While our meals were OK, the staff seemed more interested in talking to each other than checking on us. However, we did enjoy the Air-Conditioning and the gentle background music.

Used to be a very nice cafe. Unfortunately it's not the same anymore. Big breakfast was average, coffee was ok. And cafe was quite dusty

Ok service.but terrible food. Do NOT be fooled and think just because this is Remuera that it’s decent. I ordered the fish and chips and the chef literally served me box deep fried fish that was bought at a pak n save and sold it for 30 dollars. My partner ordered the waffles which was so hard.it was as if it was bought and frozen then warmed up. Don’t do it, overpriced.

Dinner service was horrible. The waitresses wouldn’t come to our table and take our order. Half of the dinner menu was gone. So, we had to constantly go to the counter and go back to our table to discuss. Given, there were a number of us on the table. It was pretty inconvenient. To top that, food only started coming out after 30 mins.from ordering. We came there at 5: 20 pm but only started eating at 6: 20 pm due to all these factors of poor service.

The food was okay but not worth the price. Asked for a medium-rare, ended up getting a well-done steak.

The price is on the high side if you don’t use any voucher, it’s not worth it. The steak is average but the beef cheek is very soft. It’s worth a try but the price is also high. The amount of salad is very large, and overall it is quite satisfactory, but we waited for about 30 minutes for the meal, and the service staff was friendly.

Went there on Friday 5 May.ordered the steak.was not asked how I wanted it, took a long time - had to check what happened to the order.steak came out cooked through.figured i couldn't wait for them to replace it.ate, paid & left.i think the boss was there that day, he seemed not happy with how the staff was performing, but he talked in his own language to a person/staff of similar ethnicity - not really a good look if that was true.

We had a private business function using the Laneway bar yesterday and the venue was ideal as was the food. Thank you for a great experience.

The food was very bad. The service was poor. The only other person dining while we were there also had the same issue. Must be a change in management. I rarely post reviews but I wouldn't even bother going here for food if you're thinking about it. Plenty of nicer resteraunts near by.

Edit: this is a legitimate review. Buyer beware. Management that blames the customer for their own bad food and service rather than being mature and taking responsibility is a red flag.

Top notch! Do not be fooled by the name including the word “cafe”, as this is a lovely place to dine for dinner. The food is actually quite incredible and delicious and professionally cooked and presented. Many dishes to choose from too. Customer service was polite and welcoming. I will be coming here again to dine.

Terrible! Booked a time on Bookme (which I have to pay for) and when I arrived they are not even opened! (To reply to your message: firstly I booked Wednesday 6pm for 2 people, and I called and no one pick up the phone. And secondly I couldn’t care less about the 2dollar. It’s the time I wasted and have to drive all the way back.) And according to one of your previous reviews it seems like you can always find excuses for bad review aye.

I decided to use the coupon I bought in Grabone each coupon is good for 2. Since we're 4 in the family, I purchased 2. The Remuera Local, didn't allow us to sit all together in one table. Instead they let us sit separately in 2 tables. There are lots of bigger tables available, but they didn't consider my request. We end up eating separately as a family. Not family friendly. Quite disappointing.

Staff were friendly and the portions were good. Food was really tasty and the kids liked it too. Just perhaps lacking on the small details.we ordered the full breakfast and it would have been nice if the toast came with butter and maybe some t-sauce for the sausages and hash brown. But other than that; I would definitely go back

Great service and food was great. We had our Christmas gathering with our workmates. Whole team was helpful and friendly. Highly recommend to all to enjoy their service and food.

Waste of our Labour Day morning as the place was closed when we arrived at the intended Bookme voucher time.

Furthermore, it was a huge inconvenience considering we have an 18 month old and travelled 30mins to get to the cafe. We even had planned to meet our extended family there.

When I emailed Bookme they sent us a return email refunding the cost of the discount voucher. They also said that it was the cafe’s responsibility to keep availability up to day. So far no apology for the confusion and/or effort to make things right.

I think it’s changed hands. Service was woeful. Had to order by app - no wait staff, apparently because it’s hard to get staff yet when we were there we were the only table and 2 staff were about a metre away behind the bar doing nothing, clearly seeing that we were struggling with the app! In the end the app didn’t work! 2 meals of 4 served then 20 minutes later, after chasing them up, the other 2 meals arrived. Really really poor!
