The Oyster Inn reviews
62Only had dinner, the service was great staff was very friendly, we had a great time celebrating my birthday.
Fantastic food in a casual atmosphere with beautiful ocean views from the terrace. Have not stayed in the hotel so can only review the restaurant!
Lovely atmosphere, awesome staff with a sense of humor, food was delicious.well sense be coming back
Absolutely fabulous winemakers dinner! Poppies wines were lovely and matched with amazing dishes. 3 plus Michelin stars if they went that high!
The best place on waiheke. Amazing staff and service. Food was exceptional and very quick. Definitely will be back
Wow the food and service is outstanding. This place is such a gem, a must visit if you’re on the island.
We enjoyed a dinner for four at the Oyster Inn. An excellent place to visit with friends. Thank you.
The staff were great and so was the food. We were fortunate to have had a spot on the deck on a beautiful day.
I particularly recommend the crudo, although we enjoyed a number of the seafood dishes - but I really want to go back and try the slow roasted shoulder of lamb too.
Four of us dined in the restaurant. View is wonderful, service very friendly but slow at times, although restaurant was pretty busy so wait was acceptable.
Food was delicious and beautifully presented and there was a an excellent range of drinks, including zero alcohol beers. Lots of wine options by the glass, but alcohol was pretty expensive.
Our major dislike was the number of dogs in the restaurant. We had two mid-large dogs on one side and and a small quiet dog on the other. One of the big dogs kept barking and it was on a fairly long leash tied to a pole supporting the balcony roof. Both of our friends are nearing 90 and one is quite unsteady walking. The dog went to meet our friend as he arrived, and it could have caused a very nasty fall. All four of us love dogs and we have dogs of our own but I don’t think having them in a restaurant is acceptable.
Will definitely go back to the restaurant but will check out the dog situation first.
The attitude of the lady at the front desk is so bad, treating Asia people with a huge horrible attitude, racist
It is disappointing that the lady at the front desk was dismissive of your request to book a table for dinner, and her behavior towards me was unprofessional and inappropriate. It is also concerning that she appeared to be rude and dismissive towards me and Asian group, which is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the restaurant's customer service standards.
It is important for businesses to treat all their customers with respect and dignity, regardless of their ethnicity, race, or nationality. The fact that we were treated differently than others raises questions about the restaurant's commitment to diversity and inclusivity.
The attitude of the lady at the front desk is so bad, treating Asia people with unacceptable attitude, 100% racist. I don’t know why so many people recommend this restaurant.
Stayed in Waiheke for a week. This is the only place we dined at twice. Both times were for lunch, and both times we had GARETH as our server. We were lucky enough on the 2nd visit to have arrived just when a catch of renowned Bluff oysters came in that morning. Service is great, Gareth is a remarkable human, and the location can't be beat on this side of the island.
Protip: Go early, or make a reservation.
Lovely setting with friendly service. The choux pastry dessert was a highlight, as were the local oysters.
Really great quality all round.
The french waiter was superb, thank you for looking after us
Great food, lovely service. Adult fish and chips and mussel pasta, kids fish and chips all ordered and yum. Oysters tasty too. Cocktails superb. We had an early booking at 5pm with 2 adults and a 4 year old. Staff went out of their way to engage with our daughter. Weather was average. Can imagine this place just lovely on a warm summers eve.
My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Oyster Inn on Waiheke Island and were thoroughly impressed. The food was delicious - fresh, tasty, and beautifully presented. The service was also top-notch - friendly and attentive. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasant and contributed to a truly enjoyable experience. If you're on Waiheke Island and in search of a great meal and excellent service, Oyster Inn is definitely worth a visit.
Lovely evening with my family, great cocktails and we were looked after an amazing waitress, think she was the events manager for the other restaurant that Josh owns in the city, a real hospo star.
On our first night's stay at the Inn, we had an amazing dinner. So much so, we came for dinner on our last night too. We were not disappointed. So much flavour in the market fish of the day. Definitely get the clams and the Oysters and the fish sausage roll. I could go on and on. Will be coming back to try the rest of the menu. Thank you.
Wonderful food and excellent service while watching the world unfold on the balcony. Recommended.
