Just had a fantastic experience with Ray. I had been suffering knee pain while running and he was super helpful in explaining why this pain might be happening and getting me fitted into new shoes. Would highly recommend thanks!

Edit: just went for my first run with the shoes - no pain whatsoever and felt as if I was flying. Thanks Ray - great service

Awesome service from Ray. I ordered some shoes in a certain size and I received a prompt text from Ray to pick them up. Excellent customer service, highly recommend this store.

Shop shut early due to an emergency but the manager went out of his way to contact me, apologise and then sort things out.

UPDATED: After my initial review, I was contacted very promptly by the manager and we reached a resolution. I am most grateful and have a patched pair of shoes to tide me over. Many thanks.

For $260, I think it's fair to expect shoes to last longer than eight months. I contacted Asics to give them feedback and they suggested I go back to the store. Perhaps I didn't outline my complaint well in person, not being used to doing it, but I'm bloody disappointed with the outcome.

When I purchased, I was very clear about my expected mileage/use, and that I am a walker. I felt, at the time, like I was being sold a "last-of-the-line" pair of shoes that were completely – and now very obviously – not FIT FOR PURPOSE. I don't think "oh yes, holes there are very common in walker's shoes" makes the holes somehow okay.

My issue, now that I've clarified it, is, if holes are typical in walker's shoes, what are these guys doing selling running shoes to walkers? Obviously they're not as durable in the particular spots that have holed so uncomfortably, the shoes are barely wearable. It's not rocket science – not a whole lot of shoe science either. Highly unimpressed and will never shop here again. Honestly, had better footwear from buying online. Sell your customers what they bloody ask for, Shoe Science.

When I visited this store last week, I knew it would be a quick visit as I wanted the same brand as the previous year. No one else was in the shop & the sole male staff member (? His name) was on his mobile. He saw me enter but made no eye contact nor acknowledgement of my presence. I checked out the wall displays & then waited a few minutes for him to end his call. However he made no effort to do so.
I decided to leave the shop so made my way to the door whereupon he called out to me, still not ending his call, stating he was the only staff member & asked me to not leave. I kept walking then he followed me out onto the footpath yelling at me “ well, thanks for all your understanding”. I didn’t hear the rest of what he was yelling out to me.
I couldn’t believe that he continued to yell at me and in such an angry abusive tone.

The next day I went & purchased the shoes I wanted from the helpful & friendly staff at the Newmarket branch. A sale of $269 lost by the Takapuna branch.
This type of sales and interaction is a definite ‘no go’ & unacceptable in my point of view. It was very disappointing.
I definitely will not be returning to this branch & will definitely be sharing this negative experience with friends.

Popped in here to replace my walking trainers - they're going through a bit of a refurbishment at the moment but don't let that put you off. Mike was very knowledgeable and patient (I have ankle problems so had a lot of questions!). Thanks, Mike!

My recent experience with Shoe Science Takapuna highlights why I have been a dedicated customer to this particular store for the past several years. My last purchased trainers had an unexpected very short lifespan. The owner specially went out of his way and went to extra effort to having them be replaced by that particular brand. Having had a very serious stroke in my early teens, it is very important that I keep as active as my body allows, with my shoes playing a big part with strong ankle support, light weight, good grip and alignment of my body. Great service, knowledge, attention to detail and friendliness all round. Thanks Mike and team for all your help recently and throughout the years!

Just started getting into running. The service, advice and product provided were all fantastic. It's great knowing the shoes you have are suited specifically to your feet and running pattern, something I definitely wouldn't have been able to do on my own.

Pleased to have once again returned to Shoe Science, Anzac Street, and receive the same attention to detail and expertise in the fitting of my shoes. I always feel confident that I have the perfect fit, it's money well spent.
