Acceptable price for the quality of food. Good portion and great taste, well done. Nice staff, the particular gentlemen with a buzz cut has 10/10 customer service. This coming from a Qantas Customer Service Manager.

Back from overseas for a quick visit and couldn't pass up the chance to grab a Belgian beer.or 3 with family. It was our local many years ago and nice to see it hasn't changed altho the young English guy has a very loud and abrupt manner. A touch of our kiwi nicety wouldn't go amiss!

The mussels and the bitter ballen were great and the service was good too. We were with a bit group so it was a bit chaotic, but everything went well. I would definitely recommend the Occidental.

Delicious mussels. Expect to wait for a table during dinner time. Or go early before 6 if you want to get a table easily. They've discount for mussels on Monday. Jupiler beer 1L jug at $19 is also a good deal.

Worst service ever. I would like to give zero star if I have the option. The waiters are so so so slow and when we ask why they are so slow, they complain about other customers being slow in ordering their food. This is ridiculous! Their ketchup bottles are empty and when I asked for another one, they gave me another empty one! I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone! Try to avoid this restaurant.

My guide said this was the best place for mussels.my guide was correct. This was the first time I had the opportunity to try green-lipped mussels. I also appreciated the fact that the offered different sauces. The winner was blue cheese and spinach.

Wouldn't rush back to this establishment. Maybe we were the wrong age group, I'm not sure? We went to see a live band that we had heard good reviews. The band never stood a chance to perform, the over sensitive security or thugs, not quite sure which, kept forcibly ejecting people who it seemed to me to have done nothing but look the wrong way. The sinic in me thinks it was a way for the establishment to get new punters in from the queue outside.

It was awful worst experience! The food was not bad, but the staff was incredibly rude.
I regret introducing this place to my friends. We will never go here again.
We visited this place on Monday a few weeks ago.
We were very angry at the rudeness of the staff.
We ordered two mussels, a pork dish, and two beers.
It was three beers she brought! Their explanation was very gibberish and we ended up paying for three glasses of beer.
They even took my receipt for confirmation and threw it into the wastebasket.
Never go here if you want to have a good time.
It is also a pity to give out a single star.

Love this place. They have good Belgian beers, large portions of finger food and live band that plays (especially on saturday nights).
Had a bloddy good time here.

As usual the beer selection here is great and the fries were nice (although served in a sauce dish with at least 8 chips around the circumference). The mussels were served luke warm instead of steamed and there was very little sauce. Sauce was watery instead of creamy as promised. Toilets could be cleaner.

Great pub, left a wallet behind and the next day the staff went out of there way to get it back to me honest polite staff will happily return there when in city next

Delighted to visit this establishment again after nearly 60 years. "If these walls had ears, many a story could be told".
It still retains a sophisticated charm. The mussel dishes we had here were legendary and the staff were friendly and added to the all added to the inner city experience.

Staff were extremely accommodating, they were always available to assist even though i was there at lunch and it was pretty busy. The mussels in creamy white wine and garlic was cooked to perfection. I ordered the half kg portion and it was pretty much a full meal with the fries that came with it. I Can't wait to go back!

Worth to pay a visit during Monday. 50% off for mussel. It's fresh and definitely worth the wait.

I visit again 2 years later, we ordered 2kg of mussel and a pork rib~ which cost us $25 each (not Monday). The meal was so full.mussels are huge! But the pork ribs are bad.

Nice belgium beer pub in city! Yummy nibbles! Sometimes too busy during peak times and feels squashed up. But good beer and good atmosphere!

Great Belgian beer, huge range (of foreign - i.e, Dutch and Belgian beers) and authentic Trappist beers. Belgian fries are on point.
Food is excellent too, mussels in different sauces and highly recommend the venison pie.
Live music later on at night on the weekends, (which can get pretty loud though)

Good food and specials after 6pm. So better head there at that time. If you want to have a good seafood (particularly clams) fix, head to this part of Auckland CBD.

One of, if not the oldest pub in Auckland. Themed as Belgian beer venue with what appeared to be quite nice food. Stella, Jupiler etc on tap, with a menu of Trappist beers etc also available. Was busy for lunch, but on this occasion just a swift pint. Great olde worlde style interior.

Great pub for breakfast lunch and dinner! Amazing place to hang out with friends for a few as well! My friends and I have been coming here for breakfast every fortnight for about 5 years & wouldn’t go anywhere else. The staff are always friendly and really take care of us. Highly recommend!

Always order the taste of the sea! We usually swap out the salmon for something else because the smoked salmon isn’t that good. Been here a few times and it’s a hit or miss; most of the times the taste of the sea is really good and maybe 2 times we ordered this the seafood was rubbery and over cooked. But overall I still keep coming back! Also the seafood chowder is bloody amazing! It’s my favourite.
