Morningside Tavern

I hosted my 30th birthday at the Tavern and the staff were so friendly and helpful, the atmosphere in the garden bar was great. I couldn't have asked for a better time and I will definitely be coming back again soon! 5 stars.

Six of us dined here for dinner recently. They unfortunately seemed understaffed but the female waitress who served us was prompt and friendly.

Cocktails were delicious - especially the passionfruit mojito!

Food was average - we got three pizzas and a range of tasting plates. All pizzas had an overwhelmingly excessive amount of cheese and a lack of other toppings. I think for the prosciutto pizza only had a few slices of meat on it, which was disappointing. Pork belly bites and prawn toast was the highlight, fried chicken was a bit dry (good spicy sauce though) and greens, although delicious, were pricey for the amount we received. The brownie was an absolute disappointment and lacked a lot of flavour but we had good things to say about the crumble. The food did take a wee while to come out, especially given how quiet the restaurant was.

Other things to note - we had to get our own cutlery and napkins off other tables as we had none, had to find more water when the table ran out and had to ask for salt and pepper. These are basic service things that it would be great to nail for next time.

Unsure if we will be back but a big shout out to the female waitress - she was lovely.

This place is amazing. Suitable for the whole family or a work crowd. Very attentive team and great food. Make it a regular.

Went here for lunch. Great atmosphere and service. Chicken burger was a bit dry but flavour was good, fries were excellent.

Our neighborhood tavern, great food, great vibes, lovely service. Inside or outside, you can’t go wrong, so cozy! Definitely recommend!

Warm, vibrant, family friendly bar. Recently had my hubbies 40th celebration and the staff were amazing. Claire and Julian were so accommodating and the food and drink were on point! Thank you for making our night a memorable occasion. A good variety to suit everyone. I recommend this place to all!

WE WERE OVERCHARGED $50 HERE! By the white skinny man at the bar. My husband went and paid for our meals which he paid $185 which sounded funny to me as we had only ordered 4 meals and 2 jugs of soda? ! I then calculated everything and to my surprise we were right. And to confirm this my husband walked back to the bar looking at the man that charged him, the man had a guilty look in his face telling me already that man knew what he had done. Trying to ignore my husband he walks away acting like he was going to serve another customer so then a lady serves my husband. My husband asked the lady for his receipt where she asked him to pay $135 my husband told the lady he already paid $185 pointing to the man who charged him. They gave us a refund and apologised. This wasn’t an honest mistake as we could tell by the guilty look on the man’s face he knew what he had done adding an extra $50 to our bill. My husband has broken English I can only think that the man thought because my husband can’t speak English properly that makes him too stupid to count too? This was very unfortunate and quite embarrassing because my sister in-law from overseas was with us and we had to deal with this, if she wasn’t with us best believe my Karen would have come out. However the food was amazing and the waitresses were so lovely so kind and welcoming.

No Dave it was no mix up with tables we were the only ones sitting at the booths also the only brown people there also I smiled and waved at the man when my husband went to pay when he asked my husband which table he’s from.

Impeccable service as always great team good always amazing we always order to much but we always want everything so good.

Enjoy the environment and the weekly quiz night. However service could easily be improved with more attentive staff and food is over priced and average.

Had the best time! At the Block Party! The tavern was our base, the atmosphere was great & Staff are so "on to it" Loved it!

First time I've visited and I really enjoyed it. Nice menu, great beers on tap and really friendly and attentive staff. Recommended for sure.

Excellent place for a drink. The staff is great. And shout out to the lovely waitress that brought water and treats for my doggo.

I love it here. The staff are always so friendly and accommodating. My 2 year old has a blast in the sandpit and dancing to the sweet beats.

Could not recommend this bar more. It is the lovliest bar with even lovlier staff. If you are keen for a filthy martini Max is your guy. His are 'chef's kiss'

If your waiter is going to attempt to be pretentious and emphasize that "the price is for the steak only because of the quality of the meat", when nobody asked, it would be wise to make sure its not just overcooked gristle. If I was wanting rubber, I would've gone to a tyre shop. Like seriously, I had to stop eating the steak quarter the way through coz my tongue was sore from chewing too much brought it to the attention of the team, no acknowledgement or remedy, just $27.50 of sadness - ended up going elsewhere to have dinner. Points for the jalepeno poppers, fries, and drinks though, just seriously let down by the waiter setting super high expectations, and the chef underdelivering.

Great location and large setting for bigger groups. We were asked to pre-order our menu food requests ahead of time due to our group having 30 people. Ordered by midday. Booking was for 6.30 and we were waiting until 8.30 for our pre-ordered food. Also very slow on the bar. Good tasting food but the wait is too long.

I booked a table for two online for my partner's Birthday. Upon arrival the staff were so lovely, very warm, inviting and hospitable. Loved, that this one staff member knew at the top of her head our booking for 6PM. The whole evening she was very attentive. I wish I could tip her for her service but had no cash on me. Also, was hoping there would be a tip function on the eftpos machine like other restaurants but there was non. Maybe something to think about as your staff really are amazing.

Our food was amazing, we ordered a variety of things like pizza, calamari, bao buns, seasonal greens, chips with parmesan cheese sprinkled on it and the short rib with pickled cabbage and jute. My partner loved the short rib, it was juicy, succulent and extremely moist. He's been dreaming of it ever since lol. Hes excited to go back for more, we both are. We loved the relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely be coming back and thank you for an amazing evening, this will definitely be our new local

The beef burger and chips was delicious, paired up with a nice hazy pale ale. Great for cold nights because they have a lot of heater outside.
