of a tour for 16 from Germany plus myself as tour guide/driver yet we get dished desert and I assume it was the manager that decided to explain the desert in English.
I had already on several occasions said to the waiter to see my interpreter with me to say in German.
Disappointing. But should have been great

Amazing place. We had a private room for a work function. Awesome food. The Maitre D was exceptional. Extremely informative on every aspect of food and drink. It actually raised everything to another level.

Fantastic experience all round, from Service to Food to Ambience You easily lose track of time, that’s how good it was for us. Only one minor hiccup regarding our mains coming out 15-20mins a part but our server didn’t miss a beat, he noticed what happened and apologised for the inconvenience and tried to rectify it ASAP & kept us informed. Would definitely go back.

Great restaurant, great service and great food.

Upon arriving at Masu, we were seated at the bar where we could order our drinks and look at the menu as our table was getting ready.

We decided to get the degustation Masu Shook meal, which was a fantastic tasting of the selection available at Masu. We also added the king crab leg as it looked amazing in photos.

The first three courses which consisted of their raw fresh seafood were divine. There were so many complex flavours in the taco and the maki roll which I really enjoyed. The veggie tempura was executed perfectly. The gyoza along with the sauce packed a punch and it was something I had not experienced elsewhere before. The teriyaki salmon was perfectly cooked, and the sauce was not overbearing.
Our last main course we had the lamb cutlet and kumara was probably our least favourite, while I found my lamb good my partner found his a little over. One half of our kumara however, was really undercooked in the middle and so had a unpleasant texture and bite to it.

The king crab leg was absolutely delicious, it looks stunning visually. The meat is quite easy to get out of the leg and the smoked wasabi like butter that accompanies it is delicious.

Overall it was a pleasant experience with the exceptional seafood being where Masu shines brightest. Will definitely be back again.

Had a fantastic time celebrating my wife's birthday. Ordered the Tokyo platter which did not disappoint. Presented in a gigantic oyster shell layered with generous layers of fresh, delicious sashimi. Highly recommended for both quality of the food, ambience and service.
