Great atmosphere. Food is really delicious. The only reason for 4 stars is that the steak was a little bit over cooked, but luckily still pink. The stuffed chicken was fantastic, the peppercorn sauce the star of the show! Friendly staff and prompt service. Great restaurant with good variety.

Food and service is amazing at the Hive. We went for a work function and couldn't fault the place. Service was top notch, food was delish! Our crew loved it so much pretty much most of us went back with our families for meals at a later date because we enjoyed it so much. Highly recommend:)

As per every time we have dined here the food was fantastic staff were lovely and the drinks cold what more could you ask for

Watched the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final here. The breakfast burger was outstanding! Brioche bun, some really great bacon, scrambled egg, spinach and a great relish. One of the best I’ve had…. Washed down with numerous hazy IPAs. The service was great! They do $12 cocktails from 5-7pm on Thursday, Fri, Sat…. I will be back

The food is decent and the atmosphere pleasant. We’ve come in a few times and have left feeling sorry for the staff. The atmosphere would be nicer if management would treat the staff with respect. We can hear you. You think you’re being funny but you’re not. Your remarks are condescending and disrespectful and it creates an uncomfortable atmosphere for your patrons. Show some respect to your staff and perhaps you’d not have the turn over that you do. We won’t be back, you make it impossible not to want to step in.

We have been here a few times In the last 6months and usually the food has been good. Entrees especially are usually tasty and staff are really attentive.
Tonight the wait was over 2hours, including kids meals. I informed the wait staff my steak wasn’t right (it was as though it was cooked from frozen, chewy, white in colour) and she just smiled. Our table spent over $1400, such a shame our one concern wasn’t taken seriously. Not sure we would hurry back

What a pleasant surprise this place was last night. The food was superb. Small menu with great variety and everything was far better than we could ever do at home! Highly recommend.

We hoped they had got it together but.no. Unfortunately the last 2 times we've been there, the chef hasn't improved his steak cooking skill. Again, the 'medium rare' steak was not only still mooing but was walking off the plate. We sent the 4 meals back for a little bit more cooking and they came back over-done, chewy and dry. We felt sorry for the waitresses who are trying so hard.

A busy spot in the heart of Kumeu. Warm atmosphere with staff who want to create an enjoyable experience. The menu has a variety of options and great for kids in mind. A great meal for the middle of winter.

Nice place and food. Dinner was a little slow to arrive. I liked it because the music they played was not too loud and we could have a conversation.

Very friendly, really lovely staff, fabulous dinning room so good.
Entrees were ok, Arancini were a little salty, Squid a little limp not really crisp enough therefore oily, again salty.
Chicken lovely although again very salty, spare ribs, not so great, we wondered if the marinade was out of a packet.not the best again over seasoned. Pork Belly was presented beautifully, however soooo salty we couldnt eat it, the vegetabes were cold, possibly too much time on presentation.such a shame as everything looked amazing however the taste test let them all down. Chef is far too heavy handed with the salt, remember seasoning is you servant not your master, you can alwas add it at the table but once in the food you cannot remove it. Not sure if the rubs, marinades etc are made from scratch or brought in.often packet stuff is over seadoned and then if you add more it is just not nice.
We will come back and give it another go, but will choose differently. The staff are fabulous, toilets were clean.a little pricey at the till but the cost of fresh veges and running a restaurant is not cheap today.so all and all not over the top if one could have eaten it.

Foodnis amazing, pork belly was great but everyone at the table loved what they got. Staff are lovely and service was on point. Make sure you stop in if you have not been before.

10/10 for Food and Service. A hidden gem in Kumeu. The food and drinks were fabulous, atmosphere was lovely, the background music was fantastic (love hearing the Eagles and all the greatest hits) the waiters and waitresses were great. Can’t wait to come back to our new local. Nice family friendly restaurant too and high chairs are available and they were clean. Will be recommending this place to our friends.

Some interesting dishes on offer generous portion size and the staff were very accommodating

Very enjoyable. I had the eye fillet which was cooked perfectly. I then had the Hive Eton Mess which was lovely. Decent portions.

Staff were friendly and welcoming.

A nice atmosphere, my only criticism would be that there are too many tables in the space which meant that the tables are too close.

A cocktail menu would be a good addition.
