Post Office Public House

Probably the only decent place in a kind of weird industrial area, so I was lucky to find it! They have a 15$ lunch special on weekdays which was super tasty and definitely enough food. I came back for dinner and tried out their mojito which was served in a teapot, super original and very good!

We had to stay over at the airport hotel and the post office public house was the only thing open nearby. We looked at the reviews and thought that it seemed worth it. The reviews seem to be a little bit dated like the kiwi bird curve is no longer on the menu. But they do have a beef burger which I had which I felt was really good and not dry like some other people have posted. My wife had the lamb pizza and it was a little bit bland and needed some spices but it wasn't bad. The $25 for pizza and a kid on Thursday was a pretty good deal though. I ordered an IPA along with my burger and the beer was a full pint and good.

We sat all the patio which was nice but the music was a bit loud. Fortunately the music was good, mostly upbeat pop music. Inside there's an old pool table which a bunch of kind of loud guys were at so we definitely didn't want to sit inside.

One kind of interesting feature that I've never seen before is they put a little birthing on your table. If you want service or the bill or anything like that, it's somehow alerts your server that you need something.

Overall not bad for restaurant in an industrial area servicing. Mainly working lunch people and hotel dinner guests.

I've used the Post Office Public House for two years in a row now to have a gathering of 20 - 30 people, and the Jannet and the team have been more than accommodating. Communication leading up to the event was fantastic even to the point Jannet personally created a sign for our gluten free and vegetarian attendees. Thanks to all the staff at POPH. Really appreciate the service.

Post Office is now a firm favorite for 'After work drinks', team building functions & everything in between! Really recommend the Mojitos which are the best I've had in a long time. Monday night is my fav day of the week as they have the steak meal for $25 & I always swap out the roast potatoes for the thick cut fries (ask for extra mushroom sauce as it's that yummy). Highly recommend coming here for the food, atmosphere & service.

We had my dads 65th birthday celebration here on 16/09/23. The bar manager Jannet went above&beyond to help make this day special. Her team were so kind & helpful. We had a buffet menu, the chefs food was amazing my family loved it all. I highly recommend anyone looking to hold a function, this would be the place to have it. Thanks Jannet and The Post Office team!

Had an awesome experience here, if ur looking for a place to have a function this place will be it, esp with big family’s. The garden area is perfect for children while the adults are inside, the staff are so helpful and willing to make sure you have a great time with all demands answered too. This is a great place to go for a lovely meal. We were waiting for friends to arrive at the airport and this is a great location to do this, as we sat in comfort, with food and drink, relaxing until our friends were able to let us know when they were ready to get picked up. We were only 5 minutes away and then brought them back for dinner. The staff at the Post Office Public House were so friendly and helpful. We were able to order our meals before we went to the airport and they were ready shortly after we returned. Thanks to Janet - who really does have a lovely smile and all the staff for a very enjoyable evening.

Lovely family friendly restaurant. The food was great and the staff were really attentive and friendly.

Nice big place but revoltingly hot and airless. They should invest in some large fans and roller blinds for top seating area. The heat made the experience unpleasant.

Emmanuel and the staff looked after us from the time we called to book to the time we left. Friendly, good food and no delays.

We booked for our end of year break up. The team was very accomidating of us. 22 roudy buggers at 11am. Food was good. And service from the team was excellent.

Have attended private functions here within the year and both times have found the staff very friendly. Food is good.
Venue is tidy.
Overall, good experience.

The food at the Post Office Public House is amazing. I had the Butchers selection steak. The meat is great and the mushroom sauce is to die for, my partner had the Eye Fillet, which was also wonderful! There is a decent beer selection and the house wine is good too! Recommended

Service was a bit slow. Awesome team tho, may have been a bit pre occupied while I was waiting.

I had the vegetarian Fettucine. The brocolli was done to perfection. The meal had a great creamy sauce. It was exceptionally well done. Service was prompt and it was a nice place to dine. Without a doubt I would return.

He mihi nui ki a koutou.cheers POPH. Just totally loved the kai, atmosphere, staff. Did I say Kai.so delicious and plenty on the plate. It's a hidden gem. Most of us from out town. The Aucklanders did not know about it and will be taking their whanau for a meal. Stunning

Place looks decent on the outside, and the reviews seemed real. Went out for a staff lunch and the warning signs to leave were everywhere, remaining plates with food left behind, which the staff was prompt enough to keep clearing, weird smell when you walk in. But no, unfortunately we stayed.

I'm not sure how its even possible in 2022 to undercook fries ESPECIALLY if your serving portion is about 8 fries or i guess 13 fries on your plate if lucky. If its beyond the chefs capability, the least you can do for your customers is invest in an Air fryer.

We basically didn't have much options to choose from around the menu because the chicken was all out of stock, that's fine so 3 of my work colleagues ordered beef enchiladas, we might as well should have ordered plain dough, as that's what it tasted like.

The other colleague is glutton intolerant and that was mentioned twice, and guess what in her salmon salad, there were croutons, which she specifically asked to be taken out before ordering.

If its your cup of tea to pay $20 to basically taste tzatziki sauce, id recommend ordering the lamb pizza.

When the male waiter came to clear our plates, no feedback was asked around how the meals were, so i offered one and the only acknowledgment was "We aRE cHanGING tHE Menu" i don't think the menu is the issue, i dare suggest maybe maybe change the CHEF. No acknowledgment, no discount, no apologies, just a nonchalant attitude from staff,

Best thing on the menu is the coke.

Not bad a bit hot in the outdoor garden area, could possibly do with raising the ceiling or planting some deciduous trees so you get light in winter and shade in summer!
