Sake Bar Nippon

Improvement on our last visit and enjoyed our meals.

The whole "shoes off" policy is unhygienic and really annoying.
It also appears Sake Bar and staff are more concerned about the wearing of shoes on or around their grubby seats and "dramatic drums" on entry than correct seating, customer service, food consistency, basic spelling on menus and bad music.
My chicken katsu was soggy, and my friends steak was 15 mins late whilst everyone else is half way through their meals.
Several dishes weren't delivered which we had ordered so best be vigilant when it comes to paying, which was a complex drama in itself.

Absolutely the best Japanese food that I have tried outside of Japan, great atmosphere and very busy, the service was excellent and the food arrived quickly

First time here, had a blast enjoyed the food. Food arrived fast but reordering more dishes took a long time. Got packed quite quickly. Would eat here again. Different ordering method writing ur order down by numbers. Different but good.

The food was fab. Loved the atmosphere so much. There's also karaoke available if you're keen. Steve was a nice gentle guy who was serving us. Quite happy with their service. Also it's great if you're going there in a group of friens or family

Sake Bar Nippon opened in 1999. We have known each other since before it opened, and we have known each other for about 25 years. It was still very lively and had a great atmosphere. The staff are all very friendly and cosy. All of the dishes are reasonably priced, of high quality, and offer great value for money. This is a highly recommended shop.
The drum performance since the opening has been very good. Even though they are busy, the chefs cheerfully beat the drums to liven up the atmosphere. This is a restaurant that not only serves delicious food but also makes you feel happy. You really ought to go and see!

Last minute booking online was super easy and always has great attentive and polite service. Atmosphere is awesome with the special drums in and out! Domo arigato gozaimasu!

I ate oysters today. The oysters were stale and not cleaned.very disappointed. The next time you go to eat and find that it is not fresh, tell the waiter immediately. I ate too quickly and spit it out last, and it was too late to tell the service staff. So be careful when you eat.

Went for our first time last night and absolutely loved it. We’re gearing up to go to Japan/Korea Christmas/New years so thought it would be fun to come here and practice our Japanese (it never happened but it’s the thought that counts right) The food was soooo fresh and was brought to our table in record timeWe had pretty much 1 of everything on the menu and couldn’t fault it, the decor was awesome and the customer service was soo efficient and friendly. Any questions we had were answered and we also got some tips for when we do go to Japan and even had the owner join us for conversation and sake pouring pointers. Loved every minute of our visit.

Love this restaurant. Food comes out fast hot and delicious. Slightly on the expensive side.

Hands down the best / most authentic Japanese I’ve ever experienced. Family owners mixed Maori & Japanese bringing the highest quality to your pallets. Always taking their time to say hello to regulars and even first timers. Incredibly busy at times - evidence the food is in high demand. Never had a bad encounter here after all the years I’ve been going. This place is an incredible contribution to the community. Thanks for the memories

Absolutely the best experience dining in here! Always looked after and always great tasting Japanese food. The sashimi is fresh and has the best cuts from a good selection of fish. The grilled food you know has been grilled with enthusiasm and genuine japanese service. I'd be back here more often if I lived locally. Don't sleep on this one guys!

Food was so delicious. Portions were a bit small compared to the price. Sashimi was okay, a little expensive for a small dish with 9 pieces. Staff were friendly and helpful. She kept smiling on her face even though she was busy and tired.
Female toilet is downstairs and clean. I recommend to try their squid.

Waitress ruined it - weird welcome like we were intruding, walked out (next door?) to check reservations without communicating, came back at sat us at the worst table in an empty restaurant, then never asked us for drinks or food - so we left

Stumbled upon this place on a rainy night with almost no one on the streets. Walked inside and it was PACKED! Amazing vibe, energy, people chatting, happy staff. It truly made my day! We sat at the bar and it was perfect for a date night. The food was great, the Sapporo was ice cold, I could’ve ordered all night.

Don’t expect drinks after the first ones are delivered, or water. They offer gluten free options but after asking THREE times for gluten free soya sauce no one ever came back to tell me if they did have any so I ate my sashimi without which wasn’t pleasant. OH & It gets better the staff member who we complained to about the soya sauce didn’t put our 2nd order through so we waited over 40 minutes and gave up, leaving hungry. They wouldn’t offer us any discount and so we paid and walked out in disgust.

Immerse yourself in Japanese sake bar. The vibe is buzzing, and smell tantalising.
You won't regret ordering pretty much anything here.

Terrible experience here. Ordered the ginger pork, no indication on the menu that it came with mayonnaise, when asked if they could replace it was told "No" because they didn't have prior warning. Perhaps they could warn people that there is mayonnaise on the dish?
Asked for a second one to be made, 20+min and it hasn't arrived, then told that there was an error in the kitchen and they didn't get the order.
Won't be coming back here at all.

First time with my family who rate this place and it was superb. Great food, great atmosphere and quick attentive service given the place was packed. Loved the steak dish, egg rolls and salmon sashimi washed down with hot sake. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu and try and get a seat downnear the kitchen. Thank you

Unbelievable, we went with a couple friends for his birthday and the bill ended up being more than $500, and they even had a cake fee? We ended up having to pay an extra $30 just to eat the cake. The food was good but insanely overpriced. Not worth it.
