48Food and drink were awesome! The almond chicken was definitely my favourite. The crispiness and nutty taste were perfect.
First Korean restaurant for me and my partner and it’s our favorite! Arrived here by chance around 10: 30 p.m. When many restaurants are already closed in Auckland. Great welcome, great atmosphere, original menu, choice, and it's delicious! We recommend 100%
The almond fried chicken looks and sounds better than it tastes. It's not bad, just not as flavourful as I expected. Other options probably have more flavour. However, the staff are wonderful and they kept insisting on NZ info hababa
Also, it's overall kinda expensive. Not much cheap solo options. It's more for large groups that wanna share plates.
Overpriced and average taste. We ordered fried chicken, teokkbokki, and kimchi stew.
Kimchi stew was nice, however we added 2 packs noodles and it didnt come with noodles and I was charged the cost at the end, the fried chicken is watered down with fried potato to make it look like a larger portion, for the price the portion of actual chicken was so small. Teokkbokki was ok, service was good. Im giving 2/5 as I would recommend other Korean restaurants in the chancery/high-street area.
I heard it’s popular but honestly not worth the hype. I walked in with my booking and no staff was welcoming. I ordered the fish roe rice and got shocked by its portion when I got it. I’m not a big stomach eater, so I normally get full quite easily. But that dish, is so small… and the waiting time is fOrEvEr
Thank you Pocha, you guys were so kind and patient. Though there was a little bump in our order the food was worth the wait
Great times with friends. Great food. Great Soju. Great atmosphere. Can’t ask for more then that. Thanks guys.
I've been to alot of Korean places, but this place take the win My husband and I went their for our anniversary we ordered Sweet soy chicken it was juicy and the sauce was nice and sticky Light snacks are a great little tapa while waiting for main meals atmosphere is great too! Definitely will be backkk!
Pocha is known to be one of the most Iconic Korean restaurant in Auckland CBD and for good reason. Recommend this spot if you are coming with a large group of friends and are craving Korean food. I tried a bunch of dishes from here and everything was pretty solid.
Ordered items:
- Almond krunch fried chicken
- Corn krunch fried chicken
- Soy chilli fried chicken
- beef brisket soybean stew 8/10
- spicy rice cakes 8.5/10
- beef tartare
Beef brisket soybean stew:
Super flavourful broth, flavour profile is umami and like creamy. Loved the meats and vegetables that were in the broth. All worked really well together. It's just really comforting to eat.
Spicy rice cakes:
Loved everything about this dish. The dish had some ramen noodles, cabbage, carrots, fish cakes, stretchy cheese and nice chewy tteokbokki. But the star of the dish was the sauce. The sauce itself was not really spicy. However, it was creamy, sweet and savoury. Honestly, the sauce was drinkably good.
The spicy almond fried chicken was great. So were the other 2 fried dishes I tried. Don't come here looking for healthy choices! The only thing missing was the beer!?
The fried food is screaming out for it as a compliment.
Their water pitchers even advertise Korean Hite beer, which isn't even on the menu.
Suggest to install a keg/tap and serve beer jugs and towers, and have some imported korean beer too.
This is a really bad restaurant. Its owner play League of Legend and go afk many times. Totally ruin the game. No wonder his restaurant is also really bad and not responsible.
This time around I ordered online and collected- seamless process under alert level 3.2. Always a dependable option for K (orean) FC. Would recommend the chilli chicken as well as the tteobokki
I love ordering Tteokbokki from this restaurant! Delicious food all round! The staff are so nice and I like to at least brush up on my Korean for practice. Lll
Nice open dining experience. Great place to catch up with friends. Food is nice and tasty here with tons cheese. Eat fast or otherwise later due to dish getting cold you will soon lose your appetite just FYI
Very nice food, good price, nice staff and located in a good area.
Not a problem but the restaurant could be a little bit bigger for more space.
Will definitely go again
We came here for Restaurant Month to try it out and although the food was ok, the service was quite dismissive and tables a bit grubby. We thought what we paid for the deal seemed reasonably priced for what we got - came out quickly, tasted alright and good/average portions but we were shocked to find out what the regular pricing was. It’s a bit overpriced for what you get based off what we received - food and service wise. We would have been disappointed had it not been on a deal.
We pretty much tried all the flavours of soju on this visit! The only ones we couldn't try were the ones that were sold out. Really good Korean fried chicken and service. I'll certainly be going back here to try the rest of the extensive menu.
Racist. It was my birthday when we went there with a mixed bunch of friends. We have a nice table good for 5. Then this lady came to us and asked if we could move to another table (which was a bit smaller and said she will just add an extra chair since the table is for 4 only). She mentioned they will have a big bunch of folks and they have reserved the table we were on already so I said ok that’s fine. When the other people arrived (Koreans) they were just 2 people! They occupied the 6 seater table while we were at the smaller ones. Never again.
Amazing Spicy Chicken with Almond, I loved it. Very friendly stuff. What a great experience. Thank you so much
Sweet/spicy fried chicken was super yum.
Butter corn was super yum.
Mixed snacks were yum.
Almond crunch fried chicken was yum.
Staff were friendly and helpful.
Will be back as we are keen to try other things on the menu that looked super yum.
