If you care about the staff in this establishment do not come here. Search "Savor group wage subsidy" to see the disgusting behaviour of the owner during the most recent lockdowns. Used what they thought was a loophole in the wage subsidy to pay their struggling staff 3 hours wages a week while claiming the 20 hours part time subsidy. They got away with it. Made a fortune and their staff were left with nothing. The owner was filthy rich already. Who does this? How would you feel if someone did this to you, your friends, or your family?

Good spot, great food and service. Our waitress was excellent, attentive and very helpful with our food choices. We arrived rather early & was prepared to have a drink in the bar but it wasn't a problem & we were offered our table immediately with a view of the Harbour. Lovely evening & definitely going back.

Such an awesome spot. We came for a couple of drinks and some snacks. We had no booking but got a great table despite it being busy. Will be back for dinner at some point!

Not very happy night at Ostro. That’s is not my first time to have dinner at Ostro. Booked a table on Monday and also called on Tuesday to add a Beef Wellington. On Wednesday morning. I received a call from Ostro. The lady said they will get it ordered for me. I was very happy with the service before. But when I been to them tonight. I have been told they only serve set menu tonight. It is Christmas Eve. It will be supper hard to find another place. So we decide to stay. The food quality was not as good as they used to be. The duck breast taste actually same as the one you can find from the supermarket. I really don’t think I’ll go there in the future. It is very disappointed.

Classy, paid 3 hours a week in lockdown despite bosses claiming wage subsidies upwards of 20 hours' work

Had lunch there, I wouldn't say the food was magnificent, my scallop starter was very sub par. The rest of the food was OK. I wouldn't dine there again however.

Only tried a couple entrees, but had the best wagu beef burger of my entire life here. And that's based on a lot of burgers.

In addition to a wonderful evening catching up with friends, our host was thoughtful and welcoming. The service was attentive and the food delicious.

We booked for a High Tea for a friends Birthday. It was excellent. The food was divine and our nut allergy was accommodated with no hassles. Service was very good and our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful, especially with describing the many teas we had to choose from. Best High Tea we have had so far:)

We dined here recently for lunch. Although the entrances, both from Quay Street and the lane behind the Seafarers Building, are rather unprepossessing and confusing, the restaurant space itself is attractive with appealing ambience and view over the harbour from this upstairs space. We were greeted by very personable, friendly and immaculate wait staff and given good explanations of the menu. All dishes ordered were delicious and beautifully presented. We would comment only that portions were on the small side especially for men and mains did not come with any accompaniments, more just garnishes, so side dishes were a necessity. We expected that even just one vegetable accompaniment to the mains would have been included in these prices and would have added to the aesthetics and appeal of the dishes, which looked more like entrees.

Good new menu. The lobster/cauliflower soup was divine. The beef wellington was generous in serving size.

I was aware of a few poor reviews especially about the service. We however had great service with nothing to complain about.

The new menu has some fantastic and highly creative cuisine options that will leave you wanting more. Aka the Crayfish toasted sandwich, tasting oysters, chicken parfait are simply superb. Will go back again just to hit these dishes again, so good. Thank you.

Privileged to win an opportunity to dine here, meet the head chef Josh Emmet and enjoy his recommendations. See you for my birthday?

We had dinner there last night and the service was absolutely terrible. I felt really bad for our waiter as he was trying to keep up with everything and none of his team members helped him, some of them were standing round doing absolutely nothing. We had to constantly ask for our wine from multiple people who did nothing about it and one of the bar staff who delivered cocktails, replied with "sorry that's my colleagues job". Absolutely appalling, if this is driven by tips it is the wrong way to run your team. We went to rata recently and the service there was amazing. Its such a shame because the food is really good but not worth the price with service like that.

We dined out at Ostro Brasserie & Bar in Britomart precinct and was instantly impressed with the service and restaurant interior as soon as we entered. From a very industrial looking entrance to the building to ascending the floors to the restaurant, it was stunning to walk into the reception area separating the mood lit bar to the right and the expansive dining area opposite.

The maitre’d was a consummate professional with greeting and escorting us to our table. The wait staff were exceptional and the menu was exciting to peruse. I was impressed with the wine list the representation of NZ wines so we enjoyed an Otago Pinot Noir with Antipodes.

We started off with the seafood platter and this was amazing with banana prawns, kingfish crude, ceviche, oysters, tuna tataki and croquettes with a trio of sauces. This was the best seafood platter I’ve ever had as the flavour profiles were refreshing and exotic to enhance the seafood.

Following on, we ordered the snapper and lobster pie and this was moorish and flavoursome with chunks of lobster and fish in mornay sauce. We enjoyed the pie with Parmesan beignets and a cos hazelnut salad. The sides complemented beautifully.

For dessert we had the poached pear with chocolate mousse and a cheese platter. This was the perfect close to a wonderful dinner. Overall, our dining experience was memorable and the ambiance, service and cuisine was truly wonderful. Highly recommended with distinction!

Expensive - and then, when it is time to pay, they add a surcharge if you want to use a credit card. Who carries enough cash to pay for an expensive restaurant these days? Get real, Ostro. Won’t be back.

I booked a bachelorette dinner here and it went swimmingly! Service was mostly attentive and my meal was lip smackingly wonderful. The sourdough and seaweed butter was tasty. I had the Angus burger with charcoal bun. I can't quite remember what the bowl contained but think it was made with polenta and yes it tasted yummy. The view at night is awfully romantic!
