The Lobby Lounge at Cordis, Auckland reviews
36 We had a lovely experience at the Cordis hotel for High Tea. This was a birthday treat from my daughter on the Saturday 26th August.
We would like to thank Sol, and Marysell for the kind explanation, on the different types of tea, and the lovely surprise at the end, saying happy birthday that was so nice of you guy's
Thank you Keith and Lesley
Fabulous experience, way above expectations. The food was excellent, a tip, leave room for the scones at the end. The staff were attentive, helpful and went above and beyond to make this really special. Thank you so much
I booked high tea here since it was listed as the best in Auckland. It's inside a hotel near the elevators, so it's incredibly loud. The other patrons had children blasting shows on their iPad's. The staff was incredibly inattentive even though they outnumbered the guests 2 to 1. I had to wave down the waitress for water refills. The food was okay. They left items off the plate that were listed on the menu (pic attached) with no explanation as to why. The menu also mentioned we could trade out a tea for a glass of champagne, and that wasn't offered. The table we were sat at had old congealed food crusted to it (photo attached). They did okay but left a lot to be desired
Great atmosphere and excellent service. Friendly, helpful staff. However, too many sweet treats and not enough hot savouries. (Only received one small warm pinwheel) We would have appreciated a couple of hot meat savouries each.
Beautifully constructed cakes, and excellent scones.
It was an amazing premium high tea experience on the ocassion of my husband's birthday. Kirk was very hospitable and made our moment even more special with great service. Tanya at the concierge was lovely to interact with and looked after us very well. Kudos team We will definitely come back.
We had a lovely experience at the Cordis for High Tea. This was a birthday treat and it certainly was a treat. Maybe the tea we ordered was a little weak however, everything else was great. Couldn't fault the service, it was excellent. Thank you
Booked mothers day high tea and it wasn't disappointing. Between five of us we were all presented champagne and 3 plates between us.
The waitress was just lovely. She explained every morsel to us and nothing was too much bother for her. As soon as our tea pots were empty, she whisked them away to replace them. She knew our preferences each time, only downside was the tea was on the weak side.
The food was delicious but perhaps the scones could be smaller. The menu was put together for Mothers day. My Mother in law was thoroughly delighted, we will definitely be back next year.
Has an awesome high tea experience and served by Morgan she was so attentive and made the experience even better a credit to the Cordis team. Will be back again.
High tea was very disappointing for the price of $65pp. The sandwiches felt stale and flavour combinations of the desserts were not enjoyable. Our group leftover quite a decent amount of desserts, which was unexpected with the price we were paying for ($260 in total). The services and atmosphere was great though.
We booked a Minions High Tea and the table collapsed on our six year old's knee leaving bruises. Everything on our table crashed to the floor. When we were reseated we weren't given his juice or all the scones. One each rather than the usual two for high tea. Not happy.
Such a disappointment. The food looked pretty but it was tasteless. Very expensive. At times we did not know what we were eating. I will never go back for high tea and do not recommend.
Nice surroundings but food was horrible some tasteless and chewy meat on a stick was disgusting! It seems depending on which sitting you are at as to how food is serve - one of our guests had all their food just dumped in front of them on a separate plate, no where was the beautiful gold circular serving trays shown in the photo's. Would never consider the Chandelier Lounge again. Was totally disappointed especially as this was to celebrate two 60th birthdays and all guests travelled from outside of Auckland.
Unfortunately the high tea isn’t as good as it used to be. Food is weird flavour combinations and not fresh. Scones dry and a small dollop of cream and jam given for 6 scones. Really disappointing overall considering the price. Used to be really good so disappointing it’s no longer the case.
High tea- underwhelming. I wish i have checked the reviews prior to booking. Foods were bland, sandwiches were dry, scones were not good, some odd pairings (Asparagus, lemon cream- the shaved almonds was the “saving grace”. We’ve been served gluten free even if i didnt tick this on the list. Overall, we feel we didnt get value of our money. We dont mind paying for more as long as it is worth it.
Pros- a welcome drink, 2 types of hot drink (coffee, tea)
Service - just ok. Caught our server eye rolled.seemed like she has issues serving Asian guests?
Food ok. Cakes lovely scones were yummy but sandwiches were dry, maybe it was we were last sitting. However at that price we expected fresh sandwiches. Service could of been better. We got told we get two drinks but waitress never came over and asked if we would like another. Overall bit disappointed as was our anniversary. They new this and done nothing little to try to make special.
Had dinner and drinks at this place because the restaurant was closed on the day we stayed at the hotel. All dishes are reasonably priced. Burger tasted good not the soup. The place was very crowded perhaps as it was the only food option on that day. Was difficult to get staffs attention to order or request anything. I’m sure they did their best to serve but I don’t think the staff were as trained as some other hotel restaurants of the same grade.
5 stars for our server Trinity! This was our first high tea experience so we had a lot of questions and Trinity was so patient and took the time to go through everything for us. We also casually mentioned it was my friend’s birthday and she gave us a little birthday treat. The whole experience was so delightful!
Beautiful setting & wonderful service. The high tea missed the mark. A mixture of raw fish & chicken sandwiches, sugarless sweets & dry scones. Sadly this was a treat for my neice & we left underwhelmed
I went with my friends for High tea. Great Ambience, good service but very disappointed with the food specially the savoury items. Carrot panna cota and tarlet were so bad that none of us ate after the first bite. The sweet items were better but nothing to write home about. Tea menu is limited. So Definitely need to work on their menu. Also nobody asked that how was the food when we were paying which is strange. Will rather go back to Sofitel next time.
Had high tea with my friends. Overall ambience was good. But we were not happy with the food. Some of the high tea items were just tasteless. Overall not satisfied.
