Excellent Vibes and liked the new food menu. One of the best in the area, not to be missed. Should try once to compare and decide for yourself. Hghly recommend and will be visiting quite often.

Can no longer call themselves a restaurant is more a bar. The menu has changed and not for the good. They no longer have their old menu but it is still displayed on the table and the new menu resembles nothing from the reviews or pictures. Ordered a seafood platter for 2. The best thing on the platter was the battered fish which you were only offered one piece. Scallops were a little under cooked. To be honest when the toilet is next to the kitchen you should probably walk out. My daughter used one of the toilets that had urine all over the seat and floor. I do not recommend them for food but I do recommend them for their drinks and cocktails. The bar guys are super friendly and make a mean drink.

In my very humble opinion this is one of the nicer places to enjoy a cocktail in Howick. There is their special cocktails menu but they will also make old favourites. Their black forest Expresso is my go to. The menu has something for everyone on it. We normally order a number of their sides and share because there is a lot of yummy stuff and we want a bit of everything. I highly rate their fries, perfect texture, served hot and crispy. They also have their blackboard special. Worth looking at these before the menu because they are normally pretty good.
Overall a great place. I have been a number of times and will continue to go. If I was going to give it any criticism, they occasionally close early. We have been inside and they have turned people away at 9pm. I am not sure if the reasoning but it’s a bit weird to turn someone away that wants to spend money in your establishment.

This has been my local for the past five years. Won’t be returning after tonight’s treatment! Was treated as if I was a criminal planning to skip on the bill. Other couples were allowed to finish drink and dinner and pay afterwards, but not me! I had to pay for everything upfront and was told to leave my dinner and pay at the counter for another drink! Not sure what has happened but you will never see me again!

I see why this place is always so busy. Went in today being 1st customer of the day (2 of us), the place is run well and the kitchen delivers! Cannot fault them, service, food and atmosphere.

We had Bao Buns, Pork Belly, Green Curry Muscles, Pulled Pork Loaded Fries and beverages.on tap beer is fresh and good!

Will definitely go in again, highly recommended.

Smashing cocktails! The cherry sour was Devine - $19.50 ea but I just had to have two! I had it without sugar syrup and it was silky smooth yet brightly piquant. The food was just OK - the pork belly was the best dish we sampled with lots of meat and a beautiful balance of flavours but the skin wasn’t crispy and the fat wasn’t rendered off enough to my liking. The scallops were disappointing - the scallop flavour was suspiciously strong and pungent as opposed to subtle and the profile was more salty and oily than light and slightly sweet. The bao were also a bit underwhelming - not bad overall but the karaage batter could have been crispier, darker, more flavourful and there weren’t enough pickled elements to balance the sweet bun and creamy mayo. I prefer a bit of spice, crunch and vinegar - they were bland. The service was absolutely five star Our wait person was so attentive, professional and kind. It’s a great atmosphere with beautiful architectural features - if a little cramped. All round great spot to spend a cheeky afternoon sip and bite.

We popped in for some mulled wine in the evening and it was delicious. We also had some deserts which were ok.

Great food, and great service and a very large range of drink/special cocktails. There are specials held in the bar depending on the day.

Had a relaxing lunch. Hope the menu will have more chef cook hot food variety instead of fried food.

This was the best eatery in howick during Luke's time at the helm, over the period he presented us with 1000 different choices on the black board menu, most were fantastic. These days under new ownership the standards have dropped beyond belief. The food of which the choices are minimal is quite awful the service if you can get any is unfriendly and uninterested, although the staff can carry out an interesting conversation which one can observe as they congregate around the kitchen chatting happily to one another while us paying customers wait impatiently for service. I'm not going back and I would advise you against it. BRING BACK LUKE I SAY.

My mum and I had an amazing experience here, the bar tenders, especially the woman with the dangly earrings (didn’t quite catch her name!) were so accommodating to us and made us feel welcome. The food we had was great (just bar snacks as it was late) and came quickly, and the cocktail I had was reasonably priced and came served in a huge glass/bowl. All in all a delightful experience and we would definitely come back if we visited Howick again

I don't know why restaurants still use tile floors and metal chairs.the combination is terribly loud as people pull out and scoot their chairs. Other than that, this is a cute place to meet friends and family.

Staff were really nice & attentive.
Both of my friends enjoyed their meals.
I was so disappointed with the menu & with my food but it was editable & I was hungry. I will eat before I go there with my friends again as they loved their meals, maybe I'm just too picky. So I guess 2 out of 3 ain't bad

Great little spot right on the corner of Howick, nice on a sunny day to sit and look out at the water enjoy a few cocktails and tapas. Prices can be on the high side, depends on what you want. Staff always nice and friendly. Dog friendly outside.

To charge $18.50 for a glass of red wine is ridiculous, I spent $37 for 2 wines. Never again back to the house wine. When I asked Jack what the small bottle of Duetz cost he said $19. This is gross price gouging.

Baos with no flavour added to the pork belly inside them and missing half the ingredients, squid cooked decently but no flavour (miss the previous chef), tacos bland with no authenticity, fried chicken was ok if not served with store bought sauces. Desert was divine and cocktails are always a highlight. Enjoy the atmosphere not the cuisine

Lovely atmosphere, pity final call for drinks was 9pm on a Wednesday night! Turning away customers, business must be good. I wont be in a hurry to return.

Went for brunch at 1230 brunch menu wasn't available for some reason but what we had was great

10/10 pulled pork fries been in for the last 4 days and can’t get enough. Can’t recommend them enough. The service was great too, the staff at the bar were very friendly and helpful, definitely the best bar in howick with the best vibes

Love this place for it's delicious food, and friendly, attentive service.
Hard to go past the bao buns, but make sure you read the specials board. Interesting dishes with tasty flavours that are great for to have for your own meal or to share with friends.
