Lance really listened to our brief and provided great advice. The contract process was seamless and stress-free with clear instructions from Nicky and very little effort required from us. Amazing experience, the whole process was a breeze, from initial meeting with Lane giving him a rough sketchup model of what we wanted, explained the whole process then great communication all the way through to the finished product. The original house was a build off site and transport, the company who did this left a few curveballs that we were unaware of, the smith and sons team sorted it all out and nothing seemed like too much trouble, it caused a bit of a delay in the start, yet we still completed 4 weeks ahead of schedule and under budget, thanks to Lances awesome project management. All the subcontractors went above and beyond as well, working together to get it all pulled together. Definitely recommend using these guys if you’re looking for honest quality work! Very very happy with the new pergola they installed at my parent's place (above existing deck).
Very quick to reply to my initial online query on their website.
Also quick responses via email by the team.
My parents are old school, don't do technology at all and english is their second language so I was their messanger.
Project Manager Lance and the boys attended site, met the folks and were friendly, thoughtful, professional and patient.
Lance kept me informed of when they'll be back onsite, progress of materials being ordered in etc
My old man loved them so much he'll be going back to Smith & Sons for bathroom renovations.
Again, highly recommend, you won't be disappointed.

In June 2019, Smith&Sons started work on demolishing quite a bit of our home to create a more contemporary living environment that would suit our family for many years. Prior to the construction phase, Lane took us through the well thought out process of design and consenting. I enjoyed working with Lane, he listened to what we where wanting, gave great advice and was very professional. I was introduced to a great internal team of Lance, Melissa and Nicola, again all very professional and really looked toward a great outcome for us and our family. The lead builder Shaun was incredible, his workmanship was without fault and the team of trades that worked with him was fabulous. In October 2019 we moved back into our renovated home where most of the house had had some kind of upgrade or renovation. The new kitchen and new scullery have been a great success - we have thoroughly enjoyed being able to entertain again in this upgraded hub of our home. During the NZ lockdown in March/April 2020 the kitchen/scullery worked particularly well with all 6 of us sharing in the creation of meals. New tile flooring was installed (except the bedrooms) and the design is such that the house actually seems larger. Painting was a tough call - in the end (and on the advise of Lance) we decided to pretty much paint all the walls again - the house looks fresher. The bathrooms and ensuite where demolished and wet areas created that are modern, light and easy to clean - the double hand basins and cabinets are a must! This renovation was a dream, Smith&Sons took on all the heavy lifting and were a pleasure to work with. We also renovated a very tired garage by re-cladding the exterior and interior. It proved to be a good decision during lockdown as this was "converted" into at home office space for our daughters and a home gym. My husband is especially pleased to finally have a comfortable, dry and warm workshop area and his friends are impressed. When next contemplating renovations we would always go the Lane and the team at Smith&Sons in Franklin - they have been extraordinary.

We had a fixed price renovation done in December 2019 by Smith and Sons. We could not have been happier. We were impressed with their conduct before, during and after the renovation. We were always kept in the loop, advised of any problems, updated on progress and always felt like they cared about our outcome over anything else. We would recommend them to anyone looking to renovate in the future.
