69I recently contacted Star to arrange insurance for my classic car but simply received a generic email that they don't want to insure. I have arranged insurance with a traditional insurer, without issue (ironically who Star claim to better than). Very pleased to not be paying money to this company and recommend others to do the same.
Drove from hamilton to Auckland to look at a bike that's listed on trademe by star insurance. One of their staff member was absolutely rude and disgusting behavior. Asked what's if wof sticker will be provided told me look at trademe then I asked for rego status told me aggressively to leave claimed that I being difficult. If you can't answer basic questions about the vehicle that you posted on public platform don't waste people's time.
What a top insurance company you are. Great to deal with. The cost to insure my motorcycle was way less than I thought it would be. Thanks Star Insure. You're Awesome
We've been Star customers for more than 2 years and have generally found them to be OK. Times have changed though, and on 19 Oct 2022, we left our fully functioning, watertight, electrically sound, and fully road-warranted 2014 Leisureline caravan that we had been successfully traveling in for 2 years with Star Insurance’s recommended repairer RV Service Centre in Mt Maunganui in order to repair two small cracks in the caravan’s outer body and replace the range/oven, both damaged during a roadworks bump that occurred in late 2022 and Star agreed to fix.
After more than 7 months in repair, on 4 May 2023, RV Service Centre and Star Insurance (a division of Berkshire Hathaway USA, Suncorp Australia, and ANZ Bank Australia) have forced us to accept a non-functioning (with substantial water ingress, failed lithium ion battery, and an unwarrant-able) caravan back. On 10 July 2023, Star says they are “deadlocked” with us, which is curious since our caravan is now severely damaged, so case is now closed. Wow, I would’ve thought a person had more rights. Guess not. Perhaps this can be a cautionary tale to consider our story before paying for Star Insurance and any works by RV Service Centre in Mt Maunganui.
For more than 2 years, we’ve had our caravan on the road and not once have had a water leak or electrical fault. So, guys as you can probably guess our caravanning days are over for now due to circumstances and insurer politics that may require legal action to resolve.
This whole thing just does not seem fair to us. What do you all think?
Very disappointed left our long term insurance company so we could have support with caravan should we need it. Didn't happen when we needed it. The excuse was no jockey wheel specialist
I have been using this car insurer for the past few years and overall, my experience has been average. The premiums for my policy have always been competitive and I have never had any issues with billing or payment. However, when I have needed to file a claim, the process has been somewhat slow and frustrating. It has taken longer than expected to resolve my claims and I have had to follow up multiple times to get updates on the progress. Additionally, the customer service representatives have not always been the most helpful or knowledgeable when answering my questions. While I am satisfied with the coverage I receive, I would recommend shopping around and considering other options before committing to this insurer.
Great customer service and very quick reply to our queries. So far we have been happy with our insurance for our motorhome
I had to insure a camper van with them as my regular insurance company didn't do modified vehicles. The premium was $40.00 per month or $400.00 pa.to save nearly 40% interest I paid the years premium. When I sold the van a few months later there was a $50.00 cancellation fee. Which of course was never mentioned. Pack of scoundrels would not reccomend
Rude customer service & management. Was not impressed at all. A very stressful and time consuming experience. Would not recommend at anyone.

No response after a simple question via email. How can I trust them when it comes to claiming then.
Worst and rude customer service ever, don’t even bother to talk to customer properly. As if they are doing favour on us. Just missed one payment and they cancelled the policy before even completing the month. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone, worst experience and expensive quotation then other company
Awful customer service. They cancelled my insurance policy without informing me and proceeded to be extremely rude about it. Have been with this company for nearly 10 years and will now look for another insurer.
Decline me insurance because 2 small traffic fines 3years ago and a loss of licence 7years ago not good service at all high rates also 2nd insurance company I applied for gladly approved me with good rates

I had a minor accident in my 2007 Mussel car, although Id been with my insurance company for over twenty years and never had an accident, they doubled my premiums.
A friend recommended Star, I called them, advised them I had a recent accident in my car, that had been repaired, and they still insured my car for half the price of my previous insurer. Brilliant!
Had a mototorhome windscreen leak, was dealt with promptly by an assessor who listened to our concerns. It was agreed that we could get it repaired within 12 hours and we found a company that could repair and that we both mutually agreed upon. I was very impressed with the quick and timely response given lockdown levels and just before Christmas. Been with star insurance for four years now and I doubt we will leave to go to any one else. Many thanks!
So far they have been very good to deal with. Haven't had to make a claim yet but so far I would give 6 stars if I could.
