This place is amazing and highly recommended. They have delicious burgers that are juicy and full of flavour. Also got the seasoned wedges with sour cream and my tastebuds were just dancing. Wanted to try the ice cream but was way too full. The ice creams did look delicious as well.
(Sorry no photo/s - I was hungry and just blown away by the size of the burger that I forgot to take a picture).

Cute little diner, we had ice cream and mud cake. Was basic tip-top ice cream and a piece of cake. Tasted good. No toilets. No rubbish bins were provided, which meant we had to leave rubbish on the counter.

I ordered a large milkshake to go and the milk was sour, must of been sat out of the fridge for the 5 week lockdown, asked for a refund and the lady was very rude. Overall a disappointing experience

Had the misfortune of walking into this restaurant just before COVID lockdown and only just recovered enough to write this review. The quality of food was disgraceful and the customer service from the lady who owns it was worse then that. Save yourself the time and for godsake choose a different venue to eat.

I'm a bit bias when it comes to this place as I have find memories of Ollie's from when I was a child.

Still love the ice cream.

The ice cream was amazing, great flavour, I enjoy the retro American diner design, the only downside was the attitude of the servers. They seemed low energy and judgemental lel. They could have pretended to be nice

One of the last traditional ice cream joints, serves hot food as well with a fun little arcade section in the back. If you are in the area have a look.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Burgers had good quality ingredients but were very burnt, chips were way oversalted. Ice cream was nice. Moral of the story, just get the ice cream at the ice cream parlor.

Pleasant and helpful service, as well as a wide range of dessert options. We thoroughly appreciated their ice creams.

Considering the prices, the ice cream tastes very cheap. However it looks and tastes like a 1970s diner. It's clean and the service is ok. Recommend it for a trip with the kids or even a date.

Terrible customer service. They had no customer inside and I ordered a burger for take away, waited for 30 min and none of those two employees made the order. My order was ignored, I don’t recommend.

Came here around 5: 30pm two girls working. Didn’t have the decency to welcome us into this place. We had to say hi. We ordered they were so blunt. Went and sat down. Waited for our food. It came out, they practically chucked it at us. Not a single word we said thank you, not even a smile. So so appalled by this customer service. I myself work in customer service and I would never ever treat customers like this. So unprofessional. Food was average. Apart from this I am still appalled!

Amazing place thats offeres a range of hot good and desserts. We got a Giant banana split and Chocolate fudge cake. This is a great place to go for dinner or as a weekend treat. Staff are really friendly and welcoming. Well done Ollies they were also very kind and patient as my daughter took her time picking ice cream flavours

Still as good as it was when I first visited it in 1973, always extremely clean, fantastic selection of bugers and icecreams, well done Colin Haines. Ollies is an iconic store not only in Royal Oak but Auckland and beyond. I would love to know how many uni students have worked there over the years, to all those people keep up the good work and keep Ollies going for another 47 years.

Honestly amazing, there is nothing to special about it BUT in saying that it has a specific charm to it, as it is such a kiwi place!

Me and my partner went here to get some ice cream, it had pretty much all tip top flavors and there were so many options for how to serve it, he just got 2 scoops while i choose any flavor and made is a milkshake (btw I choose a cookie dough one and OMG it was delicious!) you can also get sundaes, burgers and other things (very American, but also very kiwi haha!)

If it wasn't so far away i would go way more often!

Dodgy decor, minimal furniture.and great range of ice-cream. This place has been around longer than any two of the serving staff, and without significant change. Ollies is Ollies.same owner, same business. Almost counts as Kiwiana. I love it.

Wouldn't buy burgers there, you get a combo @ b/k for the same price as a burger, chips come separately$9.90 just for a bacon & egg burger & $5 for chips

I feel like this place could be awesome if the gaming machines were all up and running. The food is ok but overpriced and nothing special. A large selection of ice cream choices and limited edition flavors makes it a exciting place to go.
