The Fox Sporting Bar & Restaurant

I came in today to watch the NFL match and the barmaid was quite rude. Wee Sarah was lovely. But the other woman behind the bar needs to learn good customer service. She should not be employed in a customer facing role, very rude and unfriendly. I felt bad because the only reason I know the other woman was called Sarah is because the barmaid was yelping at her and being rude to her as well which made everything seem even more uncomfortable.

Saw Sunday roast deal for 2 on Heart of the city with 3 appetisers for 69.95. Roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, etc. Booked well in advance for 6 pm so I wouldn't miss out. Got there to be seated behind a pillar with a great outlook of a row of plastic flowers. I ordered a couple of drinks, thinking there would be a table tab, but no, their preference was to pay for each purchase. Then, I noticed it was not beef with Yorkshire pudding but roast of the day (chicken for $79.95) but all sold out. So paid $103 for a burger and fish and chips and a gin and 2 beers.

This is easily our go to for any sports events!
The service at the recent Rugby World Cup was absolutely unreal and far exceeded any expectations!
It was so well organised and the staff dealt with the sheer volume of people so well and with smiles on their faces! Two bars open, meant no real queuing for drinks and a yummy breakfast menu was perfect!
The atmosphere was fantastic. I have to give a special shout out to Wendy who was just so lovely and so incredibly accommodating (thank you Wendy - absolute star!)
Really made our experience so great! (We love watching UFC there too!)

The place is a good one, with a good ambiance and a lively atmosphere. I was with my friends just to have some chill time. But one of the staff was very irritating and very rude. He wanted to check our IDs for further verification, which was already done at the entrance. We didn't mind it. But he was just bothering us very much by intruding into our conversation by something or the other. He also took one of my friend's credit cards as a security, like would leave without paying. We finally had to ask him to leave us alone and ask other staff to replace him for our table. I don't understand why you guys employ people like him just to make our day worse.

Fantastic atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. The food was very generously portioned and came out quickly, well presented and flavourful even for our big group. Big thanks to the whole team involved

Used to have a real feel of the UK, they have changed their supply and are now just another lion pub, no UK beer anymore. Disappointing.

Good food and atmosphere. We dined here on a Friday night and really enjoyed our experience. The wait staff was quick and friendly, the beer was cold and the food was good, not sure what else you need at a place like this. Would recommend for anyone.

Extremely noisy - impossible to hold any sort of conversation. Cage fighting was playing on every TV and nobody was watching it and they had the volume turned up to eardrum bursting level.

The food made me physically ill. My friend's were also quite concerned with the quality of food available (a lot of us had sick stomachs after about an hour) and I had to get out of bed to puke my guts out at 1am. Avoid the food here like the plague.

The staff were quite nice though so that's why two stars seemed appropriate.

Great place to have a drink, and the band that played that night was amazing. Had a better time there than at Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert (same night)

Very nice place and obviously a haven for the power suits. Great place to watch sports inside and out. A little pricey.

Only had a quick Guinness. As far as themed pubs go it looked pretty good. Good place to escape into.

Stopped taking orders despite being virtually empty. Food poor, just reheated supermarket pie extortionate price. Seems to be a general problem in Auckland, get more than 5 meals on order, stop serving. Laughable.

Called in to watch the rugby, lovely attentive staff, delicious food and cocktails.the Bees & Honey cocktail is a 'must try'.

Lovely experience with my wife at the Fox. Right on arrival the hospitality was excellent and once we entered the place is designed to give you a fell of a classic english pub. If you're into football there are some nice framed images of historic moments in the premier league. They also offer some classic english dishes which was a nice touch. Definitely recommend these guys, we had a lovely afternoon here.

We had a great evening. We had shared nibbles of fish, bhajis, and chips and we had a lovely gin tree.
The staff were rushed off their feet, being St. Patricks day, and they did a fantastic job of keeping up with everything so a special well done to them.

Great service and great selection of drinks. Gin tree was an excellent choice for me and my friend to share.
We ordered food as well. Fish & chips was perfect however chicken salad was way to grease and chicken nuggets in it tasted double fried.

We each had the daily roast which for $35 also included desert. The roast pork meals we had were well seasoned, well cooked and amazing to eat. Very good sized portion also. Desert was peach Melba which included fresh peach, vanilla bean ice cream, marscopone, compote, and Melba toast. It was a big portion for desert and we shared. I highly recommend the Fox. Staff were attentive and very polite. A lovely afternoon.

Went to this supposed Sports Bar to watch a Warriors game only to be approached by security and told there's a dress code and supporters jerseys don't meet the standard. Collared shirts required? Will not return on principal alone. I've not met a "London pub" in London, that had required a collared shirt either, just saying.
UPDATED review:
A lot can be said about how someone recovers a situation, and based on my conversation with Joey - I will be back to give the venue another shot. I appreciate it when an issue is addressed and acknowledged and a genuine offer is made to remedy a previous issue. Let's hope the Warriors can win on that visit too.
