11PBC have been great - very professional and allow us to build volume projects quickly and easily.
Very professional and easy to deal with. Much more flexible than council and understand commercial realities of building. I use them for all my projects and thoroughly recommend them.
Avoid at all costs. You will be better off going with normal council inspections as PBC will delay your project resulting in huge costs. Almost impossible to get an inspection date in as they are severely short staffed. Their staff is also not well trained and will insist on installing extra unnecessary attachments that are not required by council. (They will fail you and delay you further).
You are much better off going with council who are the authority.
Avoid to save you time, money and headache!
We had an appalling experience with PBC. Over a 2 year period they were continually and totally incompetent in administering the Building Code and Building Act, which unfortunately cost us over two hundred thousand in unnecessary costs. Nick from PBC did not have good knowledge of Building Code or the Act, was arrogant and bombastic who would never listen, even after he was proved wrong. We have no issue with people not knowing everything, it’s a team effort, but this guy was terrible and rude to go with it. Hope and presume other senior chaps at PBC are better than this. We will be making a formal complaint to Auckland Council and to MBIE shortly.
Ps. We have been completed over 3000 Building projects using Auckland Council over 20 years and never struck this sort of issue or person.
Assuming Auckland Council is not efficient just as all other government authorities. So, any one using PBC over Auckland Council must because PBC is more efficient, more professional, less costly, less hassles, less time consuming. What's the point of using PBC if those aren't true?
Totally disappointed to the Admin team for the first time I tried this guy - call 2-3 times to check for lodgment status of the application - they are all busy, I left the message and never call back- my application been delay for lodgment about 1 week (if I lodge with Council then only 2-3 days sorted)
Really enjoy working with PBC. They are easy to deal with, practical and quick to respond. PBC are our preferred avenue for getting Building Consents processed and inspections done.
The worst Consultants, they don't know what they are talking about when it comes to new homes, ask questions when the info is already in the plan then try an say that it doesn't meet NZ frame standards when engineer has specified it! Would not recommend these guys at all!

Their processing Building Consent for Council, always ask stupid, brainless, unnecessarily Q in their RFI. They know how to making money by asking all this question. As you know council charge by hourly. The more time they spend the more client have to paid. PBC employee with their own company 5 star review.
This company are not worthy of using. They cancelled a set of plans on a proposed build design without consultation with me while I was working with council on resource consent we were waiting for. Then PBC billed me over $2000, for cancelling plans in process costing me $25,000 additional in drafting and engineering and never discussed it with me. Council agreed to drop fees due to poor performance on pbc part then 18months later they put baycorp onto me to collect fees for their incompetence. Do not use these people they create dramas to generate billing. Nasty people. Check around I'm not the only unhappy client.
