Celebrated mum and dad's 61st wedding anniversary. Had lunch buffet.food was excellent and customer service brilliant. Highly recommend a visit there.

The views here are breathtaking, so beautiful and the staff were all lovely, friendly and professional. I found the food a bit disappointing, and some options from their online menu were not there, like kumara and pumpkin, so vegetarian options were not that great apart from a few pasta dishes.food was average (although was told the fish was amazing). I think they could do better by having a cheese board out and maybe some roast veges.

Absolutely loved it, such a stunning view right on the water. Friendly staff who were so happy to help. My 12 year old granddaughter asked if she can have her birthday here every year.

The staff was excellent. Took care of the table in timely fashion. The buffet was regularly checked and topped up.

While the food wasn't exactly tlt exotic or varied, they were delicious.

The view was great with nice expansive view of the beach.

Was an absolute pleasure dealing with both owner and manager. Everything was clear and they were both so professional. If you want the best all round experience get in contact. You will enjoy a memorable day…

Great location as you look out over the channel and towards Rangi plus fantastic food. Highly recommend.

What a beautiful and historic place. The food was simple (what I prefer) but delicious, and the service was exceptional. I am gluten free and I could eat all except 2 options on the mains, and they made a special batch of mousse for some gluten free dessert. It was a really nice experience!

We always enjoy our meals here. All the food is tasty so I don’t feel there’s a need for a bigger selection. My daughter doesn’t eat meat and yet we find most of the dishes and salads she can eat. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is calming. I also appreciate the spaciousness, especially between tables. No bumping into other people. As it was high tide, the water looks amazing. I suggest you bring some swimwear for a dip afterwards.

We were a party of 11 today for lunch to celebrate 2birthdays. The food was outstanding and Raj and his staff are so lovely. I phoned this morning to see if we could add 2 more people and it wasn't a problem.

Very average buffet with efficiently quick bar service & helpful staff. Beautiful location overlooking the beach is special otherwise mediocre.

We hosted our work Christmas party at McHugh's and it was a great night thanks to the manager James and all the staff making sure everything ran perfectly. Highly recommend!

Thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my 70th birthday. Everybody in my group were delighted in the cuisine on offer. The staff were friendly and most helpful. A great location with beautiful views. Awesome venue.

We were at a private function, the food was nothing special, the building is old (1930ish) but in bad need of was well over due TLC & not just 2yrs of maintenance. The venue is amazing right on the beach. The normal lunch menu photos look amazing also but l haven't been so can't comment.

Lovely place with a beautiful outlook over the ocean. Was married here 11 years ago glad to see the amazing atmosphere hasn't changed.

The location, outlook and ambience were all fantastic but the service and food quality were what really made it. James and his team couldn't have done more for us and were available for anything we needed. A buffet meal can often disappoint but this one was excellent and evey one of Mum's 60+ guests commented favourably, including a few who have been inspired for similar events of their own!

Not exciting, but historic. Very good buffet. Plenty to choose from, and very well cooked. McHughs is an institution. Been around for decades. In a beautiful situation, with amazing views.
