It's a great place for a coffee catch-up. Their price is reasonable. Sometimes parking can be an issue here.

Two changes of ownership since this review. Coffee still great - jury out on the food.

I just noticed an old review of this establishment and realised I should edit it and give them a well desrved better review as they have lifted their service levels markedly and the quality of their food offering. Allpress coffee is up to the standard expected of the brand and the team are friendly and efficient.
Great to see that they have survived the pandemic and deserve our support.
They are dog friendly at outside tables too!

Yummy breakfast.
French toast with side of hashbrowns and hotcakes.

Fast service.

Five of us went for lunch to Orvieto today. We spent $130 for our lunch and I ordered the eggs benedict with bacon. Description on menu that came with a hashbrown. When my meal arrived hashbrown had turned into an english muffin and after discussion with cafe staff member was advised there was another description on other page of menu (eggs benedict is the first meal on the first page, why would there be another description (which is different seemingly) on the second page.
I was advised there was an additional cost to have the hashbrown and had to pay $1 extra for the hashbrown. After waiting 20 mins for my eggs benedict with hashbrown to arrive, the hashbrown was so crispy could not eat most of it. What was supposed to be a lovely lunch with friends turned into an unpleasant visit and unhappy with false description of eggs benedict, having to pay an extra $1 for the hashbrown to add to a very small portioned eggs benedict and customer service. Will not be back to Orvieto and will not be recommending.

Visited just after NY as one of the few cafes open. Coffee was terrible. Mince on toast was dry. Wife had a breakfast burrito which was bland (eggs overdone, dry to taste). We didn't finish coffees or either of the dishes. Would not recommend.

Finally Found The Bottom Eggs Bene and Service

31mins (Eggs Bene) for first order to 45mins (Pancakes) last order which they forgot. For a holiday surcharge this was criminal. Eggs Bene, French Toast and Pancakes were underwhelming at best. Look at the photos and you'll see the portions were kid's size but priced adults. Eggs Bene was not runny and again I would strongly encourage the reader of this post to go a further 500m up Mt Eden Road to Circus Circus and order their Eggs Bene - still my #1. I was reminded why we stopped coming here since 2019. Thought to give O a chance but you reaffirmed my decision so we'll leave it there and call it a day. To the owner: consider another industry that doesn't require timeliness and quality of delivery. Disappointing.

Coffee was excellent. Food was dreadful. I ordered the creamy mushrooms, which tasted like they'd had an entire salt cellar poured on them. It was just after NY, so maybe the B-team was on.

Waited half an hour for the saddest looking eggs benedict, the salmon was barely the size of my pinky finger and only 2 tiny spinach leaves. $24 for the worst presented eggs benedict I have ever seen, it is a joke. Nothing like the pictures posted from the earlier reviews - looks like things have gone downhill recently. Coffee was also burnt and sour. You can charge customers whatever you want but at least try to make it justifiable. Such a big disappointment.

Orvieto used to be a family favourite. Could have been that they shouldn’t have opened on a public holiday. Kitchen and staff were not ready to receive 60-70% capacity today. Most tables included ours who all ordered at similar times waited over an hour and a half for complete food servings - often only one plate would arrive with 20-30min wait in between the others (drinks were nearly 45mins to an hour and came at different time). When a table of 4 costs over $120 for 4 meals and and 4 drinks you hope for something better. Food was sub par and just all round disappointing experience.

This is just a note for regular customers, Orvieto is under new ownership and is currently understaffed which is why their opening hours are no longer the same so of you're expecting the same as usual, you will not get it.

Weren't open during the hours that they have advertised. Tried calling as well but no one picked up. Really disappointing, I won't be returning.

Website and door says open 7am Saturday and Sunday. At 7: 35am Saturday the doors opened and amazingly I could at least get a coffee. But no food. No muffin. If you advertise being open. Please actually be open.

We used to visit this place years ago and was the best place to get an eggs Benedict, how things have changed, the eggs Benedict was so average, muffins barely toasted, bacon ranging from over cooked to under cooked and our drinks came out after we’d finished our meal. The table was dirty (see picture). The coffee tasted more like instant coffee with a bit of foam on top, won’t be rushing back after spending $55, sent coffee back and the mentioned they were having issues with their grinder… as a cafe you think this would be a priority.customer service terrible fruit juice arrived in bottle with no glass.

The best cafe I ever been in NZ we had the creamy mushrooms n steak sandwich today is prefect, the chef is amazing! The sauce of the steak sandwich is really tasty, (actually last time I ate the creamy mushrooms not really good, but this time is back to normal) keep the chef today please! Another best things is even in the busy weekend meal also come out fast like in 10mins, Good service

Has been through about 3 owners and current owner has improved it although all the favourites are still there. Coffee is better than ever. Standouts for me are the house made hash browns, nothing like the frozen supermarket ones and in several breakfast dishes. Buttermilk Hotcakes are to die for and beautifully presented, come with honeycomb butter and mascarpone. A side of bacon compliments these. Has always been one of Auckland's top cafes and thankfully survived the past couple of years

Just ordered lunch to be delivered as a treat while in isolation. Did not disappoint! Hot coffee, delicious baps and Turkish breads, plus yummy date scone. Thank you Orvieto! Using your App was super easy and fast too ️

Great dog friendly cafe. Went there with a large group (8) and all the food and drinks were awesome. The coffee, smoothies, and cabinet food was delicious as well as the very generous meals.

Came here for an early lunch and ordered off the breakfast menu. We had the hashbrowns and sourdough with salmon. The hashbrowns meal was substantial and the salmon came as a small fillet, which was a nice change fron the usual slices you get at cafes. Great coffees. Very quick service. Overall, a lovely meal.

This place has been good for a long time. I haven't tried their food recently but the coffee is still tasty.
