Inept installation, woeful customer service, avoid this company like the plague, there are plenty of other Solar organisations in Auckland/NZ.

It is so disappointing to come across yet another small kiwi company that fails to get the basics right.
Having ignored my emails, not once called me to discuss the matter and then threatened me with debt collectors they have now taken to the internet to try and publicly contradict and shame me.
Had they called me, I would have told them yet again how the quantity of hot water had reduced over the previous months (as the amount of sunshine decreased) and after finally getting a response from them, THEY advised changing the settings to resolve the issue. I would have gone on to tell them how my autistic son smashed a hole in the bathroom wall because we kept running out of hot water, while also trying to navigate through the challenges of a global pandemic, lockdowns and homeschooling three teenagers. But I doubt telling them any of this would matter as they'd prefer to blame me for the problem and then charge me for it.

Roland, I suggest you make this a learning moment, accept responsibility for the actions of your organisation and take the opportunity to send you and your staff on a basic Customer Service course. There are plenty on the internet but I'd be happy to point you in the right direction.
Also, now might be a good time to reacquaint yourself with some of the basic rules of business, notably the first rule, that "The Customer is always right".

Once you have done these things and implemented the changes, I am confident that your public rating will increase from its current lowly score. The journey begins with you.

Who would expect under such sunshine, your solar power system doesn’t working, and I has been told that it will only back to work when the power outages haven been resolved. Please, if it doesn’t going to work during power outage, then why would I even bother to have it?
Also can you please tell me since your bolts directly penetrate through the roof is there any risk of leaking, it doesn't look like you have done any waterproof work with those bolts.

We have a challenging site to work on. Few companies are walked away from the installation because of that. But NOT the Solar Group! The whole process from start to finish was a breeze for us! Boys on the roof are super professional with an excellent workmanship!
Support office staff an absolute pleasure to deal with! Nothing to big or hard for them! They are always happy to help!

Got the Alpha ESS Smile 5. Had inverter issues during the Auckland storm & China hols as well. This slowed comms as to the issue. Waited long time for resolution. Eventaully they replaced the inverter with no fuss once they ascertained what the fault was. I must add that their tech/ intermediary Hira is good and efficent to deal with and responded quickly and informatively. Systems will inevitably have issues, but the speed and manner of resolution is important.

We continue to be impressed with the performance of the solar power system Solar Group installed for us and it’s especially proving its value now we have an EV to charge on a regular basis. Their ongoing customer service has also been greatly appreciated.

I suggest Solar Group better include a bowl in their quote, quite necessary for a rainy day.

We had our system installed mid last year, had experienced delays (due to Covid) and an issue with the battery, but these guys are awesome, they made sure that the problems are resolved. Everyone we come across in the company is professional and friendly. Having solar power is good for environment, also avoid the inconvenience when there is power cut. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for their products, service and after sales support.

We are delighted with the solar panels that heat our swimming pool. Heliocol is an amazing product and Solar Group provided outstanding service and support.

Solar Group was absolutely on the ball. Prompt, accurate, and excellent after service.

A professional group of installers led by Thomas. They were knowledgeable, friendly and tidied up at the end of each day.

Dealing with Solar Group was such a breeze. It has been more than two years now after they installed our solar panels and our savings exceeding my expectations. I would highly recommend them to everyone.

This time around (previously things didn't go so well) I was plesently surprised at the extra length solar group went to sort out my WiFi hook up, essentially pro-bono. Thanks.

Without doubt the worst contractors that I have dealt with. Did not complete the installation as per the quote, but still charged for it! Charged for extra work that was in the quote. Complete disregard for health and safety.
It took six months of discussions, before out of frustration it went before the disputes tribunal.
I still don't have a solar system that works properly, because the installation was not done as per the quote.

I never said that the system was working well, it cannot and never will, as it hasn't been installed correctly!
The disputes mediator found Solargroup to be in breach of two of its own terms and conditions, in that they overcharged on the quote by approximately $900 and that they did not complete the job as per the quote (and yet charged for it!).
Your excuse that you didn't want to replace the pipes as per the quote (and invoice) was that you wanted to save the planet! Seriously?
I only agreed to pay the original invoice, not your overcharged one due to the mediator threatening to incorrectly apply interest to the whole amount!
I stand by my comments.

These guys are awesome. So far so good - Everything works as promised. Will update again if something goes wrong:)

I'm sorry to say that dealing with The Solar Group has entailed a series of very unfortunate and expensive experiences, namely:

1) The system was under designed for our actual water heating requirements. The key area of concern was that the solar collectors that actually arrived were too small and the products supplied of low quality and performance efficiency issues.

2) We didn't receive all the elements we were actually sold.

3) We experienced failure after failure of the systems purchased. Corrosion of one of the pressure relief valves led to flooding of our laundry. We had to pay for the replacement part and installation as this was 13 months old.

4) A few months later the water tank needed replacing, this was within its warranty period and begrudgingly replaced. However, we did receive an invoice for the tank later.

5) We enlisted the services of another solar company to assess the systems installed. They added data monitors and found that the units installed were inefficient and not performing anywhere near their claimed savings the salesman sold us. In fact the payback analysis worked out to be over 50 years. We upgraded a number of components at our cost.

6) Solar hot water in general is not worth the investment. I would advise customers to do their research carefully, don't get sucked in to sales hype and empty promises. We wont ever invest in solar hot water systems for any of our future builds, and certainly have nothing to do with this very unprofessional company who love taking your money.

Personally I recommend that all existing customers of The Solar Group get their systems professionally monitored to see how well they are actually performing. I think they'll be surprised at what they purchased.
