Moxie Restaurant reviews
64The food was out of this world delicious and the restaurant was top class in every way. The disappointment was with the waiter who served us who wasn’t engaged at all. Very robotic and defensive when I politely asked why a table of 4 adults were being served one entree at a time between us with large time gaps between each dish. He wasn’t rude however just quite distanced. Like ticking a box. Maybe he was super busy. However we were the second to last party to leave and as our group walked past him talking to a waitress he did not acknowledge us and kept talking even though only two or three feet away at best. The waitress was not familiar with a dish and went away to ask. I asked about but I found the two girls very friendly. I would have loved to have given 5 stars however waiter and meals spaced apart was a bit disappointing. I have not experienced anywhere in the world a party sharing all the dishes with one being served at a time. Maybe at a yum cha restaurant perhaps
Buttermilk chicken and Ceviche were beautifully presented and Devine to eat! Beef Wellington was a winner as always thanks James (chef) Staff always friendly and take time to chat since we are locals!
Went to a high tea. So so worth it. Heaps of parking. Amazing food and plenty of it. The whole experience was awesome and so positive and thoroughly enjoyable. What an amazing family business. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful night, the food was absolutely amazing and the side dishes went so well with the Beef Wellington we had preordered. We had a beetroot dish with goat cheese and cauliflower with a potato and truffle foam along with some fries. We started with the sticky pork in a bun and finished with an apple and rhubarb dessert. Everything was just perfect. T he waitress was obviously busy but drinks were attended to, including water for the table. Just one small niggle, the sides didn't come out immediately with the mains, I dislike seeing the mains cooling down while you wait and wait for the sides.
Would highly recommend.
Moxie restaurant i injoy the high tea I never had high tea before I was amazed the food so good the stuff smiled and knew what they are doing professional and they had fun with us I recommend going there
First time to Moxie and was absolutely blown away by the food & service awesome experience definitely taking the family there next time highly recommend.
Moxie has THE best food in Auckland. The environment, decor and service are most adequate but not so over the top to the point where it makes you uncomfortable. They put their main focus on making the food tasty. All of their dishes are well designed and executed. Their Beef Wellington is a must have. I will be recommending this place to all of my friends! Thank you, Moxie, for the wonderful experience!
I came to Moxies with overseas guests to let them experience New Zealand cuisine.
One of our group was on a special diet. The chef did an exceptional quality dish for her which she was very thankful for.
We were all impressed with the quality of the food and service and would recommend Moxie Restaurant to anyone wanting to impress overseas guests or to simply have a very nice meal.
Dined on fixed menu as part of fund raiser for victims of Cyclone Gabriel, the food was great, wonderful setting and staff handled a full house very well, highly recommended.
First time but it definitley won't be the last. Went to dinner as a group for a birthday celebration and we were looked after so well. Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Can't wait to go back to my new local!
If you don’t mind the small portion size and the rude untrained staff, it’s good place. At least food tastes great. Firstly ordered 5 dishes including Wellington beef which claimed for 2-4people. However we ended up order another 2 dishes later. So total we ordered 7 dishes, the Wellington beef was around $85 but look at the portion size below. Besides, the young woman staff keep taking our plates away with/without asking! So impatient. My friend was still eating and there was a big piece there! She just took it away without asking! SOOO RUDE. When we ask for menu again, she was passing by and act impatient to us. We were coming for a slight fine dining experience and a good service here then ended up very unpleasant experience. Won’t come back again.
Absolutely outstanding. One of the best meals I've ever had - and for a good cause too. Service and my cocktail were also top notch. Really can't recommend them highly enough.
Absolutely loved my time here. Everything was delicious, staff were super attentive, friendly and you could tell enjoyed their jobs.
That was my first time ever trying beef Wellington and it was delicious! As was the cauliflower and wallaby toast.
Thanks for a great night!
Had dinner here on Saturday and was delicious. Group of 6 so we had pretty much everything on the menu and it was all really good! Stand-outs for me were the raw fish entree, the Milk Buns (definitely make sure everyone has one of these!) and we pre-ordered the Beef Wellington which was really good value ($69 for 4 pieces!) Great service too. Definitely recommend
We recently dined at Moxie for my wedding lunch and it was such an amazing experience! We only enquired and booked a few days before my wedding and Amy and James made it so easy. Everyone in our group absolutely loved the food, the wonderful service from Amy and the general vibe of Moxie. Really, we haven’t stopped speaking of it! My husband said the chicken he ate was the best in his entire life:) Thanks so much Amy and team. You helped make our day so special, even with our 2yo running wild! Thank you so much!
Oh my god the food was epic! The staff were amazing and attentive, compliments to the kitchen crew and FOH! Lovely atmosphere and the food was so so good. We will definitely be back
Moxie is one of our favourite restaurants! So many restaurants seem to have almost the same menu and decor these days? - but Moxie never fails to disappoint! Delicious, mouth-watering dishes… with flavours from around the world! Their food is outstanding! Every dish we have ever had has been amazing. The decor gives off gorgeous, summery, Beverly Hills vibes and the service is, without fail, friendly and attentive. We are more than happy to travel from the other side of Auckland (Howick) for such a great experience. All I can say is if you haven’t been go! And, if you have been…well I know you’ll be going again.
There's so much to like about this neighborhood restaurant on the shore but it misses the mark as a place you'd recommend as an absolute must. It's like it's trying too hard to be something and misses it's own identity. There's nothing wrong with it at all, the staff are cool, the cocktails are friggen awesome, some of the dishes are spot on but so much is good but not great. If you're going to do Korean chicken or roasted cauliflower- like every friggen restaurant in town - make it really good, not just average. Amano called and they want their ideas from 2015 back. I really enjoyed my night and everything about the place but not enough to want to go back or rave about it.
We went to Moxie for dinner on Friday night for the first time. It won't be the last. The service, drinks and food were superb. We started with a cocktail. I had the plum margarita (outstanding, with a sugar cinnamon rimmed glass, an idea I will definitely borrow) and my partner had the Pineapple Express - which she found too smoky, but maybe that's because she was experimenting with Mezcal for only the second time. We shared the (1) Spiced Pistachio and Date, Smoked Labneh, Pomegranate, Kumara Chips, (2) Kingfish Cooked Over Coals, Soy honey Glaze, Sambal Hollandaise, Pickled Ginger and (3) Pan Fried Market Fish, Tabouleh, Oven Dried Tomato, Swiss Chard, Lemon Emulsion. All three were beautifully presented and delicious, interesting flavours. We finished by sharing the Valrhona Chocolate Fondant, Rhubarb, Vanilla Ice Cream, Black Pepper Tuile for dessert. Also spectacular. Plus the service was super friendly, helpful and efficient. One of the best meals we've had out in a long time.
Amazing food, beautiful atmosphere and decor, and top tier service from the staff. My partner and I got the beef wellington, first time we have ever had it and everything was cooked perfectly! The starter of trevally was to die for, I could eat an entire course of just that fish, and the cocktails? Out of this world. Every flavour was balanced really well. We will absolutely be coming back to try more of what Moxie has to offer. My compliments to every single member of staff in the building. We will be back!
